One more thing. Florida has the second highest prevalence of Alzheimer's disease in the US, after California. In 2023, it was estimated that about 12.5% of Floridians aged 65 and older had Alzheimer's: ~579,900 people. In 2025, the number of residents with Alzheimer's in Florida may reach or exceed 720,000 people (Source: AI platform).

Trump/MAGA would say that it's time for Floridians to quit their jobs to care for elderly family members,

Suck-up, butter cups. You never needed your income anyway. That's money that belongs to the Trump family and their buddies.

But, Trump is not going to allow Florida to go Blue over this next year.

There is no amount of American suffering that he will allow to stand in the way of what is his.

Floridians are also beset with rising condominium costs to upgrade their buildings and higher property insurance premiums because of weather-related damage. Water pollution is endemic and flesh-eating bacteria have victimized people. The US Army Soldier who allegedly "Charlie Kirked" his bullying colleagues in Georgia earlier this year bought his firearm in Florida.

Toxic Waters.

This is a Red State governed by a double Ivy League graduate who makes tax free gun purchase holidays to distract from these Third World conditions. In the race for bottom, Red State Florida is leading the way, probably followed closely by Texas.

Too bad the Democrats ------ up even when they tried to "copy" it.

The Massachusetts plan didn't have a health insurance market place. It didn't have the anyone can join mentality, and was much more restrictive. ObamaCare was written for the insurance industry, to grow it.

Maybe if Democrats weren't so in bed with Lobbyist Obamacare could have actually worked. Even the Obamacare architect left the White House for pharmaceutical industry job.

The Influence of Vested Interests on Healthcare Legislation in the USA, 2009"2010
www.tandfonline.com

Which makes me wonder as a Democrat, if the Elite Democrats can't copy something, WTF are they good at? Even Bernie is throwing Biden under the bus regarding immigration.

The really strange part for me as a Liberal is Democrats pushed to grow the health insurance industry, far enough, but then when a CEO of the health insurance industry was murdered in cold blood because of profits, they collectively cheered his killer.

Bob McMichael, 63, and his wife, Leslie, 62, already know they won't.

Both are retired and make about $42,000 a year. They currently pay $51 a month for their ACA plan. Late last month, they got a notice that their monthly premium would increase to $2,232 next year without the subsidies.

This what TrumpCare looks like.

Yup.

I readily admit that the initial ACA plan may have needed improvement.

But killing ACA is quite different than improving it. When a patient goes to see a doctor, does the doctor kill the patient or try to make the patient better?

And, as you note, the Republicans have been all words, and no actions regarding improving it.

For example ...

Candidate Trump on healthcare:

May 21, 2015
I'm not going to cut Medicare or Medicaid.

Sept 25, 2015
Everybody's got to be covered.

Feb 17, 2016
We're going to have great plans. They're going to be much less expensive and they're going to be much better.

Oct 25, 2016
You're going to have such great healthcare at a tiny fraction of the cost, and it is going to be so easy.

Nov 13, 2016
It will be better healthcare, much better for less money. Not a bad combination.

"I'm not going to cut Social Security like every other Republican and I'm not going to cut Medicare or Medicaid."
-- Trump to the Daily Signal in May 2015

"We will immediately repeal and replace ObamaCare - and nobody can do that like me. We will save $'s and have much better healthcare!"
-- Trump tweet in February 2016

Pres-elect Trump on healthcare:

"We're going to have insurance for everybody ... There was a philosophy in some circles that if you can't pay for it, you don't get it. That's not going to happen with us."
-- Pres-elect Trump to the Washington Post in January 2017

Pres Trump on healthcare:

"Our healthcare plan will lower premiums & deductibles -- and be great healthcare!"
-- Trump tweet in May 2017

How has Pres Trump been since then on healthcare?

So...the taxpayers have previously been covering $26k of their healthcare premiums?

The average monthly premium for someone age 60 is $1208.

Bob and Leslie need to find a new insurance company.

Examples like these remind me of when I'm booking airline tickets, and one airline is charging $13k while the others are charging $3k. If you think you can get $13k, go for it. I don't think you will.

'So...the taxpayers have previously been covering $26k of their healthcare premiums? The average monthly premium for someone age 60 is $1208.'

That's per person. Multiply that out, it's almost $29,000 per couple, per year. And that's at 60, which is lower than each of the next four years will be.

"Bob and Leslie need to find a new insurance company."

What good would that do, when EVERY plan costs more at 63 than at 60?

Obamacare caused insurance premiums to skyrocket. I watched as coworkers with families were suddenly paying 900 + per month when previously they were paying under 300 per month.

They tried to jack up my rates too by several hundred per month but being single young and healthy, I just cancelled my insurance. I was not going to pay a ton for coverage I barely used.

Healthcare unlike widget manufacturing is not most efficiently provided by for profit insurance companies . The ACA was an attempt to retain the capitalist model functioning in the U.S. virtually all other modern democratic nations have moved away from for profit insurance companies and the added costs of that profit and moved to socialized healthcare like Medicare for all! Attempts to tinker with the present for-profit system fail because healthcare isn't a commodity that can be mass produced. America has been brain washed for many decades to prevent consideration of a healthcare system without greedy insurance companies involved but as long as they are it will be impossible to fix it.

Yes it did. In fact, the instructions EXPLICITLY STATE stuff like "dental insurance" doesn't qualify.

It is, according to the IRS. Every set of instructions points out what's acceptable, and what's not. Dental insurance, like cancer insurance, doesn't cut it.

And being stupid, or lying, doesn't cut it either.
