I'm convinced that if it hadn't been for COVID and the sudden, widespread use of mail-in ballots rolled out through inconsistent and largely untested procedures and processes, we wouldn't have seen the Capitol break-in. The voting changes created massive doubt and suspicion.

It was a perfect storm. There was pandemic panic, rushed election processes, and a public on edge. But it wasn't a planned coup. If someone genuinely thought that stealing Nancy Pelosi's gavel or kicking their feet up on her desk would somehow transfer power, they clearly mistook Congress for a game of capture the flag.

Yes, some will say it was planned by groups like the Proud Boys or Oath Keepers, and sure a few came looking for trouble. But a handful of extremists with radios and zip ties doesn't equal a coordinated takeover. A real coup requires military backing, and a plan to actually hold onto power and not a bunch of face-painted livestreamers wandering between the velvet ropes.

Most of them were just angry, directionless, and caught up in the moment. It was chaotic, reckless, and a mistake, But calling it an orchestrated overthrow gives it far more credit than it deserves.

Here's how close it came to succeeding. If Mike Pence would have went along with Trump's demand and rejected the votes or has he allowed his handlers to remove him from the Capitol on Jan 6 then the plan that claim doesn't exist would have succeeded.
You don't have to take my word for it. Pence had this to say "President Trump demanded that I use my authority as vice president presiding over the count of the Electoral College to essentially overturn the election by returning or literally rejecting votes."

This is how far from normal we have come.

The Senate (also part of the "Feds) should have been up on the podium with the rest of them. He should have had a chance to speak along side of the others. It's the Senators job. Also the job of Governor and the mayor and local police for that matter.

But the President is not coordinating with local emergency managers and local authorities.

That is a major part of the problem.

he stage was set. When Padilla created a scene, he was justifiably escorted out " as he anticipated.
This was all a pre-planned stunt to gain sympathy and as an opportunity to blame Trump.
Padilla got the idea from Gavin Newsom daring Trump to arrest him a couple of days ago. When Trump didn't take the bait, Padilla made the idea his own and then forced the issue at a Sec. Noem news conference.
Or Padilla is a pervert trying to bum-rush his way to the podium for a chance to grope the Homeland Security Secretary.
Either way, it's unhinged Dems being unhinged Dems " trying to control the narrative with no solutions, only stunts.

Appearing on CNN's The Arena, security correspondent Josh Campbell said that agents acted appropriately in escorting the senator out of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's press conference after he interrupted.

"From a law enforcement perspective, we're really looking at three separate incidents that happened within a short period of time," Campbell explained. "First, you have the DHS secretary who was addressing the press. This was not a Q&A period, and she was interrupted. She was interrupted by someone who was speaking very loudly. And so her security detail confronts what we obviously now know to be the senator. And at that point, he is now going to be escorted out. A long time problem with Democrats is how they thrive on hype, deceipt, lies and made up media trickery and baloney as their core message and value instead of honesty and straight forward candor.

On Jan 7 2021 in the capital a well regarded female vet Ashli Babbitt tried to enter a closed off area just like the foolish show boating unidentified Alex Padilla, Against all common sense as an official he barged anonymously into a sealed protected area. Padilla should have addressed his issues prior to barging in and in fact he could have been shot just as they claimed about Ashli Babbit. The government was eventually sued for 5 Million in Babbitt case and lost.

This Dem Senator was trying to instigate and should have known better.
