... When he was then asked when he would announce what deals have been cut, Trump said "I've made 200 deals," and that he would publicly state when those were made.

"I would say, over the next three to four weeks, and we're finished, by the way," he said. ...

@#1

So, have the deals been completed, or does he expect the deals to be made over the next three to four weeks?

It sounds to me as if Pres Trump has got nothing at this point regarding trade deals.

If he had something I'd suspect there would have been a high-profile press conference announcing that deal.

And, if I may ask, don't trade deals need to be approved by Congress before they are completed?

@#2 ... don't trade deals need to be approved by Congress before they are completed ...

I found this ...

Congressional and Executive Authority Over Foreign Trade Agreements
www.congress.gov

... Summary

This report examines the constitutional powers of Congress and the President to make foreign trade agreements, the respective roles the legislative and executive branches have played in recent trade agreements, and legal debates concerning the extent to which the executive branch may enter into trade agreements without congressional approval.

The Constitution grants Congress the authority to regulate foreign commerce, impose tariffs, and collect revenue, while the President holds constitutional authority to negotiate with foreign governments. Courts have only infrequently opined on the ways in which the United States may enter into foreign trade agreements based on this separation of powers.

Nevertheless, it is broadly accepted that the United States may enter into trade agreements with other countries via "congressional-executive agreements," which are negotiated by the President and approved"either in advance or afterward"by Congress.

By contrast, many have questioned whether the President may enter into trade agreements with other countries via "sole executive agreements," which are not approved by Congress and rest on the President's independent constitutional powers.

Presidents have, however, made various nonbinding trade commitments to other countries without congressional authorization based on their asserted authority to conduct foreign policy. ...

So that may be why Pres Trump invokes that "foreign policy" justification?

Remember when he had that healthcare press conference with a desk piled with blank paper pretending it was all policy?
Good times.

Donald Trump has this entire and elaborate delusional belief system where he is the center of the known universe.

This is just another example of that. It is most evident when he is under stress.

Stories of him throwing objects at walls and people will emerge shortly.

More trade "deals" than there are nations? Is he already renegotiating his own deals?
I kid! We know he is with USMCA! Even his own deal he says sucked. Not that he knows he did that deal.

3 to 4 weeks, eh?

Sounds a lot like B. Hussein Obama's birth certificate promise.

Or infrastructure week.

Or repeal and replace.

Mere concepts of trade deals. That is all.

Trump Claims 200 Trade Deals Completed, Won't Say with who

I think he's way undercounting. He engaged in at least that many trade deals with Melania to get her into bed with him.

What was the main purpose of the Reciprocal trade agreement Act of 1934?
The act not only gave President Franklin D. Roosevelt the authority to adjust tariff rates, but also the power to negotiate bilateral trade agreements without receiving prior congressional approval

Trump is losing his mind in real time.

And Republicans are right there with him, thinking America is winning by surrendering to China.

"the power to negotiate bilateral trade agreements without receiving prior congressional approval"

Republicans truly believe other countries will ink long term trade deals that can be reneged at any time by an insane President.

They think they hold enough cards to make that happen.

So Trump is getting reciprocal trade deals done and the left is having a melt down just like they are having a melt down over gang murderers shipped out of the country. It's a good look. No ideas except for no fair trade and illegal gang members being welcomed into this country so they can rape and murder. And they wonder why their approval ratings are at 21%.

He is? Where? With whom?

Didn't we already have reciprocal trade deals in place, until Trump unilaterally broke them?

Yes, already had reciprocal trade deals in place, until Trump unilaterally broke them.
