I'm guilty of it. I believed the FCC commissioner comments were the main reason. ABCs affiliate's merger deal was the leverage.

It now appears ABC was merely reacting to what they felt would be a huge fallout from its viewers over Kimmel's comments.

Setting the FCC aside........ABC thought Kimmel would be a liability if they didn't do something. Turns out, it was worse to let him go.

Kimmel has been reminded he's not a newsman nor a journalist and his show isn't a non-profit station.

His business is a for-profit entertainment company.
