Broken clock is sometimes correct...

Let's see if the Dems manage to make this into the issue that costs them the midterms and the presidential election after.

Democrats are champions of civil rights and equality. It's what's carried the party since the 60s.

If trans rights are what cost democrats the election, then the party is dead and perhaps this is what America deserves.

"The war on women's sports is over,"

Conservatives fought against Black people being integrated into professional sports as well.

There were many battles, but in the end, Black Americans won their equality.

Trans people may have lost this battle. But the war is far from over.

Trans people will outlive their haters and current generations will accept them.

Ignoring the right or wrong of the situation, it's a losing issue in elections. The sooner Dems let this issue fall by the wayside, the better.

As you pointed out numerous times before the election last year, the foundations of our democracy were at stake. And Trump has shown you to be correct in less than three weeks of his rule. We have much more important things to worry about.

Censor,

I voted Democrat for decades until Trump.

When Trump ran the first time I knew that president might be able to nominate 3 justices and I absolutely did not want a liberal to have that opportunity.

It was becoming more and more obvious liberals were losing their sense of what is normal.

For me it was the transgender issue and the possibility of gays relegating women to a second class status that convinced me to stop supporting democrats.

Also, the blatant anti-Christian efforts of the far left is another thing that will further destroy the Democratic Party in my opinion.

Laura,

You're partially right but missing a point.

My issue with gay marriage was the possibility of radical gays attacking churches claiming discrimination.

It was becoming obvious gays were singling out Christians out of spite because conservative Christians don't endirse gay marriage.

I wanted gays to have legal protection for relationships because they had no structure or foundation. Just didn't like the word marriage for different reasons.

I didn't vote for Trumo out of retaliation for the Suoteme Court passing gay marriage. When the court passed gay marriage that showed me the court was liberal enough to pass other extreme measures and I realised the court needed a conservative president to nominate the coming up 3 open seats.

At that same time transgenders had started pushing for full legal access to facilities where women and minor girls use and I was concerned the Supreme Court could pass that.

Now that the court passed gay marriage i saw gays were moving forward and anything was possible that liberals wanted.

So I voted for Trump to block liberals from having more opportunities to pass more anti-women anti-Christian idealogy.

You're right gay marriage had something to do with my voting for Trump but not for the reasons you assume.

- anti-Christian idealogy.

Would be passing judgement on and or condemning other people... and groups of people, who may have different kinds of imperfections of behavior than you do. Because all people are imperfect in some ways.

But that's only according to Jesus and Paul, so you may know more about Christianity than them.

And btw, Christianity isn't an ideology, it's a religion.

Corky,

"Because all people are imperfect in some ways."

That is exactly what Christianity teaches...no one is perfect.

What many people don't like to hear is that these imperfections, according to Christian belief, separate us from God for eternity when we die. But no one is forcing you to believe that. The Constitution guarantees the right to openly profess religious beliefs in the public forum, while also preventing the establishment of a state religion.

Regarding issues like abortion, consider that many people (religious or not) believe life begins in the womb. Those who hold that belief will oppose abortion as a form of casual birth control. This isn't just a religious debate. It's a moral and ethical one.

As a voter, I have every right to choose leaders who align with my values, including professing Christians as long as there's no mandatory religious litmus test for office.

Framing this, or anything really, in a religious light is stupid. Religion was and is still to a degree a way to control the masses. The ones in power don't want people to do something?... GOD said it was not allowed. Now lets make a few competing religions and point them at each other and say GOD said the other ones were bad.

Sit back, and control everyone.

If there is a God then He sees how you treat the Other. The poor. The disadvantaged. The elderly. The sick. Those in need. Or just those you just disagree with.

Yep, he sure does. Just because I don't tell everyone what I do doesn't mean it doesn't happen. You know? That left hand not telling the right hand what is happening?

If there is a hell that's where you are going my friend.

Boaz,

Gays have a persecution complex because many straight Christians do single them out as if their own sexual sins don't matter and gays are doomed to hell.

Back in the 70s I had just been booted from the Navy and close to living in the street. I was eating at a fastfood restaurant one day talking about not sure what to do. My parents were not an option. While eating there, a total stranger came up to me introduced himself as the Pastor of a local MCC church that was in the process of being established in an extremely large city.

He offered me an extra bedroom living with him and his friend (lover as was called then). I made another friend while living there who helped me start college using my GI Bill. Eventually I finished my BS in Accounting and Minor Computer Science.

I'm getting to a point. The Pastor would talk to me since I lived with him and we discussed his take on homosexuality and sin in the Bible. Simply put he told me homosexuality is not a sin. I did not then and have never agreed with him. I'm glad I got the opportunity to learn his take on it.

Reconciling homosexuality and Christianity torments some young people who are raised as Christian and then realize they are gay.

Some straight Christians who most likely were homophobic before being saved use Biblical scripture to justify their hatred. It's very complex topic.

MCC resolved the issue I guess by teaching homosexuality is not sin.

I can't accept that but instead I simply decided straights and gays are all sinners and thus the whole purpose and reason for salvation and God's grace.

We're all sinners and saved by Grace through redemption and accepting you are a sinner and only through Jesus Christ can your sins be forgiven.

What bible are you reading? Oh yea, it's the gay pastor approved version. No wonder you don't know what the ---- you are talking about when it comes to the bible.

They're arguing about how old Baby Bear in the Goldilocks story actually was. You know, like in real life.

"I can't say (whether or not all folks born before Christ are burning in hell for all eternity). The nature of God has been debated for years."

If that's "the nature" of God, he's a heartless, soulless monster, and doesn't deserve worship. Either an all-knowing, all-loving God created souls knowing their hopeless fate, or your theory is bullschitttt.

My belief is the latter, that one's actions towards their fellow man is the ultimate determination. I can't buy into a God who creates souls for the singular purpose of burning in hell for all eternity because they were purposely and knowingly denied the opportunity. That's the epitome of cruelty.

To me, when Jesus says "you must come through me", he means HIS IDEAL, that of putting GOD first, everyone else tied for second, and NO ONE third.

"Read your bible dumb ass. He didn't intend on us eating fruit from the tree of life, HE TOLD US NOT TO. dumbass."

Use your brain dumbass.

So this God, who created everything and knows everything past present and future, set his children, his creations down in the garden pointed at one particular tree and told them not to eat only that tree. And then "expected" them to never eat from that tree? What kind of dumbass is He? Knowing full well that they would eat from that tree He must have INTENDED that they do so because as God and Father of Space and Time and Everything He could see the future as easily as the past and could literally see them eat from that tree and exactly when they would eat from that tree.

But in your Religulous mind He "pretended" not to know this one little thing was going to happen in His universe. This one critical thing had to happen because He had to make Man (and especially women) guilty of a sin for what was clearly a setup and part of His Plan because everything is part of His Plan!

Your God is apparently a spoiled child. He is more like Q in Star Trek. A wayward God child playing with His toys. And not always being very nice to his toys. Someday hopefully His Parents will step in and take Him home and let the humans live in peace.

The original translation of this great myth was: "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me"

I understood this to mean that you had to follow the same Path as Jesus. So you would pass by Jesus on the way to the Father. (The Father being the Divine spirit that we all apparently come from. And that we will all apparently return to.)

But the lesson to me was that there are many paths in Life to get to the final Path to the Divine. But eventually you will be passing Jesus on the way. And many many others traveling the same path, too.

Changing the translation changes the whole meaning. This is one of the major problems with the Bible and why it is unreliable. Translation/Transcription errors.

" Semper Fi

ROTFLMAO.."

Nailed it, boaz. He claims to be a former Marine. The only "former" Marines are the ones with OTH discharges. His was when they found out he was scared to death of semi-auto weapons. According to him, all he or anyone needs is a bolt action .22.

Semper Fi
