Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, April 22, 2026

Southern Poverty Law Center's interim CEO Bryan Fair claimed in a Tuesday video that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is investigating the organization and possibly preparing criminal charges. "Although we don't know all the details," Fair said in a video posted to the organization's YouTube account, "the focus appears to be on the SPLC's prior use of paid confidential informants to gather credible intelligence on extremely violent groups."

Meanwhile, from the 'liberal source' you cited (www.justice.gov):

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel made the announcement in Washington.

The details contained in the civil forfeiture complaint are allegations only."

The DOJ press release says FBI Director Kash Patel alleged the funds were used in ways that had extremist groups "facilitate the commission of state and federal crimes," and it says the indictment accuses SPLC of "manufacturing racism to justify its existence." In other words, they "used donor money to pay KKK to stage fake hate crimes" apparently to divide communities and especially cause hate within black people.

It's always been the Democrats..

Blacks are more violent, that's why they're in prison more than whites. This is actual closer to the truth. It's culture. Culture you progressives have cultivated.

That's not racism, that's just the way Blacks are. That's the way the culture is.

There are two types of blacks in our society. There's the ghetto, rachet blacks who fill the ghetto's the progressives created. And then there's the assimilated blacks, those who are free of the progressive/liberal/feminist plantation.

When your business is fighting racism, and the demand outstrips the supply... you gotta manufacture it.

That doesn't mean there isn't racism, but at some point if we are successful in growing as people and a society it will be driven into the shadows. That isn't good for those that have made combating it their livelihood. So we have to keep an eye on the watchers, as money does interesting things to those that once had good intentions.

"Legal experts skeptical of DOJ's criminal case against Southern Poverty Law Center

One said the 11-count indictment against the civil rights organization amounted to an abuse of the criminal law.'

"The conduct at the core of the indictment, paying confidential sources inside violent extremist groups to gather intelligence, is something federal law enforcement does as a matter of course," said Cassandra Burke Robertson, director of the Center for Professional Ethics at Case Western Reserve University law school.

"Charging a civil rights organization criminally for doing the same thing, in this political context, strikes me as an abuse of the criminal law."

from the above link:

"It is very thin, (and) does not adequately allege in my judgment any violation of the mail or wire fraud statutes (which are the indictment's key allegations)," said John C. Coffee Jr., a professor at the Columbia University Law School, in a statement.

"SPLC was under no duty to disclose to the world that it was paying secret agents to advise it about the activities of violent organizations. That it paid agents to inform it does not imply that it was supporting these organizations, even if the agents (with mixed motives) gave some of the payments to the organization."

Robertson said that organizations, including the government, regularly use confidential informants because it is an important tool to collect information about groups that actively withhold information about their activities.

In the indictment, the DOJ alleged several instances of wire fraud. But Robertson said "it doesn't seem to me there was any criminal intent at all."

"When you are paying an informant who is deeply embedded in a group that is engaged in violent activity, whether it is terrorism or others, you don't want to risk their lives by making it clear they were receiving payments," she said.

Robertson said the indictment doesn't even go as far as to allege any criminal intent to defraud financial institutions. The allegations were that SPLC tried to hide its activity from its donors.

;;

"That seems really problematic to me," Robertson said. "I don't believe the donors were, in any way, misled."

In the end, Robertson said the government will likely have a difficult time proving its case.

"I would be surprised if this case made it very far in the process," she said. "I would be absolutely shocked if it went all the way to a conviction. I think it will get dismissed earlier in the process."

You forcing a binary to it. There are no racists, or the racism is so strong they organized and marched.

I Fully believe there are racists in and around Charlottesville. I don't know there are enough that are so entrenched in the mindset to organize this, but with funding it becomes easier. Are there enough without it? Possibly. If SPLC did fund them though, then we really can't know for certain which it was.

I don't believe that any of them were there under a false flag though, If they were there they believed it.

The difference is the funding helping to pull them into a march/protest.

#61 What have Republicans done to end racism?

Off the cuff, nothing. But I also don't think the Democrats have either.

I feel the democrats have suffered from throwing gasoline on a fire under the guise of "well at least we are doing something". The democrats have absolutely taken actions that were said to be helping to reduce racism, I just think they succeeded in creating identity politics instead. Now everyone is in some sub group.

Racism will be beaten with unity not division. The democrats actions, imho, create more division. So while putting a lot of effort in, they have done nothing to help reduce racism.

If the republicans "do nothing" had been the only approach I think we would actually be in a better place. Those further Right and those further Left are not going to improve the state of racism, a neutral moderate mix of right and left leaning people with more in common if allowed to grow would be much more effective by just go existing with no "active" actions targeting racism.

#64 | Posted by kwrx25 at 2026-04-24 01:34 PM | Reply

"Racism will be beaten with unity not division."

Republicans will NEVER join that fight in their current state.
Here's why. Easy question:
Do you think Trump is racist, yes or no.

"The democrats actions, imho, create more division."

Name a few of these actions, and tell us who got divided by them.
Because I'm pretty sure it's just racists, and people who "just don't care" about racism, feel like they're getting "divided" by anything Democrats are doing on racism.

Like the Summer of 2020 protests. If you didn't think those protests were against racist police, then you're either racist, or you simply don't care about racism.

#65 | Posted by snoofy at 2026-04-24 01:41 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

Great example.

You're starting from the point that "the police are racist". The numbers don't bear that out(yes, there are racist cops) though, but according to a left leaning media you'd think the police in majority were out hunting black people.

So yes, the protests in 2020 were against the perception of racism. However if reported accurately with an eye on unity and not division to sell clicks and likes we could have probably made real improvements. Instead we moved further apart.

"There are two types of blacks in our society. There's the ghetto, rachet blacks who fill the ghetto's the progressives created. And then there's the assimilated blacks, those who are free of the progressive/liberal/feminist plantation. "

Stupidest comment I've read in a while

Name a few of these actions, and tell us who got divided by them

You are asking a stupid question, because you dont believe in what's being reported about the SPLC.

It's obvious who is the racist party and it's not the Republican party.

The secretary of Miami-Dade County's Republican Party started a group chat primarily for conservative students last fall " and within three weeks it was filled with racist slurs, someone wrote dozens of ways of violently killing Black people and the chat was renamed after what one member described as "Nazi heaven."

"You're starting from the point that "the police are racist". The numbers don't bear that out(yes, there are racist cops)"

"Yes, there are racist cops"
Is just another way of saying
The police are racist.
I don't know why you can't see it that way.

Do you really think an organization where racists operate freely can't rightfully be described as racist?

but according to a left leaning media you'd think the police in majority were out hunting black people.
#66 | Posted by kwrx25

You just made that up. That isn't depicted in any mass media you've seen either. Link up if you want to make me look like a dum dum!

But let's look at what the numbers bear out.
Here are some numbers we all saw.

One cop pulled George Floyd from the car and choked him out, while three other cops stood around doing nothing.

What those numbers bear out is "police in the majority" will let the racist cop commit murder.

Maybe that's not racism. You're so intent on claiming it's not racism that you don't seem to be bothered by the fact that even if it isn't racist, it's quite obviously murder, which one might think ought to bother you more.

But you spend most of the conversation denying cops are racist, like denying racism is a bigger concern for you than the fact that the cops are murdering people in the streets.

And if you can't agree that we both saw that, then you need to get your eyes checked.

White people like Pretti, even. You probably don't think that was police fascism, just like Freddie Gray and Eric Garner and George Floyd and Elijah McClaim was police racism.

Any of this getting through to you?

Racism is bigger than racist cops. It's bigger than the other three cops that let Chauvin murder Floyd. It's bigger than any police department. It's at least as big as the history of this nation.

But you seem to believe "the police aren't racist." All those racist police, and yes there are racist police, but somehow they don't add up to anything bigger.

That's like saying there's just a few isolated incidents of priests raping boys, there's nothing bigger connecting these unfortunate isolated incidents. Yet the media unfairly portrays most priests as predators.

It's not just that it's wrong.

It's that it's a lie, told by liars.

Without Western Civilization's humanitarian advances, the world would still be under slavery of many races.
The individual wouldn't be recognized. Democracy and Capitalism wouldn't exist.

Today there are little to no organizational race hate groups. You might find one or two individuals. Sure you can run around and talk about structural racism, but that falls down on the evidence. You have to destroy high "standards" of your own culture to make it work.

math and science is stopped because certain races can't keep up. Not my words...

The class was pulled 12 years ago in an attempt to reform middle school mathematics to promote equity and reduce racial disparities in math.

Showing up on time is bad ...

Clemson University's diversity-training course states that expecting people to show up to work on time is culturally insensitive.

The only thing that can support the claim of structural racism is when you declare being punctual and working hard is racist, the funny thing is us Asians kick ass over you Whites, no one mentions that...

You can't make this stuff up, its so backwards and retarded.

Trump is counting on white supremacists to rescue him in November by intimidating voters and setting fire to the nation, allowing him to declare martial law.
