Politics and relationships can be a tricky mix -- would YOU stay with a partner whose values clash with yours? This conversation is about more than just Trump -- it's about love, loyalty, and where we draw the line in our relationships.

Gingrich Can't Believe Wives Are Told They Can Vote Differently to Husbands (November 2024)
www.yahoo.com

... Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Fox News host Sean Hannity freaked out together Thursday about a pro-Kamala Harris ad narrated by Julia Roberts, who emphasizes that wives don't have to vote how their husbands want them to, nor tell them who they voted for at all. ...

Why do you seem to think that a wife should vote as her husband instructs her to vote?

Life is hard enough without living in shallow relationships.

Good riddance.

Lamp,

"Why do you seem to think that a wife should vote as her husband instructs her to vote?"

Sounds like this article was about women who expect him to vote like her and share her values.

Aren't you getting it backwards in this particular video?

Either way, if a couple can't handle having different political viewpoints and can't seem to resist arguing about it, they're both better off finding someone else.

Typical blame it on the woman. Maybe the guy is generally unlovable... she's better off without him.

Yeah, there's that aspect.

But that is not the aspect I had raised an objection to in #5.

Lamp,

"Or, maybe, he didn't really love her?"

Why do you say that?

You're saying he should change his beliefs just because he loves her?

That is absolutely no way to build a relationship.

I saw a phrase once about relationships, "Expectations can break your heart"

You must be one of those "he'll change" people going into relationships.

I saw another funny quote.

"He thinks she'll never change and she thinks he will".

Leave it to Danni to put up a thread about hating male conservatives.

To Danni...are you celebrating these couples for their losses?

Do you have any idea how many people later in life regret losing the one person who really loved them and they loved in return...but couldn't get past some trival matter or worse yet friends urged them to break up?

Right,

"Typical blame it on the woman."

You're missing the point.

These are women who are leaving men over his political views.

If the guy is distant, unloving or abusive...that's a different thread.

These are women who are breaking up over politics and that is the discussion...leave out other stuff trying to justify the breakout.

It's her who can't get past his beliefs in this case.

Lamp,

"Christian Wife Submission: Should wives submit no matter what?"

Typical of people who just want to attack Christianity. Take verses out of context. Here's the whole verse.

Ephesians 5:22 " "Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it."

You ask "no matter what"...come on...use your brain on that one.

@#13 ... These are women who are leaving men over his political views. ...

Oh, I'm not missing the point.

I ask, again, why are the women leaving?

maybe because, according to #9 ...

...Christian Wife Submission: Should wives submit no matter what? ...

And the wives are tiring of that?

#15 | Posted by LampLighter at 2025-03-08 08:31 PM | Reply

You ask "no matter what"...come on...use your brain on that one.

You don't use your brain, though.
Let's use your Bible on that one, like you do.
What's over the line? What does The Bible forbid a man to do to his wife?
Surely you must know.

#16 | Posted by snoofy at 2025-03-08 08:33 PM | Reply

Here's another verse people take out of context frequently about telling children to obey their parents.

Ephesians 6:1 "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath"

I will admit when it comes to taking verses out of context and building entire displines and way's of life based on these selected verses, Christians are some of the worst for doing that.

OpEd: "A woman is like a child": MAGA quickly turns its sights on stripping Republican women of power (February 2025)

Soon other TheoBros jumped in, declaring "We need Christian men leading the fight against abortion," arguing that women's suffrage was a mistake, and accusing Hawkins of emasculating her husband by being "busy jet-setting." ...

Webbon and the TheoBros have been clamoring more loudly in recent months about their wish to strip women, especially their own wives, of the right to vote. "You won't let women vote? Lamp,

I want to point out that verse is about wives....it's not a blanket statement geared toward women.

I suppose if a couple is just playing house and not married. I guess it wouldn't apply?

Relationships are complicated. I think the point of Bible verses about marriage is to provide some structure.

Some Christians think they're earning gold stars for following the letter of the law. I guarantee God isn't so easily impressed.

GYF BillJohnson. You're in record stating that if a cis woman is pregnant and wants an abortion yet the man wants to keep it. You've stated that he should have the right to force her to carry his child to term. Yeah you Republicans want to squash women's rights. Rotten little scoundrel.

Laura,

Any opinion I might have hardly can be said to represent republican ideology.

My opinions are simply my opinions.

Yes...I have questioned why men aren't allowed to have expectations regarding his reproductive rights.

If women expect those rights, why can't a man who wants to care for his child and even be the sole provider?

But...that's just my opinion.

Btw...you got your acronym out of order.

Republicans are enraged their wives might 'secretly' vote for Harris (October 2024)
www.dailykos.com

... Charlie Kirk, whose Turning Point USA organization is working on the turnout operation for Trump's campaign, said it's horrible that women would "undermine their husbands" even though the husband "works his tail off to make sure that she can have a nice life." ...

Fox News' Jesse Watters went even further, saying Wednesday night that he would consider it a form of cheating if his wife voted for Harris.

"If I found out Emma was going into the voting booth and pulling the lever for Harris, that's the same thing as having an affair," Watters said of his wife, who at one point was his mistress during his first marriage.

After seeing the Julia Roberts ad, John McEntee, a former Trump White House aide and Project 2025 author joked that giving women the right to vote should be repealed.

"This video has made me rethink the 19th Amendment," McEntee said. ...
