The Washington Post is reporting that six people have confirmed to them that President Donald Trump is planning an executive order to try and seize control of the U.S. Postal Service. A 1970 Act made the USPS an independent agency. Three members of the Postal Service's governing board told The Post that they've held an emergency meeting, have hired outside counsel and plan to fight the Trump Administration, the newspaper reports. The Post also reported that after the story was published, a White House spokesperson denied Trump was planning such an executive order.

... Trump to Seize Control of U.S. Postal Service ...
Didn't Pres Trump already seize control of USPS when he put his crony in charge during his (Pres Trump's) first term?
Since that occurred, what I have seen are longer delivery times.
The US postmaster appointed under Trump is still raising alarm -- but can he be stopped? (2021)

... Joe Biden this month took another step toward the removal of the controversial postmaster general Louis DeJoy, even as the Trump-era appointee continues to make his mark on the embattled postal service, rolling out new plans to slow down delivery and close postal stations around the country.
DeJoy, a Republican logistics executive, caused a national furor last year over his attempts to slow down mail delivery before the 2020 presidential election, in which millions of Americans voted by mail. ...
Louis DeJoy
en.wikipedia.org
... Louis DeJoy (born 1956/57[citation needed]) is an American businessman serving as the 75th U.S. postmaster general. He was appointed in May 2020 by the Board of Governors of the United States Postal Service (USPS). Prior to the appointment, he was the founder and CEO of the logistics and freight company New Breed Logistics and was a major Republican Party donor and fundraiser for Donald Trump.[1]
DeJoy is the first postmaster general since 1992 without any previous experience in the USPS and the first postmaster general in U.S. history to come directly from the board of a privately owned competitor to the public"private partnership of the USPS entity.[2] His companies still hold active service contracts with the USPS, generating controversy over conflict of interest.[3] ...
So, Mr DeJoy seems to have a goal to make the US Postal Service not work because it is a competitor of his investments?
FACTS:
At this point there is only one source is denying the WaPo reporting. A single unnamed WH spokesperson. That person also only said the "EO is not in the works" which is meaningless if it's already done. The Independent, who reported this latter statement, reached out to and has not heard back from the White House or the USPS. The Washington Post also has this noted in their article, though they "sane washed" it.
The USPS Board is concerned enough to hold an emergency meeting, retain a lawyer, and laid out steps to sue the White House should this occur.
The Washington Post has multiple sources for their reporting, and confirmations from other sources. Its reporting is quite thorough.

CNN Poll: Americans worried by Trump's push to expand powerwww.cnn.com
A broad majority feel the president isn't doing enough to address the high prices of everyday goods. And 52% say he's gone too far in using his presidential power, with similar majorities wary of his push to shutter federal agencies and elevate Elon Musk to a prominent role in his efforts to reshape the government.
Americans divide on Trump's performance in office thus far, with 47% approving and 52% disapproving, below the start-of-term ratings for any recent presidency other than his own.
Most adults nationwide, 55%, say that Trump has not paid enough attention to the country's most important problems and 62% feel he has not gone far enough in trying to reduce the price of everyday goods. Sizable shares across party lines share the latter view, including 47% of Republicans, 65% of independents and 73% of Democrats. In CNN's January polling, the economy eclipsed all other issues as Americans' top concern.
More describe themselves as pessimistic or afraid when looking ahead to the rest of Trump's second term (54%) than say they feel enthusiastic or optimistic about it (46%). In December, 52% were on the positive side, 48% negative. Notably, the share saying they feel "afraid" has climbed 6 points to 35%, rising by a roughly equal share across partisan lines.
White House denies Trump is moving to take over Postal Service despite reports of looming executive order
uk.news.yahoo.com
... The White House is denying President Donald Trump is considering moving the U.S. Postal Service under the control of his administration, marking a potential first step toward privatizing the 250-year-old government agency, despite recent reports.
The president is expected to sign an executive order terminating the independent mail agency's governing board members and place the agency under the control of the Commerce Department and Secretary Howard Lutnick, the Washington Post reported late Thursday.
The board overseeing USPS held an emergency meeting Thursday, retained a lawyer and laid out steps to sue the White House if Trump were to carry out these plans, the outlet reported. ...
