"The freeze on federal assistance is slated to take effect at 5 p.m. Tuesday and could impact trillions of dollars. It marks the latest move by the Trump administration to exert control over federal funding, even that which has already been allocated by Congress."

'

Sen. Patty Murray of Washington state and Rep. Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut " the top Democratic appropriators in Congress " wrote a letter to the White House on Monday night outlining their "extreme alarm" with the move.

"The scope of what you are ordering is breathtaking, unprecedented, and will have devastating consequences across the country," the lawmakers wrote.

"We write today to urge you in the strongest possible terms to uphold the law and the Constitution and ensure all federal resources are delivered in accordance with the law."

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer also quickly criticized the pause.

"Congress approved these investments and they are not optional; they are the law," the New York Democrat said in a statement Monday night. "These grants help people in red states and blue states, support families, help parents raise kids, and lead to stronger communities."

Schumer added that the action jeapordizes "billions upon billions of community grants and financial support that help millions of people across the country."

"It will mean missed payrolls and rent payments and everything in between: chaos for everything from universities to non-profit charities," he said."

FYI: Democrats always believed Project 2025 was real. It was the mainstream media and a segment of Trump voters who prefered to pretend it wasn't:

Nicole Hemmer
@pastpunditry.bsky.social
Guest on Megyn Kelly this week: "So, that's the thing is the funniest joke we ever pulled on the Democrats was convincing them that Project 2025 wasn't real ... it's over, we won, yes, we're going to do Project 2025. And the other thing is, it's good."

Meanwhile, you're too incurious to even look into what the study was for to begin with.

In any case, a vast swath of skilled labor and boundary pushing work will be disrupted or even lost and countless lives potentially ruined (depending on how long the pause is allowed to languish) because of a blatantly unconstitutional action that is cheered by miserable s*&^bags like you because the people being hurt are people you've been conditioned to hate for no good reason.

Included is the national suicide hotline.

Donald wants to kill a few Americans, which will happen.

But that doesn't matter to you. I mean, it really doesn't. A huge part of MAGA is carelessness for the lives of others. Or better put, an apathy towards the lives of others.

Like you'll live forever, and bad things only happen to other people.

You freaks have had this attitude at least since George W. invaded Iraq,

Trump's pause on federal disbursements is ILLEGAL if the funds have already been approved by Congress.

What's next? That's the Thing. If Congress and the SCOTUS don't assert their equal status and stop him Trump will make both irrelevant to policy and funding of any programs that HE personally doesn't like.

Trump is grabbing ALL THE LEVERS OF GOVERNMENT it's a Constitutional Crisis.

Good luck getting the media to say so.

Red State Cesspools Take Brunt Of Dotard's Spending Freeze

Of course, this is to be expected. For the most part, red states get back more federal dollars than they send in. So, if the feds put a hold on spending, red states are going to be the ones that get hit the hardest.

As these pauses begin to bite, MAGA will begin to appreciate just how dependent they are on federal largesse. Then their position will be "don't pause my benefits; pause the benefits of all those undeserving POC".

2) This is the Democrats fault.

"Federal judge temporarily blocks Trump administration freeze on federal grants and loans

A federal judge on Tuesday temporarily blocked a push from President Donald Trump to pause federal funding while his administration conducts an across-the-board ideological review to uproot progressive initiatives.

The Trump administration plan plunged the U.S. government into panic and confusion and set the stage for a constitutional clash over control of taxpayer money."

My wife talked with a friend of hers today and they were talking about all this nonsense. She's holding off on doing a bathroom remodel because of it and the uncertainty it's bringing.

I laughed and asked her if we'd be chuckling in a year or two over the fact that a bathroom remodel was a high concern right now.

This is Donald effing up again. He didn't even expect the backlash he's getting. How in hell does any sane man not expect a reaction to something like this?

For those of you MAGA who think this was intended to affect things like Medicaid, when the hell will you wake up? Portals down in all fifty states? Donald is passing this off as somne sort of tech glitch, but that's as real as his wounded ear.

Donald is not merely an incompetent president, he is a NASTY one. The ill-will he holds towards scores of millions of Americans is palpable and in-your-face.

"Trump's federal spending freeze is straight out of Project 2025

The OMB memo is the boldest, and clearest example of how the administration is employing Project 2025's strategies.

01/29/2025 10:11 AM EST

President Donald Trump says he's never read Project 2025. But his advisers sure have.

Monday's memo from Trump's Office of Management and Budget ordering a sweeping freeze of federal financial assistance is the boldest, and clearest example of the administration not only leaning on the people who wrote Project 2025 but employing its strategies.

The memo, which throws into jeopardy billions of federal assistance for programs like providing school meals and supporting homeless veterans, hews closely to the strategy Trump's pick for OMB director Russell Vought sketched out for bringing the federal bureaucracy to heel in Project 2025's second chapter."

I also trunk it's not gonna fix anything. Because that's not how you fix anything. You don't blow it up to see how it works. Then pick the pieces you like and try to put it back together.

CNN Rich McCormick (R-GA) on school lunch freeze

One of the interviews CNN doesn't repost on YouTube.

>> YEAH. NO, I UNDERSTAND AND AND LOOK, SOME PEOPLE SAYING THAT THAT. OKAY, WELL, LOOK, I MEAN THAT IS A VALID GOAL, RIGHT? TO TO SAVE MONEY AND BE MORE EFFICIENT. BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IS RIGHT NOW WITH THIS FREEZE, VULNERABLE POPULATIONS COULD BE DIRECTLY IMPACTED. AND SO MY QUESTION TO YOU, JUST TO FOLLOW UP WITH YOU, WOULD YOU SUPPORT GETTING RID OF, YOU KNOW, SCHOOL LUNCH FOR VULNERABLE KIDS AND BREAKFAST AND HEAD START, FOR EXAMPLE, AND GETTING RID OF, UM, CHILDHOOD CANCER RESEARCH. DO YOU SUPPORT THAT? AND WHAT DO YOU SAY TO YOUR CONSTITUENTS? I WANT TO FOLLOW UP ON THAT QUESTION, TOO, BECAUSE I DIDN'T HEAR AN ANSWER FROM YOU.

>> SURE. SO SO I'M AN E.R. DOC, AND I KNOW THAT PHILANTHROPY IS WHERE YOU GET MOST OF YOUR MONEY FOR CHILDHOOD CANCER RESEARCH, FOR EXAMPLE. AND IT'S NOT JUST CHILD. I MEAN, YOU LOOK AT WHAT THE PRESIDENT JUST PROPOSED, A HALF $1 TRILLION SPENDING BILL ON AI TO PRODUCE, UH, CANCER EARLY DETECTION IN THE FIRST STAGE ON MOST BODY PARTS. THAT'S HIS SPENDING BILL, WHERE HE WANTS TO INCREASE CANCER RESEARCH. SO IT'S JUST ABOUT WHAT PART OF THE MONEY IT COMES OUT OF WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT SCHOOL LUNCHES. HEY, I WORKED MY WAY THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL. I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT I WORKED SINCE I WAS BEFORE I WAS EVEN 13 YEARS OLD. I WAS PICKING BERRIES IN THE FIELD BEFORE WE HAD CHILD LABOR LAWS THAT PRECLUDED THAT. I WAS A PAPER BOY, AND WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL, I WORKED MY ENTIRE WAY THROUGH. YOU'RE TELLING ME THAT KIDS WHO STAY AT HOME, INSTEAD OF GOING TO WORK AT BURGER KING AND MCDONALD'S DURING THE SUMMER, SHOULD STAY AT HOME AND GET THEIR FREE LUNCH INSTEAD OF GOING TO WORK. I THINK WE NEED TO HAVE A TOP DOWN REVIEW. THINK ABOUT WHERE KIDS NEED TO ACTUALLY BE.

>> I WOULD SAY THAT'S NOT NECESSARILY A FAIR ASSESSMENT OF ALL OF THE KIDS. SO YOU WOULD SAY ALL THE KIDS IN YOUR DISTRICT WHO USE THE FREE LUNCH, FOR EXAMPLE, OR BREAKFAST, THEY'RE ALL JUST SITTING AT HOME AND NOT WORKING. OKAY, I JUST WANT TO CLARIFY BECAUSE THAT THIS. GIVES US A CHANCE TO THIS.

>> GIVES US A CHANCE. NO, THIS GIVES US A CHANCE, THOUGH, TO SEE WHERE IS THE MONEY REALLY BEING SPENT, WHO CAN ACTUALLY GO AND ACTUALLY PRODUCE THEIR OWN INCOME, WHO CAN ACTUALLY GO OUT THERE AND DO SOMETHING THAT MAKES THEM HAVE VALUE AND WORK WORK SKILLS FOR THE FUTURE? I MEAN, HOW MANY PEOPLE GOT THEIR START IN FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS WHEN THEY WERE KIDS VERSUS JUST GIVING A BLANKET RULE THAT GIVES ALL KIDS LUNCHES IN HIGH SCHOOL WHO ARE CAPABLE OF GOING OUT AND ACTUALLY GETTING A JOB AND DOING SOMETHING THAT MAKES THEM HAVE VALUE, THINKING ABOUT THEIR FUTURE INSTEAD OF THINKING ABOUT HOW THEY'RE GOING TO SPONGE OFF THE GOVERNMENT WHEN THEY DON'T NEED TO. WE DON'T GIVE PEOPLE VALUE. WE DON'T GIVE THEM THE ABILITY TO DIG THEMSELVES OUT WHEN WE PENALIZE THEM FOR ACTUALLY WORKING AND ACTUALLY KEEP THEM ON WELFARE. THAT'S WHAT'S BEEN THE INNER CITY PROBLEM FOR A VERY LONG TIME. WE NEED TO HAVE A TOP DOWN REVIEW SO WE CAN GET PEOPLE OUT OF POVERTY. BECAUSE YOU KNOW WHAT? AMERICA IS VERY GOOD AT CREATING JOBS AND GIVING PEOPLE WORK. AND WE'VE BEEN VERY TRADITIONALLY GOOD AT THAT, BUT WE'RE LOSING OUR WAY. AND THAT'S WHEN WE GIVE PEOPLE INCENTIVES TO STAY AT HOME AND NOT WORK. THAT DOESN'T WORK FOR AMERICA.

>>BUT A LOT OF THESE KIDS AREN'T EVEN OF WORKING AGE. THEY'RE YOUNG KIDS, AS YOU WELL KNOW, AND THE KIDS IN HEADSTART ARE FIVE AND UNDER.

>> I KNOW.
