Now we know. All these years Republicans were gung-ho against Russia/the USSR not for patriotism, but for profits and the military-industrial complex. Distract Americans with the fear of communism while the tax rates for the wealthy dwindled from 90% for the first million to 13%. The Democrats were the genuine patriots against Russia, like JFK during the Berlin Airlift and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Look at these "patriotic" Republicans who avoided fighting the communists in Vietnam: Dan Quayle, George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Trumpf, Mitch Romney. All either got deferments or joined the Natl Guard to stay home.
