The Congress folk defending her on the House floor are ridiculous.

Every media story, any leaning, is pointing out her actions were so bad, censure is a light sentence

Update:

The House voted 209-214 Tuesday night against formally reprimanding Del. Stacey Plaskett for communicating with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during a 2019 Oversight Committee hearing. The Democratic delegate will keep her House Intel post after the House voted down a formal reprimand.

Good. Just because she communicated with him doesn't mean she was in any way involved with his sexploitation evils.

Del. Stacey Plaskett (D-VI) is the first person of color now implicated in this sordid mess.

Why she kept her position in the HPSCI was a mystery to me, until I read that House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) personally selected the first Delegate from the US Virgin Islands to ever sit on this important committee.

Gotta keep the, um, "secrets" safe, right?

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) appears in the released emails. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) charged that Jeffries's campaign "solicited money from Jeffrey Epstein."

Like I said, there's alot of Democrats that will get caught up in this. Dont really know if it was a good idea for them to have these files released.

Especially if there is no smoking gun on Trump in there. But I guess it's good for the country to see all this. I'm wondering what other Republican "dogs that didn't bark" are going to be caught up in this as well.

No one even remotely suggested she was.

But even dealing with the man in the first place is the problem. Even after he was convicted the first time, she was still texting him, basically on the phone with him, while she was in a hearing.

Got to be a no-no.

"Just incredibly dishonest. Plaskett helped Epstein while serving in the Virgin Islands gov w/ tax credits, went on to work directly for Epstein's fixer, then received lavish campaign support from Epstein and his aides to clinch her election victory," Fang said in response to Raskin's comments.

Fang previously reported in 2023 that Plaskett, despite attempting to distance herself from the disgraced financier and claiming she had no knowledge of campaign donations made to her from Epstein, that was not the case.

"Plaskett not only repeatedly sought financial contributions from Epstein and had multiple face-to-face encounters with him, but she also worked directly for a St. Thomas-based law firm that played a role in cultivating influence for Epstein's clandestine activities," Fang wrote at the time.

He also added that Plaskett's involvement with Epstein could potentially even go further back because she previously served as an attorney on the Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority that granted Epstein hundreds of millions in alleged "improperly obtained tax exemptions over the course of two decades."

And this was all after he was convicted the first time.

"I heard recently from someone that I was taking advice from him," Plaskett added in her defense from the House floor Tuesday. "Let me tell you something. I don't need to get advice on how to question anybody from any individual. I have been a lawyer for 30 years."

But they were actively talking about how to question someone DURING THE HEARING. He even said "Good job" to her when she finished.

Nothing sketchy here.

Most of my Republican friends left. They saw the shift " the rot " the slow swap of principle for populist cruelty. They saw the party become a bonfire of its own values, and they refused to warm their hands by it. They weren't built for this moral sewer. They didn't want to be part of a movement that traded fiscal conservatism for fascist cosplay and bloodlust in a red hat.

But the ones who stayed? They stayed because this wasn't a betrayal. It was a reveal. They'd always been like this. They just needed someone to tell them it was safe to say it out loud.

And what Trump did for Megyn Kelly, he did for every last one of them.

His fanatical foot soldiers. His grievance-drunk groupies. His simpering sycophants. His ankle-grabbing lackeys. His clout-chasers with shriveled spines and Facebook obsessions. His flag-humpers dry-humping the Constitution between unhinged rants. His pearl-clutchers screeching about pronouns while their own kids won't speak to them.

His wannabe warriors playing patriot in plate carriers they bought with a veterans discount they didn't earn, stomping through Starbucks like they're storming Fallujah, fueled by Monster energy, delusion, and decades of unresolved daddy issues.

I don't think that's a fair comparison. Because Trump never had to hack it in the real world. Neither did W. Both had privilege, and both used it to dodge the draft. You could say they were right, for the wrong reasons.

The fact that both sent men like Boaz to die, when both chose the easy way out, probably makes them both morally inferior to Boaz.

Malcolm X's views on reconciliation with white people evolved significantly over his lifetime. Initially, as a leader in the Nation of Islam (NOI), he was a vocal proponent of Black separatism and an ardent critic of white society, referring to whites as "devils" and rejecting the Civil Rights Movement's goal of integration. However, after leaving the NOI and embarking on the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca in 1964, his outlook underwent a radical transformation.

And there is this ...

Larry Summers resigns from OpenAI board, Harvard launches probe after release of Epstein emails
www.nbcnews.com

... Larry Summers, the former treasury secretary and ex-president of Harvard University, announced Wednesday he would resign from the board of directors at OpenAI amid scrutiny on his connection to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein " ties that are now the subject of a new internal investigation at the Ivy League school.

"In line with my announcement to step away from my public commitments, I have also decided to resign from the board of OpenAI," Summers said in a statement Wednesday. "I am grateful for the opportunity to have served, excited about the potential of the company, and look forward to following their progress."

Summers, who was treasury secretary under President Bill Clinton and served as a top economic adviser to President Barack Obama, joined the board of OpenAI in November 2023.

OpenAI's board of directors said it respected Summers' decision to resign. "We appreciate his many contributions and the perspective he brought to the Board," the AI giant said in a statement.

Summers has been in the national spotlight following the House Oversight Committee's publication of more than 20,000 documents from Epstein's estate, including extensive email exchanges between Summers and Epstein. ...
