Voicing opposition is one thing; threats are outrageous and should be condemned, no matter the source.

What threats? Here is the only claim of a threat in the linked article, which unhelpfully is not the Bluesky piece:

"The Woodlands indicated that they were receiving threats from people opposing Kyle speaking, so they withdrew their venue from the event."

That does not necessarily indicate violence. That does however match what is mentioned earlier in the article:

"How absolutely disgusting of The Woodlands. Never stepping foot in there again if this actually happens," another resident responded. "What the f"k??? Allowed that piece of --- here???" another said.

That could be seen as a "threat" to the business.
But it is not a threat of violence.
It is a threat of holding Woodlands accountable for their actions.

Also from the article, local Republicans know they are not popular: "The Republican Party of Luzerne County moved quickly to put distance between itself and the gathering, stating it had "no involvement, affiliation or connection" with the independent NEPA Republicans event." So the local Republicans are already distancing themselves from the little killer.

Here's another headline: PLAINS TWP. " Community outrage has jeopardized plans for a Republican rally featuring a keynote address from Kyle Rittenhouse after the venue, the Woodlands Inn and Resort, received threats against its staff, according to organizers with the NEPA Republicans group. www.citizensvoice.com

That's not a threat. That's civic participation.

Richard Falk served as the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967. The idea that a 95-year-old scholar, "one of the world's most respected experts on humanitarian law," constitutes a threat to Canada's national security is absurd on its face. But Falk's real "offense" is clear enough: He has spent much of his career holding Israel to account under international law.

Although Canada PM Mark Carney finally recognized the State of Palestine earlier this year, his government prohibited the popular Irish music group Kneecap from entering Canada because they champion Palestinian rights.

Canada has its own Israeli lobbying group, but it is not nearly as powerful as AIPAC. One of the pro-Zionist Canadians is MP Anthony Housefather who visited Israel in 2024 in support of the Gaza genocide. MP Anthony Housefather, House Republican Randy "The Hebrew Ham Sandwich" Fine (R-FL), oligarch Michael Bloomberg, and Laura Loomer must have all cheered reading the news that a 95-year-old scholar was callously detained by the CBSA for four useless hours.

Since 7 Oct 2023, Israel's retribution pogrom against the Palestinians in Gaza have resulted in 69,756 Muslims killed, the majority of them children and women; 170,946 have been injured or maimed. Ethnic cleansing continues unabated in the West Bank. Israel even evicted several Bedouins whose people for generations have enlisted in the IDF as part of their desert patrol.

An international arrest warrant issued by the ICC for war crimes remains active for Benjamin Netanyahu and ex-DM Yoav Gallant. The Istanbul Public Prosecutor in Turkiye issued nationwide arrest warrants for these two suspects, as well as 31 other Israelis accused of crimes against humanity. An indictment is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of a law.

Not rock or blues related, but watching Manitas de Plata (Ricardo Baliardo) (en.wikipedia.org) perform with his singer uncle, a performance that's stayed with me as an unusually vivid memory for nearly sixty years. The guitarist certainly earned his "Little Hands of Silver" moniker. Example: youtu.be

Zohran Mamdani appeared on national TV (NBC's "Meet the Press") and showed the US why we New Yorkers voted for him over Andrew 'Benedict Arnold' Cuomo and former McDonald's night manager Curtis Sliwa (who is an animal rights advocate).

Zohran wants to create a social services constabulary (armed or unarmed) to deal with mental illness cases and disturbed homeless people. The term NYPD uses for them is "EDP" (Emotionally Disturbed Person) and these EDPs are treated more as suspected criminals rather than genuine psych patients. Zohran's strategy will then free up the 35,000-strong NYPD to deal with more serious issues, resulting in less Tasering or shooting of EDPs.

Even though House Minority Leader Hakeem "I Got Mine" Jeffries (D-NY) rendered a late and tepid endorsement for Zohran, the NYC Mayor-elect signaled he wants Jeffries to stay on. NYC Councilman Chi Osse then dropped out of the race to primary Hakeem.

NYS Governor Kathy Hochul (D-NY) would be wise to support Zohran's initiatives for NYC as she will be facing the vapid Elise Stefanik (R-NY) in 2026 whose platform is smearing Zohran as a communist Muslim socialist antifa Marxist jihadist and the face of the Democratic Party.

Outside NYC, the Empire State is basically Red. In 2022 Hochul won with 3,140,415 votes with a 47% voter turnout. The repugnant Lee Zeldin (R-NY) garnered 2,762,581 votes. The incumbent Democratic governor will need our downstate 1,036,051 votes in 50 weeks time.

"All aboard the Zohran Mamdani Express!"

1968 Democratic National Convention
en.wikipedia.org

... The event was among the most tense and confrontational political conventions in American history, and became notorious for the televised heavy-handed police tactics of the host, Mayor Richard J. Daley of Chicago.

The most contentious issues were the continuing American military involvement in the Vietnam War, and expanding the right to vote to draft-age soldiers by lowering the voting age from 21 to 18 years old.

Dissatisfaction with the convention led to significant changes in the rules governing delegate selection, ushering in the modern primary election system.

The year 1968 was a time of riots, political turbulence, and mass civil unrest. ...

Frank Black - [I Want to Live on an] Abstract Plain (1994)
www.youtube.com

Lyrics excerpt ...

genius.com

...
I've had it with this town
I never saw those shifting skies
I never saw the ground
Or the sunset rise
I want to live on an abstract plain

I'm building a frame
A place to put my ten-yard stare
Thinking of that paint
Painted in plain air
I want to live on an abstract plain

I need a new address
I want some new terrain
Is it North or South?
I want to live on an abstract plain

I could sit on the roof
On top of that abstract house
See my abstract view
An abstract mouse
I want to live on an abstract plain

[Verse 1]
When I was young, I knew everything
And she, a punk who rarely ever took advice
Now I'm guilt-stricken, sobbin' with my head on the floor
Stop a baby's breath and a shoe full of rice, no

[Pre-Chorus]
Can't be held responsible
'Cause she was touching her face
I won't be held responsible
She fell in love in the first place

[Chorus]
For the life of me, I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise and we'd never compromise
For the life of me, I cannot believe
We'd ever die for these sins, we were merely freshmen

Inside the DOGE Succession Drama Elon Musk Left Behind
www.politico.com

... Over the subsequent days and weeks, rival factions would compete for control of what Musk had built. Some sought to burrow deep inside the federal government and continue business as usual; others wanted to collaborate openly with the parts of government they previously eschewed. One of Musk's chief lieutenants would openly defy White House orders to step down. At the same time, Musk was angling to lure remaining staffers to jobs at one of his private companies.

At a gathering in June, Donald Park, a senior DOGE figure, tried to reassure his colleagues that they were still "brothers in arms" and that Musk would continue to protect them.

This account of the DOGE supernova, which left behind nebulous remnants throughout the government, is based on contemporaneous notes, photographs, correspondence and screenshots of Signal chats provided by participants in them.

We interviewed nine former and current DOGE employees, along with four other administration and White House officials, many of whom were granted anonymity to candidly discuss internal deliberations without fear of retribution. ...

Fastball - Out Of My Head (1998)
www.youtube.com

Lyrics excerpt ...

genius.com

...
This Paul McCartney-esque ballad was released as the final single off of the band's sophomore album. The track features gospel-inspired organs as lead singer Tony Scalzo sings about a past relationship, and how he's stupid for doing "bad things" during it. The song was a moderate hit, charting at number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The track is most notable in recent years for Huston rapper Machine Gun Kelly's song "Bad Things", whose chorus interpolates this song's chorus, sung by former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello. In a recent interview with Billboard, Scalzo reacted positively towards the use of the sample.

[Verse]
Sometimes I feel like I am drunk behind the wheel
The wheel of possibility, however it may roll
Give it a spin, see if you can somehow factor in
You know there's always more than one way
To say exactly what you mean to say

[Chorus]
Was I out of my head? Was I out of my mind?
How could I have ever been so blind?
I was waiting for an indication
It was hard to find

Don't matter what I say, only what I do
I never mean to do bad things to you
So quiet, but I finally woke up
If you're sad, then it's time you spoke up, too

In Geneva, US and Ukraine officials report progress on ending Russia's war but offer few specifics
apnews.com

... Top U.S. and Ukrainian officials said Sunday they'd made progress toward ending the Russia-Ukraine war but provided scant details after discussing the American proposal to achieve peace that has sparked concerns among many of Washington's European allies that the plan is too conciliatory to Moscow.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said high-stakes talks in Geneva were "very worthwhile" and constituted the most productive day in "a very long time."

"I feel very optimistic that we can get something done," Rubio said.

But he offered very little information on what was discussed. He also downplayed a Thursday deadline set by President Donald Trump for Ukraine to respond to the plan, saying simply that officials want to see fighting stop as soon as possible and that officials could keep negotiating Monday and beyond. He said that higher-level officials may eventually have to get involved. ...

US and Ukraine announce updated' framework to end Russia's war
www.aljazeera.com

... The United States and Ukraine have announced a revised framework for ending the Russia-Ukraine war after an earlier proposal by Washington drew criticism for being too favourable to Moscow.

US and Ukrainian officials said on Sunday that they agreed that any deal to end Russia's war should "fully uphold" Ukraine's sovereignty as they unveiled an "updated and refined peace framework" that was scant on details.

"Both sides agreed the consultations were highly productive. The discussions showed meaningful progress toward aligning positions and identifying clear next steps," officials said in a joint statement following talks in Geneva, adding that the sides agreed on the need for a "sustainable and just peace".

Washington and Kyiv also reiterated their readiness to keep working together to "secure a peace that ensures Ukraine's security, stability, and reconstruction", the joint statement said. ...

We were sharing so many words and feelings
Age is heavier, it seems, than years alone
But, I told you things I wouldn't dream of telling anyone
Are we drifting out, like flowers from a forgotten someone

Don't go away
I can't feel sane without you

We were making so many plans and secrets
We would both be millionaires or kings or presidents
But like everything those little dreams
Just kind of came and went
Hard now just to make end meet
How soon we all forget
