Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, November 06, 2025

Josh Marshall, Talking Points Memo: The clearest read of what happened last night is that, as far as I can tell, Democrats won every race that was in meaningful contention anywhere in the country. That's not just high-profile races in New York, New Jersey and Virginia or the redistricting proposition in California. It goes way down into races only obsessives or local observers were watching in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Mississippi and a bunch of other places. Democrats won everywhere, and just about everywhere they won by larger margins than even optimists were expecting.

Surprisingly quiet after Trumpanzee's rather bizarre concession speech the other night. He's expecting waaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy too much out of the same pack of suckups who failed to deliver an alternative to "Obamacare" in over a decade after its inception in 2014...

If there is a free and fair election this time next year, Trump and MAGA are finished.

Sine they know that, they will sell their souls to Satan to make sure that it is anything but.

Because they are perfectly happy letting lower middle class people who do not have employer provided health care suffer and die. Any alternative to ACA would require spending on tax money on anything other than war and they will not do that.

Please don't start the blue wave s*&^. That's like W standing in front of "Mission Accomplished."

It's one election in an off year. While it might be a sign of momentum building, it's far too early for back pats and is really a sign that effort needs to increase, messaging needs to learn and improve and those who want change from our current nightmare need to dig deeper and entrench themselves further in the long fight.

There's a lot of damage that can be done in the next year and one year is a TON of time for a lawless administration to kneecap free and fair elections in next year's midterms.

That's not quite true. Gender-affirming care should absolutely be part of normal healthcare, and healthcare should be a responsibility of the government.

Not all gender-affirming care is surgery, but surgery should absolutely be covered as part of Medicare for All.

Perhaps they do both "suck".

But one party obviously "sucks" way worse than the other.

And so we vote for the lesser of two evils.

It's pretty much always been that way in America.

The third party candidate is what ensured a social democrat named Mamdani would become Mayor of NYC.

Perhaps you will get to vote for Mamdani when he runs for president on the democratic/socialist platform.

Assuming we do get to vote for President ever again.

Debt burden: New York City has one of the highest municipal debt burdens in the nation, primarily due to its capital needs and reliance on bonds to finance projects.
Debt service: In fiscal year 2020, debt service costs for city-supported debt were slightly below 11% of tax revenues.

Blah-blah-blah.

While these poltroons demonize Zohran Mamdani, the discussion moves away from the Jeffrey Epstein files, Putin's inhuman onslaught against Ukraine, America's unsafe skies during the Republican Party government shutdown, Israel's vicious pogrom against the Palestinians, Dummkopf Trumpf's increasing dementia and unpopularity, the increase in food insecurity in the US thanks to Trumpf, and American aggression against Venezuela or Colombia.

But go ahead trolls, waste somebody else's time on drudge.com attacking Zohran. Me, I just use *killfile.*

One thing that surprised me was the good state of Pennsylvania.

Usually elections in that swing state are won by less than five percentage points.

Yet this week, Democrats there won most of their races by a dozen or so percentage points.

It is probably a bit too early for detailed analysis, but my first guess is that the Independents there may have swung strongly towards the Democrat candidates.

Mamdani's transition committee raises over $500,000 in first 30 hours, outpacing Adams and De Blasio

New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani reeled in over half a million dollars in just over a day since launching his transition committee.

The committee received $517,947.30 from 7,028 donors, with an average donation of just below $80. Mayor Eric Adams and former Mayor Bill de Blasio took a month to raise $1 million and $600,000, respectively.

-> Georgia voters ousted two Republican members of the state's Public Service Commission in favor of two Democrats"the first Democrats to win statewide nonfederal offices in decades.

-> Democrats in Mississippi Break the G.O.P.'s State House Supermajority

-> Every single county in Virginia - even deeply red counties - saw shifts TOWARDS the Democrats, as opposed to how they voted 1 year ago.

-> Dems flip Wichita School Board from a 4-3 GOP majority to a 5-2 Democratic majority. Democratic candidates Amy Warren and Amy Jensen defeated Republican incumbents Hazel Stabler and Kathy Bond.

->Two of Tuesday's school board elections were in Bucks County, Pa., which was considered "ground zero" for right-wing groups' takeover of school boards in 2021. A few years ago, conservatives on these boards in Pennbridge and Central Bucks districts were using their roles to pass policies targeting LGBTQ+ students and banning books.

---> Democrats flipped control of both boards in 2023, and on Tuesday, they ousted every Republican from both of these boards, except for one. The Pennbridge school board is now 8-1, with Democratic members in control. The Central Bucks school board is 9-0.

-> In Texas, we even won in Lockhart, which sits in a district so red that Democrats normally don't even run. We had a clean sweep in Cy-Fair ISD, another deeply red area that not even Greg Abbott could save your party.

-> In SD-9, another red district, we saw an 8 point shift for the Democrat
