I'm simply pointing out a potential problem for Democrats.

The alliance between Democrats and socially conservative Muslims strikes me as about as awkward and uncomfortable as the alliance between Reagan and the Moral Majority.

It's a strange political marriage between groups whose values don't really align.

Their cooperation seems driven more by short-term political incentives than by deep alignment of values and their mutual feelings for Christians and Jews.

I'm talking about the election, not just one state.

Not enough to change the result but I've never suggested Trump actually won.

My only point is you should stop saying there were zero proven cases of fraud in 2020.

Ask Dan why he keeps bringing up this zero comment. Who is he trying to convince? Normal thinking people don't believe there is zero fraud.

Frankly, I don't sit around thinking about 6 years ago.

My concern is shipping uncounted ballots needlessly in the future. There is a risk involved and we have modern technology we should be using.

I don't talk a lot about fraud although there is the risk of individuals being denied their right to vote freely in some home environments.

You know that happens...right?

You have to be a dimwit or in denial to not believe that does occur in some homes. And there are many other ways fraud can occur. People should spend time in jail for intentional voter fraud.

Every vote matters although it appears some people don't think that way.

If early voting is available, people should be required to vote in person unless they are out of the country or immobile.

I'm not blaming American Muslims for what Muslims in other countries do. I'm going by what I have seen here in the United States.

My wife worked at a retail store that hired a Muslim manager who expected a private room for prayer and the freedom to stop working at designated times to pray.

Personally, I think that goes beyond reasonable accommodation. Freedom of religion should protect a person's right to believe and practice their faith, but it should not automatically entitle anyone to special privileges or the right to disrupt the workplace.

Christians have long been expected to practice their faith without interfering with their job responsibilities. Why should a different standard apply to Muslims?

Criticizing unequal treatment is not bigotry.

One thing I always said was if you're going to criticize something, you should also propose a workable solution that can be discussed.

I was making a broader point. I was not suggesting that Muslims in America are going to start throwing gay people from rooftops.

My concern is that as some Muslim communities grow larger and gain greater political influence, they may begin seeking broader, and sometimes more intrusive, religious accommodations from the surrounding community. That has been an observed trend over the years in some parts of the United States.

Because those requests are presented as part of the free exercise of religion, government officials may find them difficult to restrict without raising constitutional or discrimination concerns.

That is why immigration and assimilation matter. Muslim immigrants, like everyone else who comes to America, should see themselves as part of the larger American community and not solely as members of a religious group. Living in a diverse country requires compromise. Religious freedom protects the right to worship, but it should not mean reshaping an entire community around one religion's practices.

In other words, many liberals seem more willing to accommodate Muslim religious practices that intrude upon others than they have been to accommodate comparable public Christian practices. That double standard may eventually come back to bite them.
