Let's talk about this Saturday's "No Kings" protests all across the country, and whether they just might end up giving Trump the perfect excuse to invoke the Insurrection Act.

Sanders: Saturday, millions of people are going to come out on a No Kings day. Speaker Johnson said this is a hate America rally because people are coming out expressing their concerns.. It's not a hate America rally, it's a love America rally.

"I'm not a king," Trump says ahead of nationwide No Kings protests

President Trump told Fox Business he's "not a king" ahead of nationwide No Kings protests planned for Saturday while insisting the ongoing government shutdown gives him power to unilaterally cut federal programs.

Trump added that Democrats could stay out of the government "forever," so that the president could continue cutting "Democrat" priorities, such as welfare programs.

"They made one mistake, they didn't realize that. That gives me the right to cut programs that Republicans never wanted. We're doing that, and we're cutting them permanently."

"I don't like a dictator. I'm not a dictator. I'm a man with great common sense and a smart person," he said.

The official White House X account was heavily criticized in February for posting a fake photo of the president on a parody cover of Time magazine wearing a crown with the phrase "LONG LIVE THE KING!"

I just got home from my local "No Kings" protest. Probably about 1000 people at the local mall standing near a busy 4 lane street. Lots of honking horns and protesters shouting. Well behaved crowd about 1/2 which were boomers. Glad to see a nice turnout in my little "Red" part of the world.

My wife and I just got back from the 'No Kings' rally, in our case we were down in Laguna Hills (there was no rally in Irvine as they have a rally every Sunday in front of city hall).

There were probably 2,000 to 3,000 people there. It covered the sidewalks, on both sides of the street, for about three city blocks, plus down some of the side streets and in other places where people could gather.

There were a lot of people in costume, inspired I guess by what's been happening in Portland for the last week or so.

Note that it was totally peaceful and there were no counter-protestors.

And my 'Gulf of Mexico' T-shirt was a hit, with many people asking if they could take a picture.

Possibly the largest peaceful Protest in American history was held today; which millions of people Trumpers in Gov called violent antifa rioters.

Carried a no kings sign on my backpack through a couple of airports. Was able to catch the end of the rally in Myrtle Beach. Lots of honking. The only violence was a Trumper that got dragged out of her SUV. She had brandished a handgun then got stuck at a stop light. Cops were right there to intervene.
One great sign I saw carried by a young woman, "I'm not ovary acting."

Some say the No Kings protests originated in southern California in the early 90s.

They tried to charge those responsible but the jury found the No Kings protests were fine.

Some didn't like this and rioted on April 29th 1992.

No Kings lives on to this day!

It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood here in Humboldt.

Thousands showed up and there were dancing frogs dinosaurs and dragons and so much more.

The creativity and the atmosphere of love and community reminded me a bit of the love fests of the 60s and 70s. But with better costumes.

The people were wonderful and the protest signs were awesome. There were cops on bikes keeping an eye on us and when we they rode by the crowd cheered them madly.

The whole thing got to me once and brought tears to my old eyes.

This is what democracy looks like.
