"The document references the U.S.-Ukraine minerals deal, which Trump has said will be signed on Thursday.

The intrigue: The plan was drafted after Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff met with Putin for more than four hours last week.

After the plan was presented, Putin offered to pause Russia's invasion along the current front lines as part of a potential deal, the FT reports."

"Vance issues Ukraine ultimatum after Rubio snubs key London meeting

The US proposal that has caused deadlock includes recognizing Russia's control of Crimea, the southern Ukrainian peninsula illegally annexed by Moscow, an official familiar with the framework told CNN. It would also put a ceasefire in place along the front lines of the war, the official said.

Any move to recognize Russia's control of Crimea would reverse a decade of US policy.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky made clear Tuesday that he was open to talks with Russia, but that Kyiv would not accept a deal that recognizes Moscow's control of Crimea.

"Ukraine will not legally recognize the occupation of Crimea," he told reporters. "There is nothing to talk about. It is against our constitution."

That, effectively tells Pres Putin that this would be a temporary cease fire / peace plan, allowing Pres Putin to invade Ukraine once again in the future.

To me it looks like Pres Trump's "peace plan" is to hand Ukraine over to Russia in the mid- or long-term, while crowing about a short-term transactional "win" for him and loss for Ukraine.

Trump Tower Moscow, Rare Earths and Geopolitical Perks: How the Kremlin Plans to Bait Trump Into a Grand Bargain

To secure that goal, the Kremlin is now scouring for incentives it believes can catch and hold President Donald Trump's attention, ranging from rare earths deals and geopolitical leverage in Iran and North Korea to a long-dreamed-of Trump Tower in Moscow.

Five current Russian government officials, including two diplomats, three sources close to the Kremlin and employees of three major state-owned companies confirmed this to The Moscow Times, all speaking on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter.

"The main thing is that they [the Americans] don't interfere in our affairs and don't tell us how to live," said a senior Russian official familiar with the Kremlin's negotiating logic. "That they don't hinder us in doing what we are doing."

Some in Moscow also envision symbolic gestures of recognition as part of a potential agreement, such as President Vladimir Putin visiting Washington and meeting Trump in the White House.

"If our boss [Putin] occasionally comes to Washington to meet with Trump " that would also be nice," a current government official said."

"Republicans are against raising minimum wage and fight against it every chance they get."

The minimum wage is a nonsense number and would be meaningless in the absence of illegal immigrants suppressing wages. Wages are supply and demand - which is why almost no workers actual earn minimum wage - market forces have already pushed wages beyond this level. Why you want illegals to flood the country and keep our lowest wage earners at or slightly above the minimum wage is the better question.

"The jobs undocumented immigrants perform will not get replaced by American citizens."

They already are - how do you think housing has continued to be constructed? Wages will increase, automation will increase (making the US more productive vs. the world), and we can use targeted guest worker programs where needed to provide the labor without the negative externalities by not allowing them to bring their children and utilize the social service programs meant for US citizens.

"Immigrants, documented and undocumented, are what makes America Great."

Really - Republicans destroyed the LAUSD or the Chicago or Baltimore school districts? These are run top to bottom by Democrats and they have destroyed the public school system in the US. And your wealthy ------- deep blue residents sure don't fix the problems - they simply ship their kids to private school while watching the public schools collapse.

You really should stop posting such bullshht.

Republicans fighting against raising minimum wage has zero to do with undocumented immigrants.

You have zero basis in reality for this statement other than to pit minimum wage workers against undocumented immigrants.

It's pointless to entertain such stupid nonsense.

Republicans warn the raising minimum wage will raise prices.

What do you think will happen to prices should undocumented immigrants be replaced with (nobody, but for the sake of discussion) minimum wage workers?

Fact, no American Citizen will do the jobs undocumented immigrants do.

They already are - how do you think housing has continued to be constructed?

You're going to see a drastic decline in construction jobs as people have to decide whether to spend exorbitant amounts of money on home improvements or on food to feed their families.

Saying "wages will go up" is delusional.

People use undocumented immigrants to get work done because that's what they can afford.

Fill in the blank:

1) deport undocumented immigrants

2) ???

3) wages go up

Feel free to spin whatever tale you desire because that shht isn't ever gonna happen.

Republicans are currently doing everything the can to eliminate programs and benefits for poor people.

There's no way people like you will suddenly support raising the minimum wage. You couldn't care less.

automation will increase

So, more unemployment and homelessness. Just what America needs.

Only in your mind -------.

No, in reality dumbfkkk.

Between tobacco plantations to building the trains and the skyscrapers and Hollywood and feeding the nation, it's all be done by people the government treats like second class citizens and scapegoats every chance they get. Like Trump and Republicans currently are.

Republicans destroyed the LAUSD or the Chicago or Baltimore school districts?

Absolutely. Especially with the voucher program they passed under Betsy DeVos.

Republicans hate educated people. Educated people are harder to control and aren't as willing to give all their money to billionaires

Fact is. Educated people vote for democrats and trump loves the poorly educated.

Prices may rise a bit - but government spending will decrease as our most vulnerable earn more money - likely a living wage. Schools would drastically increase as instruction can focus on English only and US citizens vs. trying to get poor migrants up to grade level.

"Fact, no American Citizen will do the jobs undocumented immigrants do."

False.

"You're going to see a drastic decline in construction jobs as people have to decide whether to spend exorbitant amounts of money on home improvements"

Good - it is way past time that the US stopped relying on slave labor. Pay labor what it is worth and prioritize the construction that needs to happen.

By the way. You seem to have skipped over explaining why minimum wages would increase. It appears you haven't a clue. You just have insistence.

Prices may rise a bit - but government spending will decrease

Prices will definitely raise, but government spending wouldn't decrease in a way to benefit Americans.

We spend more on incarceration than on education.

The biggest issue with public education is that classrooms are overcrowded and teachers are underpaid.

School districts need more money, teachers need more money, and students need smaller class sizes to get more individual attention from their teachers.

"You seem to have skipped over explaining why minimum wages would increase."

Supply and Demand

"Prices will definitely raise, but government spending wouldn't decrease in a way to benefit Americans."

Wages increasing for the poorest Americans will not cut their dependence of social services? You really need better talking points.

"What's a living wage? Again. Zero republicans will support raising the minimum wage and they scoff at the notion of a living wage."

You don't need it federally mandated - it is a matter of supply and demand.

"Your argument ignores half a century of Republican legislation to disenfranchise American's middle class and poor."

Really? Because the areas with the highest concentration of Democrats over the last 50 years lead the nation in income inequality and homelessness. But, again, be the perpetual victim and blame the GOP for the problems you created with your votes.

"it is way past time that the US stopped relying on slave labor.
But slave labor is what made America great."

The GOP freed the Democrats slaves once - now, they are doing it again.

"The majority of Americans aren't millionaires and billionaires who will be able to absorb the additional costs being put upon them."

They will, because they will make more money and benefit more from the things they are already funding - like schools and social programs.

"Saying "wages will go up" is delusional."
It is basic supply and demand.
And what exactly does that have to do with wages?"

The fact that you ask this question just goes to should how intellectually void your arguments are on this point.

"You think iPhones and teslas will suddenly become cheaper?"

Telsas are already majority made here - iPhones will go up. But, the labor component in an iPhone is about $20 - or less than 2% of the sales price. If iPhones are made by Americans earning $25/hr or more, it make make this labor component go up to $40. So, the price of an iPhone would go from $900 to $920 if the full cost of the labor is passed on to the consumer. Yes, I think US consumers can afford that and it would make the country stronger.

"Or employers will pay higher wages so their employees can buy more?"

Read about Henry Ford -------.

"We spend more on incarceration than on education.
#49 | Posted by ClownShack"

We spend more on a lot of things - that has nothing to do with the fact that school districts 100% run and controlled by Democrats for the last 50 years having crashing test scores despite soaring budgets - and it has ---- all to do with the GOP - who has ZERO control of the LAUSD, Chicago, or Baltimore failing school districts. "But slave labor is what made America great."

And slave traders. And slave owners, like George Washington, and dear old Martha!

blackagendareport.com

AG: Now tell us why Washington, quoting your book, "rotated his human property for six month intervals between Pennsylvania and Virginia."

MK: Well, the US capital, before Washington DC was built, kept moving further south. It was first in New York City, where Washington was inaugurated, then it moved on to Philadelphia while this new city was being built.

And Pennsylvania had a law which said that any enslaved person who was in Pennsylvania for more than six months could petition for their freedom. And this created a problem for George Washington, because that meant the people he held could potentially be freed. So he never allowed any of them to be in Philadelphia for that six-month period, which was a violation of the spirit and the letter of that law, because the authors of the law had realized that such a loophole would allow people to do what Washington did. And so this rotating people in and out was forbidden in that statute. Washington consciously and deliberately broke that law.

AG: So the father of our country broke the law to hold on to his enslaved people.

MK: Yes, he did. He and his wife Martha owned more than 200 human beings. Most of those were people who were called dower slaves. That is to say, they belonged to the estate of Martha Washington's first husband, Daniel Parker Custis. And the fact that Washington and his wife owned so many people is very, very significant. It explains a lot about this country.

@#49 ... The biggest issue with public education is that classrooms are overcrowded and teachers are underpaid. ...

Yup

Especially the "underpaid" aspect.

But the student-to-teacher ratio is also a concern.

Of course, that leads me to ask...

If Republicans seem to be so critical of public schools, why don't the Republicans then fund public schools properly?

Might it be because public schools have to educate everyone, and not just the oligarchy's offspring?

Because the Republican motto seems to be, "public education isn't working properly, so let's scrap it."

Law of Supply and Demand - you can google it. When supply becomes more scare without a change in demand - the price paid for the supply increases. It is the most basic concept in economics.

"@#49 ... The biggest issue with public education is that classrooms are overcrowded and teachers are underpaid. ...
Yup"

The average LAUSD class size for middle school is 32.5 kids - that means each classroom is getting $747,500 in taxpayer money. If they can't figure out a way to pay teachers better - that is 100% a DEMOCRAT problem as they control EVERYTHING in the school district.

"Especially the "underpaid" aspect."

The average LAUSD teacher salary is $73,141 - this is based on a 180 day working year vs. the 260 average working days for other full time employees - this translates into a $106K salary for an equivalent full time job - oh, and the teachers get better benefits. The average per capita income in LA is $46,270. How much more do we need to pay teachers beyond the average worker in LA before test scores increase? 3x, 4x?

"If Republicans seem to be so critical of public schools, why don't the Republicans then fund public schools properly?"

They are already funded properly - private schools with lower per-pupil spending have way better test scores. Which is why the Democrats are more concerned about protecting the teacher union than educating kids. If they cared about education, they would be putting money into charter schools and cutting administrative waste. These are steps that are 100% IN THEIR CONTROL. There is no GOP stopping them from anything. Instead, they lean into failure.

"Might it be because public schools have to educate everyone, and not just the oligarchy's offspring?
#57 | Posted by LampLighter"

No oligarch would send their kid to public school -------. All Democrat politicians send their kids to elite private schools. The K-12 daycare of failure is for your kids only.

I remember when lefties of all stripes claimed we brought 9/11 on ourselves. Now you all get to play by your own rules.

Russia annexed all of Crimea under Obama and started this war of aggression against Ukriane under Biden.

Throughout history, to the victors go the spoils. The status quo is forever war. Russia losing is the US escalating and possibly precipitating a global war. Russia keeping some of the territory gained and agreeing to a cease-fire and hopefully a truce I believe is in our best interests given the other options.

I don't know if that's how it will actually play out but it seems like the least worse course of action to me.

Scared? No. Do you want perpetual war and possibly WWIII for Ukraine? Russia is a political adversary but not an outright enemy. Do you want to change that metric and go to war? Are you completely unconcerned with their nuclear stockpile? At least a thermonuclear war will rapidly reverse global warming and trigger an ice age, right?

That argument can be used for appeasing any and all Russian aggression, no matter which one of our allied nations it is targeted at. Assuming you even believe that we have such a thing as allies in this world Trump has demanded you adopt. Other than Russia, I mean.

Do you want to change that metric and go to war?
I want us to supply Ukraine with all the tools they require to defend themselves. Just like China, North Korea, and Iran are doing for Russia to help it in its war of aggression. Or is sticking up for others only permissible when Putin is the beneficiary?

Are you completely unconcerned with their nuclear stockpile?

Folding like a house of cards because your traitorous cowardly leader demands it. Because Trump wants something from Russia that can only be purchased by the US abandoning its allies and position of world leadership.

Yes, and that's why Afghanistan is now part of the Soviet Union.

You speak with great certainty for a citizen of a country that has had its butt handed to it numerous times by outmatched nations that decided it was better to fight than to surrender.

A war of attrition does Russia no favors
And, contrary to what Trump might murmur out of the corner of his mouth while slurping on Putin's manhood, Putin is not immortal.

You posit a false dichotomy. You seem resolute on disregarding at least one other option: forcing Russia to continue fighting a war of attrition with Ukraine. Ukraine, which wishes to continue defending itself. Leaving Russia markedly weaker with every man/tank/personnel carrier that Ukraine takes out. At zero risk to the lives of American troops and a much lower monetary cost than if we did the deed ourselves. Which most Americans would see as a positive.

Almost like you, much like your chosen Orange Traitor President, wish to force Ukraine to surrender so you can strengthen Russia.

This war has dragged on entirely too long.

It's time to settle it, rebuild Ukraine, and turn our focus back to real problems here at home.

We're facing inflation, crime, and a mess created by decades of open borders.

Meanwhile, liberals are still busy screaming about nonsense while the country falls apart.

It's time for Trump to tell them to sit down, shut up, and put America first again.

I have a feeling, they're more than capable of figuring out what's best for themselves.

I feel like an unintended side effect of all of this is the European nations are gonna grow closer and form stronger bonds.
