Well, the Southern states over the past years have boasted about how many people from the northern US have moved to their states.
Perhaps now they are seeing the tangible results of their boasts?
Or maybe, this is just a decision regarding Pres Trump?
Wish I knew.

It's time to celebrate. Bigger picture: It took the near-destruction of the USA in order for Texas to barely vote blue. A traitor is still the President. We still have a lot of work to do

I wonder if Elon Musk figured out that he doesn't have enough money to erase the stench of Trump in Texas.

What I love about this is that Elon moved his factories from California to Texas only to watch it flip blue.
I love this for him.

Trump's rage will be incandescent. Democracy has so hurt his fee-fees. Expect betrayal after betrayal from him as revenge.
Any of you Red folks want to come over to the side of your country now, you're welcome. It's much easier to forgive an ally than someone actively trying to kill my country for me.

Shocked you couldn't see this, it was inevitability. It's been in the cards for 10+ years now. Austin and its growth, plus all immigration, that has been happening for 15+ years.
Rage? He's going to relish his position. He thinks he GOP lost because his name wasn't on the ballot.
It's like you guys create a character analysis, then forget what it means.

You've characterized it as a very very dangerous warzone.
That didn't change.
It still is. Maybe worse now that those very very very dangerous people are really really really mad.
Stay inside, Zed. For your own safety

At this point, who wants anything from Trump? Who can he betray?
Who is going to take a call from that guy now? Even the republicans who won don't have to talk to him, do they? Never mind the lame ducks out there who would like to stab Trump in the temple with a letter opener right now.
What can Trump ask from any republican and expect any consideration?

The man is badly mentally ill. He'll rage at losing because that's what he always does. He'll plot revenge because that's what he always does.
This will be DESPITE blaming the defeat on everyone and everthing other than himself.

Oh, I think Trump will be raging on Truth Social for a long time. Because he didn't just wipe out in the midterms, he also lost a lot of the power he's been abusing. That's going to be a bitter pill to swallow.
Not to mention what this midterm shellacking will do to the GOP's presidential hopeful (J.D. Vance) in the next general ~ or any other candidate for that matter.
Then, there's the loss of all those oligarch donations (selling political favors) that will dry up.
Then, of course, there's the bitter impeachment and conviction with Vance, a lame duck pro tem, who will only be a further embarrassment to the GOP.
Trump doesn't like it when somebody says "NO" to him. And this midterm was the big one.

Unlike some of the posts on this site, Trump (or his handlers) are well aware of the consequence of this shellacking. It goes further and deeper than Trump's tantrums.

This is why I hate politics: "the Republicans are in charge and my life hasn't changed, everything is expensive and difficult! I'm voting in the Democrats and shaking it up!" Who then do nothing and four years later: "the Democrats are in charge and my life hasn't changed, everything is expensive and difficult! I'm voting in the Republicans and shaking things up!" Who then do nothing and four years later the cycle repeats.
nothing changed yesterday. Nothing at all. In 2 years we will be having the same discussion. The same anger will be boiling. It's ridiculous.
There is only ONE scenario where things change. Remove ALL private funding of elections. Period. Each level of federal elections candidates gets a certain amount of money to fund their campaign from the Fed. State elections the same from the state coffers. Everyone has the same amount. No hidden money. No one is beholden to anyone, may the best campaign win. There will need to be some tight rules on who qualifies of course.
That's it. That's the only scenario. Otherwise we continue to be the oligarchy we are.
Yesterday we voted for more of the same, but blue!

-Remove ALL private funding of elections.
If the democrats are serious, they can start creating the framework for that. Forget Trump's veto power....get it started. draft something that can be debated in committee...etc. the normal process of getting something passed.
Nothing is stopping the dems from doing that if they really want it.

If the democrats are serious, they can start creating the framework for that.
Democrats have a few months to make and enact a plan to solve the myriad of problems we face.
Republicans have a few months to pack their bags and cover their arses.
To show our empathy and compassion we will give em three steps toward the door.

if the democrats do this? I will vote blue no matter who for the rest of my life and be proud of it.
And now you know why republicans have continually tried to undermine and destroy any attempts for democrats to do just that. It would put republicans in the wilderness for a long time if not forever.
