White House Preparing Executive Order to Abolish the Dept of Education

The planned order follows years of campaign promises from President Donald Trump to abolish the department -- something he cannot do without congressional approval.

If Trump dismantles the Dept. of Education, he will be jeopardizing public education for our most vulnerable communities. Rural schools. Low-income areas. Special ed teachers and students with disabilities. Our families, kids, and teachers deserve more.

We're all about to learn that you can do just that. It won't be legal, but there's no one to stop it. The GOP is fully behind it. Will the courts do anything about it? Unknown. More importantly, though, is if and that's a big if, who will enforce the court's decision? Who is going to stop it?

I note that EO now seems to be an appropriate abbreviation for Executive Order on this most august site.

That does not seem to be by chance, but because of current conditions.
