Former President Donald Trump used a rally in South Carolina on Saturday to attack rival Nikki Haley in her home state -- and to mock the absence of her husband, who is deployed overseas. "Where's her husband? Oh, he's away. ... What happened to her husband? Where is he? He's gone," Trump said at his rally in Conway, his first visit to the state this year. Michael Haley is deployed in Africa with the South Carolina Army National Guard in support of the United States Africa Command, his second active-duty deployment overseas.
Anyone who didn't see this coming isn't paying attention:
I wish we could do polls on this site. I wanted to do one on: When Will Haley Drop Out of the Race and Kiss Trump's Ring?
Answers:
This weekend.
Before the SC primary.
When he attacks her husband.
After the SC primary.
When he promises her the VP slot.
Before Super Tuesday.
After Super Tuesday.
When he promises her the Secretary of State position.
Never, she is waiting for a Black Swan event.

Trump Claims He Never Called Servicemen Losers,' But Has History of Disparaging Military (September 2020)
inlandvalleynews.com
... In the Trump administration, there is always another scandal just around the corner. The latest involves President Donald Trump making disparaging comments about service members. According to a bombshell report in The Atlantic, Trump referred to military members as "losers" and "suckers." The article also claims that Trump refused to visit graves for soldiers killed in Europe because it was raining and did not want to mess up his hair.
"In a conversation with senior staff members on the morning of the scheduled visit, Trump said, Why should I go to that cemetery? It's filled with losers.' In a separate conversation on the same trip, Trump referred to the more than 1,800 marines who lost their lives at Belleau Wood as suckers' for getting killed," said Atlantic writer Jeffrey Goldberg.
Trump also could not understand why Gen. John Kelly's son died for his country in Afghanistan. Trump said, "I don't get it." Kelly served in the Trump administration.
As shocking as these comments are, they are believable. There are plenty of incidents where Trump was captured on tape saying the same thing. During the 2016 presidential campaign, he was recorded demeaning the late Sen. John McCain who was shot down, held prisoner, and tortured during the Vietnam war. Trump said McCain was not a war hero and he "liked people who weren't captured."
Trump also threatened to disown his children Don. Jr. and Tiffany if they "wasted their lives" by joining the military. (This is included in ex-wife Marla Maples' prenuptial agreement.)
Naturally, Trump denies making these comments, even though many of them are on tape. Former White House press secretary Sarah Sanders, who has a reputation for telling bald-faced lies, is already making the rounds on various talk shows defending the president. ...

Trump hints at expanded role for the military within the US. A legacy law gives him few guardrails

... Campaigning in Iowa this year, Donald Trump said he was prevented during his presidency from using the military to quell violence in primarily Democratic cities and states.
Calling New York City and Chicago "crime dens," the front-runner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination told his audience,
"The next time, I'm not waiting. One of the things I did was let them run it and we're going to show how bad a job they do," he said. "Well, we did that. We don't have to wait any longer."
Trump has not spelled out precisely how he might use the military during a second term, although he and his advisers have suggested they would have wide latitude to call up units. While deploying the military regularly within the country's borders would be a departure from tradition, the former president already has signaled an aggressive agenda if he wins, from mass deportations to travel bans imposed on certain Muslim-majority countries. ...
