More than 600 troops have been wounded in the Iran war, officials disclosed Saturday, almost 200 more than previously known.

Just a few days go officials denied hiding injuries:

They only count the dead... not the damaged... or the ones living permanently on the government dime because they are too fekked up to work... or the burden it puts on their families.

What a quandary for our commander in burger chef--visit the wounded in the hospital, or spend that time on the golf course. On one hand, he can have his picture taken with folks with life-altering injuries, and on the other he can play golf with some toady politician or washed-up jock. So tough to decide? What would Daddy do?

That was my father. For forty years he dealt with a world of ---- inside his head. You'd look at him in his worldly suit and tie striding down a marbled hall and figure he had it made, but the inside of his skull was a constant bee hive with an insistent ringing at the volume of a fire alarm. All it took was an anti-personnel mine to go off a few yards away from him as he was hoisting up a brother who located a toe popper with his boot. His brother shielded the shrapnel and took it all himself-- took the shrapnel and took the televised coffin ride, but my father took the whole of the blast and the 4 decades of PTSD.

Oh yeah, I forgot. My father didn't need much to remind him of the futility of elective warfare. He'd just show you a small raised red spot just above his elbow directly over the place where a piece of his brother's ulna was presumably still embedded. The same ulna he was gripping "the day the music died" (his words for it). FDJT.

But I'm curious....has all warfare since WW 2 considered to be "elective"?

In hindsight, it would seem so. Korea, Vietnam, and anything in the ME....all "elective".

but that's just what it seems to be from my view. I didn't serve and neither did my dad. My dad was of the age that he could have served in Korea but he wasn't drafted.

When my father returned home from Vietnam, he was exposed to Agent Orange. I hadn't seen him in almost two years... he was emaciated... skin was yellow... the whites of his eyes red... and his face was disfigured with lumps... I wasn't sure it was him... when he motioned me over to hug daddy... not at all like those promo pics of returnees... pictured as whole... greeting their kids on a tarmac...

He lasted 14 years... a stranger... crazy... dying by the inch... from friendly fire.

We haven't won a war in 80 years... Nearly a quarter of that in the last two... We've had two stalemates... Korea left the quagmire... Desert Storm stopped... by Bushtrud 1 to "avoid a quagmire" in the hopes it would end the "Vietnamization" of the military. A war his son avoided... but who sought to insert us into the quagmire... having never met a "quagmire" he couldn't buy his way out of... telling us poors... to be ready for a long hard televised slog... Mission accomplished!

Here we go again... cut the food stamps... they don't want no fat poor people to do the dirty work... Capitalism can't survive without an inslaved class.

That really sucks. The 70s and early 80s were rough, but he made do. By his early 60s he was really hard of hearing so that was the main problem that I recall. I was born in 91 so I missed all the really bad stuff, but my sister who is 15 years older still remembers. Occasionally he used to go into the garage where he'd have it out with a large canvas laundry sack filled with sawdust that he had hung from a rafter. That was his way of coping but it would scare my mom to death because she always thought one day she'd find him hanging out there next to the sack.

That's where they found my dad's dad; hanging from the rafters of the garage. Not sure why.

My dad lied about his age at 16 to go fight Nazis because he was afraid he'd miss the war. But he had to join the Air Force to get in, and he trained as a Navigator, so he still missed the war by a few months.

But he did fly many missions into occupied Berlin during the famous airlift of food. Afterwards, he was stationed in Hawaii, where he contracted avian flu as a carrier of the disease, which eventfully killed him and my mom, and it may still kill me, too.

The consequences of war extend far beyond the battlefield, as some of the stories here show.

In essence... what they were trying to do... by not calling it a war... was reverse the "Koreanization" and why Korea was called the forgotten war... because we lost... it was humiliating.. so rather than risk calling it a warrrrrrrrr... even though they were using draftees.

Then China got a nuke... and we started to make nice with China... now they own us.
Japan crushed our auto industry a couple years later.

We've literally been fighting Asia for the last 80 years...

7 out of 10 people on the planet are Asian... and here they're demanding that women breed so we have some people left over... I guess... whoever has the most left standing wins. No wonder kids are cutting their parts off... rendering themselves barren.
