Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, September 04, 2025

Renowned infectious diseases expert Michael Osterholm on Wednesday warned of the potential fallout from Florida's move to end all vaccine mandates in the state, most notably including shots for schoolchildren.

Osterholm commented: "We basically are losing all the safety nets that we had with the public health system and vaccines are at the heart of it and of course this administration is doing everything it can to eliminate or if not totally eliminate vaccines for people. We are really at the point where we can either go with science and what we've accomplished over 100 years in improving public health or we can go with magic, smoke and mirrors and that's what this is really all about."

Florida may as well have a law where it is forbidden for people to wipe their rear ends after having a bowel movement.

Vaccines are a victim of their own success.

Idiots today are so used to a world without rampant childhood illness that they think ground flowers and tea are a better option.

Until they have to watch a grandchild die of whooping cough or measles encephalitis. Then I'm sure they'll be all "why isn't this stopped!?!?!"

millions of undocumented people from 3rd world countries simply walking into this country?

Tell us brother! Let the fear consume you!

Tell us you hate humanity without saying you hate humanity.

So when will Congress address this issue?

And how do to know they walked? Many flew in legally and just never left.

About two-thirds of unauthorized adult immigrants had been living in the U.S. for at least a decade which suggests a large number of overstays have become long-term residents.

And in modern civilized states like California ALL students need to be vaccinated to attend public schools.

Carry on with your maga loon whine of the day snowflake.

Look up the most commonly imported diseases.

Here's a hint - they're not vaccine preventable ones. They're chronic diseases like Tb, Malaria ect.

Really? And what if, in 10 years time, there is zero fallout from this? What if removing the mandates causes no disruption or increases in anything?

I'm not saying they won't. I think it's really freaking stupid to legislate a blanket statement about all vaccines. But the point still stands, what if it doesn't cause problems? It's a lot easier to just keep your mouth closed and let reality prove you right than it is to make partisan statements that do nothing but create more hatred. If it is going to have a big negative impact, the data will speak for itself. We don't need conjecture to spread hate. In fact, we should really strive as Americans to get rid of that from our society.

And exactly what did you have to say about millions of undocumented people from 3rd world countries simply walking into this country?

Trafficking in the bigoted trope of "those diseased brown people" and counting on people, like Bellringer, to be as ignorant as you? Sadly it's a viable tactic in the American culture. Your bigotry rests in "those people" not being vaccinated. That the places they come from don't vaccinate.

Do you know Mexico's vaccination rate for polio is 98.39% - higher than the United States?
The rate for MMR vaccinations has dropped from 86% to near 80% recently, but it's dropped in the US, too. Where I live we're in the mid 80's now. Utterly disgusting, horrible, and not that much different than Mexico.
Guatemala? the same as Mexico.
El Salvador? 96%.

Perhaps you'd like to better identify these "disease carriers" and where they are coming from?
They have you scared shhtliess. Maybe by knowing we can better understand your terror?

#19. People from 3rd world countries were trafficked into this country by the millions. Unless you are going to try and make the case that healthcare in places like Venezuela is comparable to healthcare in the US.

I don't recall you ever being critical of Biden's open border policies.

Probably because there was no such thing as an "open door policy".

America has never had an "open door policy". By Biden or any American President.

Just another Trumpy lie you eagerly slurped up.

The United States has never had a completely "open door" border policy, although for its first century, immigration was largely unrestricted. The idea of open borders is considered a myth by many historians and immigration experts.

But I am curious and since YOU brought it up please explain how you think Biden had an "open door policy".

Did you know there was a time when there were no vaccine mandates? Millions of people died every year.

Medical experts know what will happen. But people like RFK Jr, a lawyer and politician, say we need to stop listening to them. Stopping the spread of COVID, polio, measles, smallpox etc. just isn't working. We need to start listening to the people who claim that vaccines are bioweapons with 5G tracking microchips.

#22 - So now you want me to run all the numbers for Venezuela? Venezuela

I gave you the top locations for immigration coming to the US. Venezuela didn't make that cut. It's not even listed.

All you're doing is hyperventilating trying to keep your bigoted view alive. That bigotry drips through your "try and make the case that healthcare in places like ___ is comparable to the US" - but I suspect you can't even see it.

BTW - it's a flashing red sign I addressed in my post: Your bigotry rests in "those people" not being vaccinated. That the places they come from don't vaccinate.

Whether they do better or not than the US in vaccinating their populations shows in the numbers. I have no need to get into a debate about the mechanics and who has the bigger dick. Especially with that lunatic Kennedy and Ladapo. It is getting far worse for the US under Trump. Watching Kennedy has been absolutely horrifying. Watching what's going on in Florida is terrifying.

EPCOT (Experimental Pokes Community of Torment) - Trump lurks in the "Warp-Speed Monorail," bragging he made the jab faster than Space Mountain, but also shrugs when anyone asks about side effects. Kennedy pops up in the gift shop whispering: "Don't trust the mouse. Or the needle."

Hollywood Studios (Health Spectacle) - Trump stars in the blockbuster "The China Virus" (directed by himself, naturally). Kennedy does indie films like "My Body, My Choice (But Only For Me)" " both battle for airtime in a cinematic universe nobody asked for.

Animal Kingdom (Ailment Keepers) - Kennedy gives TED-Talks-on-safari about mercury in vaccines while Trump waves from a jeep shouting: "We're gonna make malaria great again!"

Magic Kingdom (Corporate Fairy Tales) - Trump and Kennedy try to storm Cinderella's Castle together but bicker too much over who's the "true savior of freedom." Spoiler: Pfizer Princess kicks them both out.

#8 | Posted by jpw

Commonly imported diseases, often contracted by travelers, include gastrointestinal infections, malaria, dengue fever, influenza, and hepatitis A, as well as diseases like tuberculosis and HIV, which spread through migration.

Although measles was declared eliminated from the United States in 2000, measles cases and outbreaks continue to occur, resulting from importations of the disease from countries where it remains endemic.

Imported Infectious Diseases: The Impact in Developed Countries
pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov

"Imported polio" refers to polio cases caused by a poliovirus strain that traveled into a country or region from another location. These cases serve as reminders that polio transmission can occur across borders, even in areas where wild poliovirus is no longer endemic
