ICE is not the Gestapo. ICE is the SS.

Donald Trump is a dictator in the mold of Hitler.

If he is permitted to be as successful as Hitler was, then millions of Americans will be hurt, imprisoned, and killed.

We already have concentration camps, which are soon to become forced labor camps, which in turn will be just a step away from death camps ... this is how the Nazis did it.

Congratulations Rcade, the first two comments are from the two most unhinged people on this site. As for the actual article itself, again we are giving people $1,000 to leave and a plane ticket if they want. So it's either the easy way where you have the opportunity to apply for a proper green card after you leave or the hard way. This isn't tough to figure out.

You misspelled Deportation there Snoofy. Look if I were in this situation I'd rather be deported to where I came from as opposed to some place I might not want to end up. It's all about incentivizing a person to do the right thing and it's all legal. Anyways, we're closed for business for the illegals and they're going to learn that.

Venezuela went Communist leftist just like most big cities and NYC is heading. It was once an affluent country. Going Communist means losing not winning. It also means replacing your freedom with government promises and controls and rules of the connected govt hacks.

Clueless Biden brought millions of unvetted uninvited illegal foreign nationals and criminals. Democrats put foreigners ahead of American citizens. Biden should be in that prison.

The widely circulated stories of Vietnam War veterans being spat on upon their return home are largely considered a myth. While it's difficult to definitively prove a negative, extensive research, including studies, polls, and examinations of historical records, have found no credible, contemporaneous evidence to support the idea that spitting on veterans was a widespread or even common occurrence.
Scholars and historians who have investigated this topic, like Jerry Lembcke, argue that the narrative of spit-upon veterans emerged years later and may have been used to discredit the anti-war movement or to provide an alibi for the war's outcome.
It's important to note that many Vietnam veterans did face challenges and difficulties upon their return, including indifference or hostility from some segments of the population. There was also a lack of adequate support and resources for veterans dealing with the physical and psychological effects of the war, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). However, th

You seem to be applying "American Exceptionalism" to the American concentration camps:

Prominent examples of historic concentration camps include the British confinement of non-combatants during the Second Boer War, the mass internment of Japanese-Americans by the US during the Second World War, the Nazi concentration camps (which later morphed into extermination camps), and the Soviet labour camps or gulag.

Theres no reaction to be had without Republicans building the camps, so you're arguing yourself into a pretzel.

You give me too much credit, and you don't give Republicans enough.

Republicans love sending people to camps.

That love does not hinge on who complains about it.

Obviously they would expect Liberals to hate it, because in their mythology Liberals are leading an invasion of illegals to destroy America.

It's been my my reaction when republicans are screaming about what democrats do.

You lack the attention span to comprehend this.

You spend all your time selling outrage.

You suck at it.

What I think is going to happen is Trump is going to send millions of people to camps.

How that alters the course of history is anybody's guess.

The beginning and ending of my prognostication is Trump doing his level best to send millions of immigrants to concentration camps.

I don't get it.

You're saying they only did the camps because it makes Liberals sad.

The $150B ICE budget is just to anger Liberals.

You're saying there's nothing more to it, but there is more to it, there is the ongoing erosion of civil rights and civil society.

What you are doing is a roundabout way of you simply ignoring what Republicans are doing, by making the topic be Liberals. Flirting with the insinuation that Republicans wouldn't be snatching people off the streets and sending them to camps if only Liberals weren't so upset about it.

They're not sending people to camps to make liberals mad. When it comes to liberals, they're sending people to camps to make liberals scared that liberals are next. And get Republicans excited that liberals are next.

Of course I believe it. In the linked article Trump says he wants every Governor to build a camp like DeSantis did.

You're kind of arguing IDF is only bombing Gaza to piss off liberals. No, they have an actual agenda, it's called Eretz Yisrael.

Republicans have Project 2025. Maybe you should look into it.

Maybe a politically aware Republican Joe 6-pack, which seems kinda like an oxymoron.

I don't think general support for camps is really that high.

They are not being charged with a crime. They are being deported. 5th amendment doesn't apply. Oh, and for the record, I think this deportation effort is over the top and needs to be slower and more deliberate.

"They are not being charged with a crime. They are being deported."

Is "being deported" a legal proceeding? Yes.

Then the Fifth Amendment guarantees that people have a right to Due Process.

If what you are saying is true, then a citizen could also be deported since they are not being charged with a crime either. Naturally, you're okay with that. And naturally, you won't acknowledge it.

yet another example of lying piece of ---- jeff lying

Fifth Amendment
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

To repeat...

No person shall be ...deprived of life, liberty, or property,

Criminality has nothing to do with this.

If you are being deprived of Life, Liberty or property, you are entitled to "without due process of law"

Something known and a foundational concept of western civilization since the Magna Carte.

Unless one can explain how being detained in a concentration camp, er' deportation camp isn't deprivation of liberty

OR

how being sent to a third world hellhole in the midst of a war where you do not speak the language, isn't deprivation of liberty

OR

how being deported without an opportunity to gather your belongings isn't deprivation of property

Well then the concept that the 5th only applies to criminals is simply a lie
But jeff knows this
Jeff KNOWS he is lying

Jeff is not a good person

Jeff, is, in fact, a bad person

#116 | Posted by snoofy at 2025-07-20 07:58 PM | Reply

the Fifth Amendment includes a due process clause stating that no person shall "be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law". en.m.wikipedia.org

Republicans would have us believe people being sent to camps are not being deprived of liberty.

#117 | Posted by snoofy at 2025-07-20 08:02 PM | Reply

Alternately, Republicans would have us believe people being sent to camps are not even people.

Immigrants do not get rights, because immigrants are not people, under the laws of the United States. That's the America Republicans want.

#118 | Posted by snoofy at 2025-07-20 08:07 PM | Reply

The Fifth Amendment to the Constitution says clearly that no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without the due process of law. Note that this says person, not citizen, and over the years the Supreme Court has consistently ruled that the Due Process Clause applies to all people in the United States.

#119 | Posted by LauraMohr at 2025-07-20 08:51 PM | Reply

"the Supreme Court has consistently ruled that the Due Process Clause applies to all people in the United States."

JeffJ says immigrants are not subject to the Constitution.

If the Constitution does not apply to immigrants in the United States, then it's not illegal for immigrants to be here.

If the Constitution does not apply to migrants, then migrants are not subject to Federal law. Since all Federal law finds its authority in the Constitution.

I hope Republicans actually argue JeffJ's point in court, and win, and then it becomes illegal for ICE to detain immigrants.

And by the Fourteenth Amendment, immigrants would not be bound by State laws either.
