Republicans are more socialist than most Democrats. Republicans are in favor of, and actually implemented, public ownership of private businesses (Intel, Westinghouse, US Steel). Obama took stakes in companies during the financial crisis, but then EXITED those stakes (moved away from socialism). Trump has absolutely no plans to exit the public ownership of private companies. And has been adding more and more over time.

That's great. Now they just need to do away with their idiotic positions that will drive everyone away.

To be clear, I am completely opposed to the US government owning private companies. That it should only be done during an emergency, and then should be wound down like Obama did. While I think "socialism" like paid family leave is good for our society, I think the "socialism" where the government owns private businesses is bad for our society.

I am completely in favor of public ownership of the means of production. But when the government takes over a corporation, they should take ALL of it.

Intel is a good choice, all of the airlines should be public, all railroads should be public, all steel companies should be public, all energy companies should be public (not just limited territories like SRP and TVA), all banks should be public.

Obama screwed up by not maintaining control of GM, the government should take it back, along with Ford and Chrysler.

And for f---'s sake there should be NO defense contractors, those should ALL be publicly owned.
