Military leaders are valid military targets. Which means that these attacks were almost certainly legal under the Geneva Conventions and LOAC. The only possible question would be proportionality. 'Senior leader' may mean different things. I'm sure the Israelis would have little issue presenting the legal reviews on the targets to those with the appropriate need to know.

Now let's compare that to Hamas's rocket attacks on cities in Israel.

It's funny. A few years ago, I'd have said that Israel has a right to exist. I'd have said that their apartheid system needs to be dismantled and those responsible sent to the ICC. I said there could be a one-state or two-state solution, as long as everybody has full rights.

Over the last two years, the Israeli government has systematically forfeit any right to exist, and after the 2022 election the population shares the blame.

I hope Iran picks up a few allies in the region and crushes Israel. It no longer has a right to exist as a state.

(I don't care about the religions. Screw them all, there is no god and adults shouldn't have imaginary friends.)

It put military buildings in civilian centers. It put anti-missile defense systems in civilian centers. It put its military personnel in civilian apartments with their families. It let military personnel go to civilian hospitals. (Hint: This is the justification to attack civilian buildings that Israel uses)

That's the really big thing that no one seems to get here. It's not indiscriminate. Those were very accurate pinpoint strikes that minimized collateral damage. For some background, the only interaction I ever had with the IDF was when we were copying their techniques on how to limit collateral damage when the coalition was dropping on ISIS.

The only additional measure Israel could have taken was to message the generals and scientists that they were going to die, and it would be better for everyone if they separated themselves from the civilian population.

Under the Geneva Conventions, yes. Absolutely. The military commander is a valid military target. The only additional legal consideration is proportionality. Using the least amount of force possible to get the kill.

And it applies to Hamas as well. Had Hamas attacked military outposts or military leadership, it's very likely the position of global governments would have been far different. Those are valid military targets. Instead, they chose to rape and murder kids at a rave.

I'm a fan of peace not politics. We see countries and deep states manipulate events purposely to create war and profits. None of them care about real people. The reality is there deep state manipulation exists that sets up countries and creates events for war. Im not going to defend Iran but it was actually a democracy in 1953 when England and USA decided they wanted their oil and installed a new dictator. The Middle East is a hot bed of cynicism and lies.
