The planned order follows years of campaign promises from President Donald Trump to abolish the department -- something he cannot do without congressional approval.

If Trump dismantles the Dept. of Education, he will be jeopardizing public education for our most vulnerable communities. Rural schools. Low-income areas. Special ed teachers and students with disabilities. Our families, kids, and teachers deserve more.

Well it is a Government Job's program for Liberals so makes sense why he'd abolish it.

More from the article...

... The planned order follows years of campaign promises from Trump to abolish the federal Education Department, which was established in 1979, during President Jimmy Carter's administration.

In September 2023, the then-candidate posted a video to social media saying, "One other thing I'll be doing very early in the administration is closing up the Department of Education in Washington D.C., and sending all education and education work and needs back to the states."

"In total American society pours more than $1 trillion a year into public education systems but instead of being at the top of the list, we are literally right smack -- guess what -- at the bottom," Trump said earlier in the video. ...

Yeah, this is what happens when the Corporate Oligarchs are in charge; Corporate Prisons and Corporate Schools. And that's just for starters.

Look for the MacDonald's Yellowstone Park, Musk Libraries, and the Theil Dam (formerly the Hoover Dam). Anything that now belongs to the People is For Sale to the highest bidder in the Musk/Trump 4th Reich.

We're all about to learn that you can do just that. It won't be legal, but there's no one to stop it. The GOP is fully behind it. Will the courts do anything about it? Unknown. More importantly, though, is if and that's a big if, who will enforce the court's decision? Who is going to stop it?

Donald Trump cannot unilaterally abolish a federal agency without the approval of Congress.

Just watch him do it.

Musk is destroying the federal government and Trump is legalizing it.

Democrats can make all the noise they want.

But project 2025 is rolling full steam ahead.

Will the courts do anything about it?

Musk is just going to freeze all funding to it and watch it die.

Courts can't do shht.

The fact Donald Trump is a free man proves that.

"Musk is destroying the federal government and Trump is legalizing it."

Yes, this is not about cost-savings or remaking the federal governmnent. It's about destroying the federal government. Trump and Musk and their billionaire cronies want to take us back to the time of the robber barons and the Gilded Age. They want to destroy FDR's New Deal and everything that has come after it. They are off to a fabulous start:

Throughout now-president Donald Trump's 2024 campaign, it was clear that his support was coming from three very different factions whose only shared ideology was a determination to destroy the federal government. Now we are watching them do it.

The group that serves President Donald Trump is gutting the government both to get revenge against those who tried to hold him accountable before the law and to make sure he and his cronies will never again have to worry about legality.

"Will the courts do anything about it?"

The courts have no enforcement power. That's why the Trump administration is moving to decapitate the FBI and DOJ.

It's about destroying the federal government

Perhaps thats true, but the DoE since its inception has seen nothing but American education system decline.

If its not the departments fault, then why does it exist, if it the departments fault, why does it exist?

What kind of idiotic post is this?

How will Trump dictate curriculum if there is no agency to do so? Who will create it, enforce it. FFS man.
By destroying the DoE, how do you imagine Trump is going to dictate curriculum?

He could create a new agency, or simply sign another EO.

Lewzer quotes:

"Why Is @BarackObama constantly issuing executive orders that are major power grabs of authority?"

"The country wasn't based on executive orders,"

"Right now, Obama goes around signing executive orders. He can't even get along with the Democrats, and he goes around signing all these executive orders. It's a basic disaster. You can't do it."

As much as I'd like to see this happen because it's been a failure, what I reprinted above is correct. It is a department that was created via legislation. Can't be undone with an EO.

Dismantling the DoJ firing the IG's cowering the entire bureaucracy and corrupting the court and Congress giving up its power will have that effect

And as a major aside...

I note that EO now seems to be an appropriate abbreviation for Executive Order on this most august site.

That does not seem to be by chance, but because of current conditions.

And, that leads me to ask, why are these current conditions so different that they have appeared to create a new acronym, EO?

Have we never been in this space before?
