Yeah, totally comparable.

"couldn't be held accountable"

He technically could have been held accountable, but the President gets an extremely wide berth for actions taken in furtherance of the Office of the President, like bringing some files home for work.

I mean seriously, what are you suggesting is an appropriate penalty here?

But hasn't the Supreme Court since legislated this from the bench? I thought a President couldn't be held accountable for this now. At least that's what Trump's lawyers argued.

To answer your question specifically. Yes. It is wrong.

Classified information is strictly meant to be reviewed within secure skiffs, designated rooms in the Capitol or congressional offices"never in a personal residence. Removing and storing classified papers at a home address violates the rules governing the handling of national security information.

He didn't lie to the FBI about having them, refuse to give them back, get other people to lie for him, then try to destroy evidence of him still having them LIKE SOMEONE ELSE DID.

This is about the 10th time you've pretended that giving it back immediately upon discovery, is the same thing as lying about it for months and months on end, enlisting others to lie about it months and months on end, enlisting the lawyers to lie about it on a signed form, and enlisting others to obstruct justice.

Most decidedly ... Not the same thing.

You've just crossed into Snoofy territory.

"One of Donald Trump's employees told FBI agents the former president ordered boxes of documents at Mar-a-Lago to be moved before federal agents searched the property, according to a source familiar with the matter.

The source also told NBC News that the FBI obtained security video showing people moving boxes out of a storage room at Trump's Florida estate."

Not just a president, but also a vice-president.

Fmr VP Pence was found to have classified documents in his possession after he left office.

Mike Pence classified documents incident
en.wikipedia.org

... In January 2023, Gregory Jacob, an attorney for former U.S. Vice President Mike Pence, said that a "small number" of classified documents had been found at Pence's house in Carmel, Indiana. The documents were originally obtained during Pence's time in the first Trump administration.

Jacob said Pence had engaged outside attorneys to search his home "out of an abundance of caution" after it was reported that classified documents were found in President Joe Biden's home and former office. The discovered documents were collected and removed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

A later FBI search of Pence's residence, agreed to by Pence, found a single additional classified document. On June 2, 2023, media outlets reported that Pence was informed by the United States Department of Justice that the investigation into him had been concluded and that he would not be charged. ...

Joe Biden classified documents incident
en.wikipedia.org

... On January 9, 2023, CBS News[1] reported that attorneys for U.S. president Joe Biden discovered classified government documents in his former office at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C., and in his personal residence in Wilmington, Delaware, dating to his time in the United States Senate and his vice presidency in the Obama administration.[2][3][4] The number of documents was later revealed to be between 25 and 30. By June 2023, classified documents from Biden's Senate tenure were discovered in materials donated to the University of Delaware.[5][6] ...

On November 2, 2022, Biden's attorneys discovered the first set of classified documents in a locked closet at the Penn Biden Center; they reported them that day to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), which retrieved them the next day. ...

On February 8, 2024, the Justice Department released the report by special counsel Hur, which concluded that the "evidence does not establish Mr. Biden's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt", so "no criminal charges are warranted in this matter".[9][10]

For classified documents found in the Penn Biden Center and in the University of Delaware, Hur judged that they "could plausibly have been brought to these locations by mistake".[11] For Afghanistan-related classified documents found in the garage of Biden's Delaware home, Hur stated that his investigation could not determine "why, how, or by whom" that material was kept.[11]

For Biden's handwritten notebooks found in Biden's Delaware home, which included classified content, Hur credited the possibility that Biden treated them as "personal property", given "historical practice" of the federal government allowing President Ronald Reagan to take home his diaries as "personal records" despite their classified content.[12][13][14] ...

Federal prosecution of Donald Trump (classified documents case)
en.wikipedia.org(classified_documents_case)

... United States of America v. Donald J. Trump, Waltine Nauta, and Carlos De Oliveira was a federal criminal case against Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States; Walt Nauta, his personal aide and valet; and Mar-a-Lago maintenance chief Carlos De Oliveira.[2][3]

The grand jury indictment brought 40 felony counts against Trump related to his alleged mishandling of classified documents after his first presidency, to which he pleaded not guilty.[4] The case marked the first federal indictment of a former U.S. president.[5]

On June 8, 2023, the original indictment with 37 felony counts against Trump was filed in the federal district court in Miami by the office of the special counsel, Jack Smith.[6][7][8][9] On July 27, a superseding indictment charged an additional three felonies against Trump.[10][11][12]

Trump was charged separately for each of 32 documents under the Espionage Act.[13][14]

The other eight charges against him included making false statements and engaging in a conspiracy to obstruct justice. The most serious charges against Trump and Nauta carried a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. ...

You are doing exactly what you are falsely accusing me of doing. And you are deflecting to Trump on a thread about Biden. What's disappointing is I know you are capable of being reasonable. I've witnessed it on occasion. Taking this tack makes no sense.

I've already said Trump deserves everything he gets from his handling of classified documents.

Well that's mighty white of you. Considering he is the prez with immunity and he has the supremes in his pocket and nothing can be done about it.

And hasn't Biden's case already been adjudicated? Why is it being relitigated?

Are we looking for ANOTHER distraction from the Epstein Files and Trumpy's forever war?

Translation: Still can't explain why Biden wasn't charged.

#50 | Posted by lfthndthrds

It's been explained to you dozens of times. Biden returned the documents upon discovery.

Trump launched a massive coverup.

How is that difficult for you to understand?

Any thread about classified documents charges automatically involves trump. The whole reason the cult wants biden charged is because their cult leader was charged.

To pretend biden's situation existed in isolation only makes you look dumber.

Can you show me - in the actual law - where it says, "no charges will be filed against people who take classified information and give it back when asked"?

Can you show me - in legal history - a case where the defendent's response to law enforcement wasn't considered in the way law enforcement handled their case?

It goes to INTENT.

Here ya go dumdum

"The legal concept you are describing is known as prosecutorial discretion.

While law enforcement officers exercise police discretion when deciding whom to stop, arrest, or investigate, the overall aggressiveness of the legal response"including what charges to file, whether to offer a favorable plea deal, or how hard to pursue maximum penalties"rests under prosecutorial discretion.

When prosecutors and law enforcement evaluate how to exercise this discretion based on the defendant's actions, they look at specific aggravating and mitigating factors:
Factors Influencing Prosecutorial Discretion

Aggravating Circumstances (Hiding the Crime): If a defendant actively conceals evidence, flees the jurisdiction, intimidates witnesses, or lies to investigators, law enforcement and prosecutors treat this as evidence of consciousness of guilt. These actions demonstrate a lack of remorse and often lead to elevated charges (e.g., adding obstruction of justice or tampering with evidence), higher bail requests, and a refusal to negotiate plea deals.

Mitigating Circumstances (Immediate Cooperation): If a defendant immediately surrenders, confesses, or provides substantial assistance (helping law enforcement investigate or prosecute others), prosecutors often exercise their discretion favorably. This can result in reduced charges, diversion programs, or lighter sentencing recommendations under established cooperation agreements.

Related Legal Concepts

Acceptance of Responsibility: In many judicial systems (including U.S. federal sentencing guidelines), demonstrating true contrition and cooperating early leads to a formal reduction in the recommended sentence severity.

Proactive vs. Reactive Enforcement: Law enforcement agencies use their discretionary authority to allocate investigative resources toward defendants who show high culpability or ongoing criminal effort, while scaling back aggressive tactics for low-risk, fully cooperative individuals."

Despite asking this three times, Turds will never touch it.

He can't.

Because the entire point of him posting this thread is due to a sad desperation to absolve Trump of his criminality.

It pertains to who the police even go after dumbass.

If you want to try it out, go drive 80mph til you get pulled over. Then hand over your license and registration and see what happens.

After you are let go, drive 80mph again until you get pulled over. This time, take off on a high speed chase until the police have to pop your tires, and see if you're treated any differently.

I'm talking about how law enforcement treats suspects differently based on their behavior.

And you are desperate to find a semantic fig leaf to cover your cult leader's microscopic genitals. Happy to spend another day looking like a fool for a con man as he drives your country into the ditch.

Another swing and a miss. Hey raetad, he's not a suspect anymore. Not only did he have the documents, he's recorded sharing classified information with his writer.

Just say it out loud. He broke the law and no one is going to do anything about it... And the first reason we were given is because of dementia - while he was still President.

I personally don't care if they do anything to punish him or not. But no amount of bullshit leaking out of you is going to change what actually happened.

Sure, let's get this straw sorted out.
You don't support deporting all those Hatians whose Temporary Protected Status just ended?
They came here legally, after all.

I doubt you care one way or the other. There isn't much you care about, when it comes to politics.

So you agree, he isn't a suspect. He's guilty because he produced the documents.

I don't know what Trump had, and I didn't hear him on a recording sharing it with a civilian who shouldn't have the information. Furthermore, Trump was an elected President, Biden - not so much - at the time of him taking the documents.

Did you really hear Biden sharing classified information on a recording?

Or did you just read a transcript where Biden says, "This is classified" but there aren't any words after that to indicate Biden actually shared anything?

In other words, you saw a transcript which supports the statement "Biden Tapes Include References to Notes Containing Classified Material"

You are a smart enough person to understand that "references to notes containing classified material" is not the same thing as "classified material."

You just choose not to be smart enough to understand that, because you like it better when you don't understand that.
