The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (DHW) is investigating an increase in illnesses linked to drinking unpasteurized, or raw, milk. Since May 19, 2026, nearly 60 people have reported becoming ill after drinking raw milk, DHW said in a release. At least 45 people have tested positive for campylobacteriosis, a bacterial infection. Not everyone who became sick has been tested, and officials said more cases may be identified as the investigation continues. "Most people who were sick reported consuming raw milk from two different milking operations " one in northern Idaho and one in southern Idaho," DHW said in the release. |
