Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, July 17, 2024

In remarks to Pacifica Christian High School in California last September, J.D. Vance said it's a problem when people leave violent marriages. "This is one of the great tricks that I think the sexual revolution pulled on the American populace, which is the idea that like, well, OK, these marriages were fundamentally, you know, they were maybe even violent, but certainly they were unhappy. And so getting rid of them and making it easier for people to shift spouses like they change their underwear, that's going to make people happier in the long term."

"And maybe it worked out for the moms and dads, though I'm skeptical. But it really didn't work out for the kids of those marriages," Vance continued. "And that's what I think all of us should be honest about, is we've run this experiment in real time. And what we have is a lot of very, very real family dysfunction that's making our kids unhappy."

Is Jordan Peterson one of Vance's speechwriters? I'd say he's gonna help Trump with the angry bro vote, but he's already got that one nailed down.

Well, ever since liberals changed the laws in many places so that if a woman cheats on her spouse, she still is entitled to 50% and more in assets if he tries to divorce her...welcome to the world of stupidity. Glad you finally made it. Many of us have been waiting.

Now that you understand legislative stupidity, why not try to stop Dems from continuing to do it?

#8 | Posted by humtake at 2024-07-17 11:41 AM | Reply | Funny: 4

Sure, dumbtake, "liberals" changed the laws just so women can cheat and get half. No mention of the men who cheat and/or beat their wives, of course.

No-fault divorce was first legalized in California by Ronald Reagan, the first president who has been divorced.

Trump was the second president to be divorced. Divorced twice.

You'd think that losing 50% would maybe make you think about cheating.
That's probably one more reason White "christian" males are so pissed. And here comes Vance giving them all they want - no more divorce, freedom to beat their b**ches, no problem having guns and being a domestic violence record. No birth control and no abortion.

That'll teach them "libs!"

"Marriage is a tax state. Nothing more."

You're joking, right?

At its root, marriage is a legal contract conferring superseding rights onto one other person. (By definition there is no way to confer superseding rights to more than one person.)

The legal condition of Marriage offers over 1,400 legal protections, from unlimited monetary gifts, to optional refusal to testify against the other, to Social Security payouts, to filing jointly, to first-refusal rights to pensions, etc., etc., etc.

#28 | Posted by Danforth at 2024-07-17 04:53 PM | Reply

Fkkk.

I must be old fashioned. Because despite all and any legal benefits marriage provides. The commitment and devotion one has for another is the only reason I had for proposing to my life partner.

Melanie allows his infidelity to go unchallenged because sooner rather than later he will assume room temperature.

It's amazing that Hilary faced the question of why she didn't divorce Bill after Monica, yet no one ever asked the same question to Melanie.

The double standards are breathtaking.

@#41 ... Vance is a f**king -----. ...

I don't know if I would go that far.

But I will say that he does not seem to be a person of his convictions, considering how quickly he went from criticizing fmr Pres Trump to adulating fmr Pres Trump.

That's not loyalty to a cause, it is begging for a favor (in Sen Vance's case, fmr Pres Trump's endorsement in the 2022 election).

So, if the now GOP VP candidate seems to be so willing to make such a major change in his world-view, just to be anointed into the Cult of Trump, what other of his views are seemingly up for grabs in return for some personal benefit?

Selling the Country out for personnel benefit?

It seems several republicans have gone through this "evolution".

The #NeverTrump facade was dropped quickly.

Besides, Trump is nearly 80, can he survive another four years?

I bet Vance is hoping he doesn't.

So, Sen Vance thinks getting married is like putting on a new set of underware?

That apparent degradation of marriage aside.

I have to ask about the specific clothing Sen Vance used in his analogy.

Does he have a fixation in the groin region?
