Former CIA Official Pleads Guilty to Acting as a Foreign Agent and Mishandling Classified Materials

Former CIA senior intelligence officer Dale Britt Bendler (68) of Miami, FL, pleaded guilty acting as a foreign agent required to register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). In addition to pleading guilty, Bendler consented to the forfeiture of $85,000. Bendler faces a maximum penalty of seven years in prison, two years for acting as a foreign agent while being a public official and five years for mishandling classified material. Bendler is scheduled to be sentenced on 16 Jul. The release did not note which country Bendler betrayed the US to.
