Comments

"The voting reform push by Trump stems from baseless claims that the 2020 election he lost was stolen from him. Earlier this month, Trump falsely claimed only the US uses mail-in voting. Dozens of countries permit at least some form of mail-in voting."

"Trump himself has cast election ballots by mail. In the 2024 elections, 14 states and Washington DC had voter turnout by mail exceeding 30%, with Trump winning half of those states, including Utah, which had 91.5% vote by mail turnout and whose elections are overseen by Republicans.

Some 36 US states have laws requesting or requiring voters to show identification at the polls, with the remaining states and DC using other forms of identity verification.

Voter fraud is incredibly rare and voter ID laws have been shown to disproportionately impact minorities, low-income individuals and disabled voters."

AND

"Also after the 2020 election, The Associated Press contacted local election officials in six swing states. In their analysis, they found 475 potential voter fraud cases " which amounts to an extraordinarily small percentage of the more than 25 million ballots that were cast in those six states."

Does congress do anything other than collect paychecks these days?

Republicans have done a fantastic job of proving how absolutely obsolete they are.

Trump rules through EO and the Republican lead Congress and Supreme Court do nothing but suck his dick.

Lewzer quotes:

"Why Is @BarackObama constantly issuing executive orders that are major power grabs of authority?"

"The country wasn't based on executive orders,"

"Right now, Obama goes around signing executive orders. He can't even get along with the Democrats, and he goes around signing all these executive orders. It's a basic disaster. You can't do it."

For those keeping score, Lewzer has now signed 139 more Executive Orders than Barack Obama did in eight years.

I am not getting Real ID or a "Voter ID".

#5 | Posted by donnerboy at 2025-09-01 02:27 PM

Why not?

#6 | Posted by eberly at 2025-09-01 02:32 PM

Freedom?

I know, so antiquated.

#7 | Posted by ClownShack at 2025-09-01 02:35 PM

Not having a real ID is more freedom?

#8 | Posted by eberly at 2025-09-01 03:02 PM

Civil Disobedience.

Eb's, I know you only Obey.

No matter how stupid the rules.

#9 | Posted by Effeteposer at 2025-09-01 03:04 PM

So none of you have a real id?

#10 | Posted by eberly at 2025-09-01 03:08 PM

So none of you have a real id?

I used to have one but it was a pain in the ass to get and I never bothered renewing it.

#11 | Posted by REDIAL at 2025-09-01 03:12 PM

I think most people lie about their civil disobedience.

#12 | Posted by eberly at 2025-09-01 03:42 PM

Most Republican voters who demand Voter ID are too stupid to ask why Republicans don't support a National Voter ID.

Maybe there's a clever Republican here on the DR who would like to tell us why Republican Leadership is staunchly opposed to a National Voter ID.

Why not, its part of the DL in California, just send in a few more docs.

How do you fly commercial?

I have RealID, use it for flying my plane, among other things.

Most Republican voters who demand Voter ID are too stupid to ask why Republicans don't support a National Voter ID.

It is odd to me why there isn't a National Citizen ID card.

And a standardized Alien card.

@#5 ... I am not getting Real ID or a "Voter ID". ...

I have a real ID, just like I have a Passport. To me they are quite similar.

Here is Connecticut, I also have to show an ID in order to vote. I don't have a problem with that because Connecticut makes it easy to obtain a proper ID if you do not have a driver's license.

Therein lies my concern about the Voter ID requirements, some GOP-led states may make it more difficult to obtain a proper ID for those who do not typically vote for the GOP candidates.

Why not?

"I have a real ID, just like I have a Passport. To me they are quite similar. "

Quite similar? It's the exact same. Same requirements.

It's complete nonsense. A waste of money. And very suspicious as to why it's really needed. So just another database to be hacked or abused by this administration.

My passport works just fine. And in fact may be even more important to me if I decide I've had enough of this BS.

#16 | Posted by donnerboy at 2025-09-02 11:37 AM

Better find another country to get a passport from.

#17 | Posted by LegallyYourDead at 2025-09-02 01:58 PM

I got a realid this year, no big, appointment at the DMV, took 20 minutes.
Passport was more a pain in the ass.

OK Corky,
#1 - Guardian? Really?
and #2 How is voter ID unconstitutional? Did the foreign-based propaganda tabloid Guardian tell you it was?
BTW you realize that British Press hates all Americans, right? They'll smear your faction as well, when the time comes. Anything to cause US trouble and division, they will do.

#19 | Posted by easy_meat at 2025-09-02 06:02 PM

- Guardian? Really?

Attacking the source isn't an argument, it's just another logical fallacies... but hey, you have plenty so why not use them?

Or perhaps you could actually read the article?

- How is voter ID unconstitutional?

Oh, I dunno... the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment... you could start there as you want to 'burden' the voter.... when there's no, none, nada reason to do so as 'Voter Fraud' is a fraction of a fraction of a percent of all votes, SO, A FICTION... and not a serious problem at all... well, only in your Cult Leader's rapidly deteriorating brain.

Then there's the VRA, but it sounds like you've never heard of it.

"Trump faces a hurdle in banning mail-in voting: His own Republican Party

Voter turnout by mail exceeded 30% in at least 14 states, and D.C. Trump won half of them, most of which have Republican governors or secretaries of state overseeing elections.

A database maintained by the conservative Heritage Foundation that tracks election fraud cases includes 217 total criminal convictions for election-related fraud between 2020 and 2025. Those figures include all types of violations, not just those related to mail-in ballots.

Despite little hard evidence that rampant voter fraud exists in any form of voting, the idea of "election integrity" has remained the biggest selling point for Trump as he has pushed for sweeping legal reforms and continues to baselessly claim fraud is what cost him the 2020 presidential election."

Yeah ID is not a big burden, regardless of inflation pressure.
It's normal to ID for many, many things, yet no one cries constitution foul, except the 'moors' / 'sovereign citizens'.
and America-hating leftists...
Tangenital-ly related, if drinking and driving is prohibited, why do I have to show a driver license to purchase alcohol?

Are there horns and sweet bass-lines in that rap song?
You, know, that rap song.
Which one? What, there's more than one?

Trump to Sign Unconstitutional EO to Mandate Voter ID

Good! The idiots who let this crook into office have demonstrated they don't deserve the vote.

Let our overseers decide who rules. Since we are clearly incapable of exercising the rights generations fought and died for.

It's as big of a burden as republicans want to make it.

Why is your party always trying to find ways to make it harder to vote?

Imagine being such a shrinking violet that one only opens their mouth to say what others want to hear. On a discussion site, no less.

And that's how the Dems got their butts kicked in 2016 and 2024. Because they disregarded anything and everything that offended their sensibilities, no matter how rational.

And Trump rode that anti-DEI/anti-trans/anti-BLM backlash right into the White House.
