Trump mobilized the DC National Guard under the guise of restoring security in the nation's capital, despite DC's crime rate being at a 30-year low.

Orange Idi Amin will do this while cutting SNAP and health care for poor people.

It's a matter of choices.

On the positive side, the streets in NW DC are cleaner than ever, with all those guardsmen swinging brooms, stooping for cigarette butts and shooting at rats with their M-16s...

Yeah, those are the optics that Pres Trump is hoping for.

But is that the reality?

Or are what Democrats trying to protect, not violent criminals but, the Constitution and the Rule of Law?

How many extra arrests has that $1M per day bought us? How many crimes have been stopped? I'm guessing 0 since the Guard isn't actually doing anything except some trash pickup and gardening.

@#5 ... How many crimes have been stopped? ...

That's my main concern.

Attacking the symptom instead of the root cause, apparently for the only purpose of the optics.

If Pres Trump had really and actually wanted to reduce crime in Washington, D.C., then he would have worked with the city leaders to help reduce the cause of the crime.

Instead, he seemed to have chosen the optics of masked military-garbed men.

How many consecutive days did DC go without a homicide once the guard was deployed?

Also, you may recall, in 2021 the guard was deployed in DC from Jan 2021 through May 2021.

They are trumping up the charges against everyone too using federal law.

Spit on a cop? Face a misdemeanor generally and a week or two in jail AT MOST.

But because they are federal officers working at Trump's direction, spitting on a National Guard or Homeland Agent is now being charged by the DOJ as a violent felony with up to 8 years in jail.

And they are charging EVERYTHING to the max to pretend it's violent crime.

This is of course AFTER Trump pardoned all the J6 protestors who literally tried to kill cops, actually led to several officers dying, and were trying to kill the VP and members of Congress.
