Olympian Indicted for Alleged Vandalism of Reflecting Pool

Olympian David Hearn, who faces a felony charge, has denied doing any damage to the pool. Hearn has publicly stated that he had heard about the problems with the iconic DC reflecting pool and went by to check it out while on a 50-mile bike ride. He said he saw stuff floating in the pool and touched it but did not rip or damage anything.

"In a press conference announcing the charges Thursday, US Attorney Jeanine Pirro said [David] Hearn 'forcefully and violently' pulled up the lining, damaging '2-square-feet of sealant.'" The surface area of the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool is approximately 338,000 square feet.

It should be laughable that Pirro/Trump insisted on seeking an indictment, but there's nothing funny about a dictatorship desperate to shift the blame for its incompetence. Hearn should sue for wrongful arrest.

It's my understanding Hearn being up on a federal felony indictment - and facing up to 10 years imprisonment! - entitles him to a jury trial. If so, he should definitely go for it. Abbie Hoffman, eat your heart out.
