Cuba should come into an alliance with the U.S.

The tourism alone would help fund their socialist programs.

The United States will never recover it's standing in the world.

By electing a petulant wannabe dictator who works for Putin and loves Xi, Ergodan, and Lil Kim we have proven to the world we cannot be trusted to elect competent leaders that will defend democracy.

The GOP sold out this nation's reputation because the all have dossier's in the Kremlin with every underage child they raped, every illegal dollar they accepted, every russian hooker they were in bed with.

You look to the members of the GOP that fled the party over the past decade of Trump. They were tired of the hate pushed at them for standing up for our nation or afraid of the threats of death and violence from the feral maga horde.

One by one they all stood up on the floor of the House and Senate in the hours following 1/6 and all gave grandiose speeches of how Trump crossed the line by sending an armed mob to attack the Capitol resulting in death to police officers and magats alike. Then the leaders are summoned to Florida to kneel before his majesty and then one by one they all fall into line re-writing history that the mob were just tourists and they were hugging and kissing the police.

Mitch and the GOP had the chance to end his canidacy forever and put the nation and democracy above the orange king and they chose the orange king. EIther by threat of violence, exposure or bribe they signed onto the chaos and carnage he inflicted on the world and this nation.

Their legacy will forever be tied to him.

The legacy of the US used to be standing up for what is right, for helping people who are suffering, curing diseases and feeding the starving. Now it is all about grift, bribes, corruption and taking care of the people that already have the most wealth in the history of the world.

Kneecapping starlink and starshield in Ukraine while simultaneously easing sanctions and buying Russian blood diesel is the perfect example of that.

Cutting taxes for the 1% permanently while giving the middle class three year temporary tax breaks while also kicking families off of health insurance and food assistance is what the GOP has become.

My father always said the GOP only took care of the very wealthiest while stealing whatever they could from the poorest Americans and now they are not even trying to hide it anymore. They'll show you their bible with their left hand while picking your pocket with the right hand.

The worst thing for Cuba would be to affiliate with Batististas, folks like those who profited from Batista's exploitation of Cuba's poorest people and who were complicit with mobsters. The Trump Administration would open Cuba up to all sorts of pro-authoritarian greed-filled exploiters and would in all probability merely be an inverse nightmare for Cuba and so many Cubans.

Liberals have been telling for a long time now that Socialism and Communism are the best forms of governance and economic control ever in the history of ever that they are infallible and can never fail. In fact, they've gotten so loud about supporting those constructs they've even voted in Communists and Socialists. Liberals haven't been secret about this or even tried. They are proud of vilifying American just to support this cause. This is in every news outlet as proof-positive evidence and can't be argued.

"Because socialism was working prior to January 2026?"

It was working well enough that the Capitalists in Washington, DC found it necessary to impose a trade blockade. Which is arguably an act of war, under US treaty obligations.

Legal Distinction
U.S. government memoranda and international law experts note that a formal blockade is a belligerent act requiring a state of war, which does not legally exist between the United States and Cuba. Instead, the U.S. measures are legally defined as an embargo enforced through domestic sanctions authorities. However, critics argue the practical effect"cutting off vital supplies like fuel"is functionally equivalent to a naval blockade, a definition supported by the 1909 London Naval Conference rules, which the United States endorsed. -- AI summary

Embargo and Blockade aren't really interchangeable regardless of what the critics think. Iran is under blockade, and blockade runners get hit with missiles instead of sanctions.

"Are we arguing about something?"

During the Cuban Revolution, Fulgencio Batista was overthrown by the communists, who ended up being worse than Batista. He may have been bad, but Cuba at the time was one of the most developed and prosperous countries in the western hemisphere. Now, the average household income as around $277 per year. In comparison, the average yearly income in Afghanistan is around $5,700 per year.

There is no argument. Just a cautionary tale about how sometimes the cure is worse than the disease.

Yeah.

Norway could push oil into Cuba all day long and no one would do anything about it. Same with Russia. And they have.

#45 | Posted by madbomber at 2026-10-28 01:01 PM | Reply

The Cuban Revolution underwent a metamorphosis similar to that trackable when examining a number of other such transformative movements, e,g, the French, Russian, and Iranian revolutions. In each instance, the group that came to be associated with eventual dominance did not start out as the sole force providing revolutionary fuel. After an initial, broadly-based explosion there came the sorting out, where former allies frequently found themselves for any number of reasons on the receiving end of murderous purification purges.

Many Cubans who worked against the Batista regime thought they had a role to play in filling the power vacuum created by his absence. The Castro brothers and their gang soon disabused them of this notion. Along the Casteos, their flunkies, and the US embargo pretty much destroyed the joint, transforming it utterly. I have heard Cubanos who left around that 1959 pivotal year note with exasperation that they literally cannot understand what modern in-Cuba Cubans say when they speak. The situation so far more complex than most Americans realize - and, most assuredly, follow the money.

You live a life, delightfully free of facts.
The United States would put retaliatory tariffs on any country doing that, per Executive Order 14380:

"To deal with the national emergency declared in this order, I determine that it is necessary and appropriate to establish a tariff system, as described below. Under this system, an additional ad valorem duty may be imposed on imports of goods that are products of a foreign country that directly or indirectly sells or otherwise provides any oil to Cuba."

OK. So seafood becomes more expensive for USans.

Norway has about $4 billion in trade each year with the US. Norway's GPD is $650 billion, and their Sovereign Wealth Fund is worth $2.5 trillion.

If they wanted to, they could push oil to Cuba all day long. What the US could potentially do in response, would be to deny them support for the military purchases they have made, such as the F-35. But I'm sure those F-35s would quickly find an out-of-market buyer, and be replaced by similar aircraft.
