Olympian David Hearn, who faces a felony charge, has denied doing any damage to the pool. Hearn has publicly stated that he had heard about the problems with the iconic DC reflecting pool and went by to check it out while on a 50-mile bike ride. He said he saw stuff floating in the pool and touched it but did not rip or damage anything.

"In a press conference announcing the charges Thursday, US Attorney Jeanine Pirro said [David] Hearn 'forcefully and violently' pulled up the lining, damaging '2-square-feet of sealant.'" The surface area of the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool is approximately 338,000 square feet.

Donald needs someone to blame for his screw-up. This guy is apparently it.

I can easily imagine myself and any number of people touching the peeling paint out of ordinary curiosity.

Trump wants to send this man to ten years prison for engaging in ordinary behavior.

High powered vacuums in the tips of his fingers and a retracting knife like appendage comprised of dark matter were used in the crime.

More taxpayer dollars wasted.

How are these frivolous lawsuits not considered fraud waste and abuse?

When asked what made this a felony, Pirro said that Heran used TWO HANDS.

It should be laughable that Pirro/Trump insisted on seeking an indictment, but there's nothing funny about a dictatorship desperate to shift the blame for its incompetence. Hearn should sue for wrongful arrest.

Even if he did pull up 2 square feet of the already loose paint on this enormous pool, which I highly doubt, it's an obscene abuse of power to charge him with a crime.

Far better, for this bloated pre-corpse, to bankrupt and ruin an innocent than admit incompetence.
Just another day in Amerikkka.

It's really not a hard sell to imagine these anti fa freaks spoiling everything they can reach, since we've seen it happening for several years now.

leftist utopia- thieves and junkies everywhere, broken and burned buildings.
What's the point in all the destruction?

It's really not a hard sell to imagine ...

You deplorable Trumping MAGAts really do love your alternative reality.

Hey. In this imaginary universe, are you more intelligent than you are in reality?

Because, you really are the poorly educated Trump loves so much.

@#11 ... You addressing Trump? ...

Looks that way.

Pres Trump messed up the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

Pres Trump messed up the free and unfettered passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

The list could go on and on ...

But. We can start with ten.

Agreed.

DoJ changes olympian with felony for touching something floating in water.
This is the same DoJ that is protecting Trump and his sex trafficking cronies from prosecution.

Antifa...when in doubt, blame the imaginary shop-worn phantoms living rent-free in your so-easily-hornswoggled head. Believe me, I've been looking for their recruitment kiosk everywhere, but it remains infuriatingly elusive. Almost as if they didn't actually exist.

My advice? Find another bogeyman.

Do you know if it is going to be a Jury trial?

#30 | Posted by LampLighter at 2026-07-03 08:35 PM | Reply

There's no jury that will convict him.

#31 | Posted by Sezu at 2026-07-04 07:12 AM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

It's my understanding Hearn being up on a federal felony indictment - and facing up to 10 years imprisonment! - entitles him to a jury trial. If so, he should definitely go for it. Abbie Hoffman, eat your heart out.

#32 | Posted by Doc_Sarvis at 2026-07-04 07:35 AM | Reply

Poor guy.

He should have done something more "Patriotic" like break into the Capitol with agitated mobs of crazed vandals and used a weaponized Confederate flag on a spear-tipped pole to harass and harm Capitol officials and police while his fellow vandals defecated in hallways and private offices throughout the Capitol building. And if caught on Capitol cameras and indicted for any supposed "felony", he could just claim to be hostage ask the Orange Kleptocrat for a blanket "Pardon" and for a part of the Orange Kleptocrat's $1,776,000,000 slush fund.

Oh, well. Guess this poor schmo just isn't a true "Partiot". Well God bless Mer'ka, where hateful mobs "patriotically" draped in bars and stripes and the Mer'kan flag will protect "liberty" by attacking anyone trying to conduct any guv'ment stuff their Orange Kleptocrat don't like.

Maybe if he buys a Trump Bible and gold Trump watch he'll be eligible for a blanket pardon and piece of Trump's almost $2 billion trust fund for pardoned felons?

#33 | POSTED BY AUGUSTINE

Nope. As a person declared to be communist pool destroyer by Republicans he will never be eligible for that fund.

He will have to wait for the Democrats Slush fund. Which if the republicans get one then, of course, the democrats will get one too once they regain the Oval Office (probably a billion just clean up all the Trumpy graffiti).

It will, of course, have to be a much larger "weaponization fund" as Trumpy has done so much damage to so many Americans that it will take hundreds of billions of dollars to compensate for.
