I'm Not as Patriotic as I Used to Be

"I've been traveling a little bit over the past few days, and as many of us have seen, I noticed the giant American flags to the side of the highways or in front of car dealerships. How everything seems to have a patriotic fervor that is over the top. It's all about celebrating America's 250th anniversary. and this hyper patriotism almost feels mandatory.

Upon seeing all of these things, I now realize that I am not nearly as patriotic as I used to be.

Now, I don't mean that I still don't appreciate the freedoms that we enjoy in America or the blessings that God has given us, but I now understand how America has become intertwined with Donald J. Trump. He has successfully convinced large numbers of people that America is Trump and Trump is America.

Right before our very eyes, Donald J. Trump and America are evolving into one entity.

"As far as patriotism, there was a poll last year by Gallup which tracked how proud someone is to be an American by political party since 2001.

As you can see, 92% of Republicans say they are extremely or very proud to be an American, which surged after Trump was elected a second time, after he was elected the first time, and after 911.

Conversely, only 53% of independents and 36% of Democrats felt the same way. The numbers for these two groups also dropped dramatically during Trump's first and second terms."

The definition of "Patriotic" has changed under the auspices of Pres Trump.

Lately "patriotic" seems to mean an unabashed fealty to Pres Trump, bowing before him at every possible opportunity. (have you watched his Cabinet meetings?).

The past, and apparently fading, definition of "Patriotic" was a deep respect for The Constitution.

This guy is a liar, Democrats were never very proud of their country. Which is odd, even under Obama, they were less patriotic than Republicans.

So no its not about who is "running" the country as LegallySucksDick blames.
