While it is likely that this poor woman chose not to be vaccinated, it is very important to remember that there are those out there who cannot receive vaccinations due to adverse reactions. So knee-jerk victim blaming should not take place without all the facts. However, it is these very people that herd immunity most protects as they are involuntarily susceptible to the diseases most of us can choose to be protected from. This is what makes the anti-vax stance reprehensible. It is not just yourself that you are exposing to disease by your choice, it is also those who don't have the option to make the choice for themselves.

You're correct. A relative of mine cannot get the MMR since it would not work due to the medications they are on. That is why herd immunity is important. There are people out there that cannot get vaccinated and people who can and willingly choose to expose other to the virus because of foolish youtube videos and books that have no scientific facts supporting their claims are dangers to society at large.

It's a documentary from France and is about their response to the pandemic and is mostly about this character "Didier Raoult" and how he had taken advantage of the fears of people during the beginnings of the pandemic to boost his own self image and how he had invested in and promoted chloroquine as a cure for Covid.
I had not heard of this character before as I was more focused on Americas response. But the parallels to what happened here are obvious. The story of it explains a lot about how Trumpy and maga have come to be. I was left with some very strange and uncomfortable feelings about the nature of humans and how they act like mobs and are controlled by those in power and explains a lot about what has also happened in America.
It's a real study in human nature and the negative effects of the unsocial media and political power during a global crisis or any local crisis for that matter.
And the parallels to what happened in America are very clear. This does not bode well for our global response to the dangers facing us like AI and another reason the Singularity cannot be stopped.
