Wednesday, April 17, 2024

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kari Lake, an ardent supporter of former president Donald Trump, urged supporters in Arizona to "strap on a Glock" pistol as they prepare for what she called an intense six months leading up to the Nov. 5 elections.

Who are you going to kill, Kari?

#2 | Posted by Zed at 2024-04-17 07:33 AM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

Hey KKKari, who would Jesus shoot? That "Armor of God" gibberish sounds like Xtian Nationalism or Qanon. And what moron straps on two guns? One is more than enough, and if you're a crap shot, maybe carry a spare mag, or better yet, leave it at home so you don't murder some innocent bystander or so you don't get involved in some stupid road rage shooting. No common civilian gets in a protracted shootout in America; this is not Kanduhar; the only people changing mags during a shooting are mass shooters, and not even most of them. We cops carry extra mags, and in my five-plus years investigating officer-involved shootings, not one did a mag change.

KKKari Lake Tells Supporters to ------- a Glock'

"------- Kari?" Intriguing.

What would Jesus wear? A Kari Lake cap, the armor of God and a Glock. Not.

Armor of god, Jesus Chroist!!!!

#6 | Posted by qcp at 2024-04-17 09:28 AM | Reply

In the NT, the armor of God is... the Belt of Truth, the Breastplate of Righteousness, the Gospel of Peace, the Shield of Faith, the Helmet of Salvation, and the Sword of the Spirit.

Peace by Glock isn't mentioned even once.

Nor is trying to control the government by violence.

The Retort is bleeping Kari's instruction to strap one on! This is ludicrous! How else are we supposed to know what to do?

And does this put the kibosh on my new nickname for her: "Strahap-Ohn Kari?"

@#10 ... The Retort is bleeping Kari's instruction to strap one on! ...

My guess...

The Retort has a pool of advertisers that give money to The retort in order to allow you and I and others to post here.

That pool of advertisers probably have given The Retort a list of words that they do not want to see on the same page as their advertisements.

It's a standard practice in the industry. And one that Mr Musk is starting to appreciate regarding the nonsense (I'll be kind) he allows on X and his diminishing pool of advertisers.

Given the comments that I have seen allowed on this most august site, at this point I'm not complaining. I deal with it.

For example...

Seven dirty words
en.wikipedia.org

... The seven dirty words are seven English-language curse words that American comedian George Carlin first listed in his 1972 "Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television" monologue.[1] The words, in the order Carlin listed them, are: "----", "piss", "----", "----", "----------", "------------", and "----".[1][2] ...

So, let's see how I do...

The words, in the order Carlin listed them, are: "----", "p?ss", "f!!k", "c#nt", "c%cksucker", "-----------", and "----".

And, for the record, listening to Jefferson Airplane's tune, "Volunteers" I do note that recently, less and less of the word "-----------" seems to be bleeped on the radio of late. The whole word used to be bleeped out. Now it seems that just a syllable is bleeped out.

Maybe it is just the station I listen to. ( www.1071thepeak.com )

That station also does not use the censored lyrics for the James song, "Laid." Instead of the lyrics, "she only screams when she's on top" the station plays the original version, "she only c@ms when she's on top."

So, there's that.

Will Kari Lake be charged when someone in Arizona commits an act of political inspired violence after her statement?

Ya know... that is an excellent question.

Is Ms Lake as careless as fmr Pres trump seems to be?

Wish I knew.

@#15 ... It does take a while sometimes. ...

Yeah, I've noticed.

Whilst we wait, here's a fun tune...

Sigue Sigue Sputnik - Love Missile F1-11 (1986)
www.youtube.com

OK, maybe "fun" is not the right word.

Odd?

Yeah, that may be better....

I do like how the audio engineer plays with the relative phasing of the channels to create sounds that seem to originate outside the physical location of the speakers.

The best cover of this Tom Waits song I've heard so far...

Diana Krall - Temptation (2004)
www.youtube.com

As of 2003, she and Elvis Costello have been married.

OK, that aside, I still think her rendition of the Temptation tune is the best I've heard.

YMMV.

Republicans keep trying to outdo one another in ratcheting up the violent rhetoric. Even Tom Cotton is getting in on it. They're going to get someone killed.

They're going to get someone killed.

#23 | POSTED BY JOE

They already have.

They are gonna get even MORE people killed.

Especially if they don't tell them to wear tactical gear and bullet proof vests too!

Not saying she won't carry through with her current positions, but she doesn't truly believe any of the garbage she utters right now. Just saying and doing what she needs to in order to turn out the MAGAt vote and win office.

"A drag queen called Arizona's Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake a "phony" in a political advertisement, highlighting the hypocrisy Lake has shown over the years regarding her old political stances. [...] "She pretends to be an 'America First' Republican, but Barack Obama's speeches 'enthralled' her and his liberal Supreme Court pick was a 'very good justice,'" the drag queen said. "She even defended Hillary Clinton's emails. Ugh, politics." www.newsweek.com

Just another fake plastic person. She would make a great evangelical. If she is not already one. She certainly fits the mold.

Not mentioned in the story: no admittance to those attempting to enter a Lake rally while strapped with a Glock or any other firearm. For 'safety' reasons...
