Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, September 15, 2025

“The whole thing is screwed up,” said John Painter, a three-time Trump voter who runs an organic dairy farm in Westfield. “We need people to do the jobs Americans are too spoiled to do.”

In Tioga County, where President Donald Trump won 75 percent of the vote in 2024, farmers are losing patience with the White House's promise of a quick solution for farm workers. Their urgent need is highlighted by stories like those of a multigenerational dairy farm that sold off all its dairy cows because the owner could not find workers and another where a farmer's job listings have received no responses.

Why Pennsylvania farmers have any "patience" at all with the man who is trying to ruin them is both funny and sad.

Pay MORE.

Cheap people don't want to pay what the job really costs.

Use some of the "farm subsidies" to pay Americans More.

Spoiled farmers too Cheap to pay their workers enough.

No wonder Americans don't want the "jobs".

Illegals don't want em' either but they're Desperate.

Farmers are so stupid.

A question for those of you who think farmers are so stupid for voting for a republican ... ... . what alternative strategy or campaign promise did the Democrats make in contrast?

" if you vote for Trump, you'll lose your workers. But if you vote for me, you'll get to keep them and have more of them."

Anything like that?

While you're thinking through that, ponder this question as well ... .. are any Democrats gonna campaign to farmers and tell them they will return the workers to them?

Is anyone gonna actually make that the issue?

#6 | Posted by eberly at 2025-09-15 01:18 PM | Reply

Gee, no one warned them on Fox News; maybe it's time to change the channel? Maybe time to wonder what else they aren't telling you about? Nah! Those people really are that stupid and the Fox News hosts are all good Christians and patriotic Americans just like Donald Trump. Those farmers in Pennsylvania and most Republicans believe him when he loudly peoclaimed "I love all my Christians!" I honestly did wonder at the time if Americans were really stupid enough to believe that garbage but then I found out that, yes, Americans really are that stupid! I get no pleasure in saying that, but it is just the cold hard truth! Do now they are discovering that most of these people that, their hero, Trump is deporting were doing important job like picking crops and milking cows? OMG! Why didn't anyone ever tell them that? Oh wait...they did but it just wasn't on Fox News so a huge number of Americans never heard them!

FAFO, Farmers.

So, Eb, your point is that all this Republican economic screwing of Republicans is the result of failure of the Democrats not to have sufficiently warned them?

That's your serious opinion?

That's what you are going with?

Pretty sure they did.

Ya know, ya can lead a horticulture, but you cant make em think.

You think that they they didn't know that Trump was a Liar, a thief, a tax cheat, and a Putin humpin' ----- grabbin' fraudster and 34-time convicted Felon... and that is the fault of the Dems?

A question for those of you who think farmers are so stupid for voting for a republican ... ... . what alternative strategy or campaign promise did the Democrats make in contrast?

At the very least a status quo.

Not the double whammy of rounding up their labor and starting trade wars with their buyers.

No matter how you slice it, these people are idiots who are in the FO phase they assumed they wouldn't have to endure.

I'm expecting it to only get worse as it becomes clear that there is intent behind this. As farmland is bought for pennies on the dollar in the coming months/years by the same groups of investors/PE funds, I expect the caterwauling to be heard from miles away as they realize they were intentionally had.

I think voters are idiots anyway so these specific voters make little difference one way or the other.

For those of you who think they are idiots and it bothers you so much....then answer the question.

What alternative was laid out to them they chose to ignore or not believe?

We spend a generation at least focusing on social wedge issues like abortion and gay marriage and both sides work to control the large cities in those states...not the rural areas.

What alternative message did the farmers ignore? And let's be specific since you're bitching about Pennsylvania farmers......who campaigned in rural Pennsylvania and slammed Trump for what he said he was going to do to them and how they would NOT do those things and work in their favor?

immigrant workers, soybeans, etc.....the very things you're harping on today.

If two Uber drivers showed up to pick up a passenger and one of them was a vanilla a&& normal driver with a mediocre rating who basically said "I'll get you there and there's a few free snacks in the back if you want" vs the second one who had previously picked up that passenger, assaulted them and threw them out before getting to the destination who pulled up yelling "yeah motherf*&^er! Dummkopf Trumpf is also destroying the lucrative Florida Keys lobster industry. Between ICE raids on boats and tariffs, the fishermen can't find crews to man their boats nor can they sell their lobsters to the Asian markets which prefer their Caribbean crustacean over the New England variety. On 5 Nov 2024, 56.09% of eligible Florida voters chose Dummkopf Trumpf.

Where is the documented effort on the part of the democratic party to campaign these farmers and offer a solution to their problems with trump (and his promises)?

And....MOST importantly.....are the dems going to take advantage of this and campaign these farmers next time?

If I attacked inner city poor for voting for democrats....and then again and then again...and their situation is the same. Poor, bad healthcare, bad schools, bad conditions, crime, blight, etc....a very fair question would be "Well, did any republicans campaign in these neighborhoods and offer a solution to their problems??" Stop crying like little bitches and offer a reasonable answer to the question.

It's not a sound question.

Their problems with trump, as you call it, only came about because they were stupid enough to vote for him.

They campaigned on shoring up the border and overhauling the immigration system (they even had a bipartisan bill to do so, remember? Trump killed it because immigration bigotry was central to their plan to shred the constitution) because those did need to be done. Both of those are things that the farmers presumably wanted given their vote.

Trump campaigned on that and on the additional steps of mass deportation. Stop ignoring their blind obedience that led to their own demise.

#36 | Posted by eberly

The last section is a false dichotomy because it's not an accurate analogy. You're still arguing as if it's normal times.

The farmers voted believing it would remain normal times.

What we're saying is that it was clear from the beginning that it wasn't going to be normal times. And that was a warning shouted from the rooftops over and over and over and over and over and over and over...

Again, why does your position hinge on Dems and not the threats/promises from Trump that Trump is acting on?

His own Agenda 47 website said it quite clearly:

2. Enforce Immigration Laws
Republicans will strengthen ICE, increase penalties for illegal entry and overstaying Visas, and reinstate "Remain in
Mexico" and other Policies that helped reduce Illegal Immigration by historic lows in President Trump's first term. We will
also invoke the Alien Enemies Act to remove all known or suspected gang members, drug dealers, or cartel members from
the United States, ending the scourge of Illegal Alien gang violence once and for all. We will bring back the Travel Ban, and
use Title 42 to end the child trafficking crisis by returning all trafficked children to their families in their Home Countries
immediately.
3. Begin Largest Deportation Program in American History
President Trump and Republicans will reverse the Democrats' destructive Open Borders Policies that have allowed criminal
gangs and Illegal Aliens from around the World to roam the United States without consequences. The Republican Party is
committed to sending Illegal Aliens back home and removing those who have violated our Laws.

And

1. Rebalance Trade
Our Trade deficit in goods has grown to over $1 Trillion Dollars a year. Republicans will support baseline Tariffs on Foreign
made goods, pass the Trump Reciprocal Trade Act, and respond to unfair Trading practices. As Tariffs on Foreign Producers
go up, Taxes on American Workers, Families, and Businesses can come down.
2. Secure Strategic Independence from China
Republicans will revoke China's Most Favored Nation status, phase out imports of essential goods, and stop China from
buying American Real Estate and Industries.

What, those actions weren't going to have consequences and they were going to just keep selling to China as if everything was normal?

Foreign aid cuts, another huge market/buyer for US produced food stuffs, was a constant target during Trump's first administration.

"he clearly stated he was going to gut their labor force and destroy their markets."

LOL

not even close to being true....and even if it were close to being true.....the democrats missed it.

In fact.....where was JPW on these issues with regards to agriculture prior to the election.

Where did YOU predict their demise?

It was clear and obvious.

So.......when was this debated by you prior to the election?

#56 | Posted by eberly at 2025-09-15 04:15 PM | Reply

They didn't think that. Again, republicans have been lying about immigration forever.

Read the links in #55.

Then tell me again how "they didn't think that" isn't pure stupidity.

Where were warnings from those resources? Don't vote for Trump. He's gonna wreck your business!! Wait...no, they weren't hearing that. Where were the democrats with that message?
Again.....crickets.

So despite living through Trump 1.0 and his bad ag policy, they had to still be told these things? But they're not stupid?

you think everyone who either disagrees with you are believes in anything different from you is an idiot.

Nope. I think people who argue with spurious information, poor logic and a lack of facts are idiots. I've known plenty of people who disagree with me that I don't think are idiots because they can actually craft an actual argument.

You all realize of course that JPW has declared the most honest politician in the history of the US is............you guessed it......Donald Trump.
#54 | Posted by eberly

So they voted for a complete unknown or their own demise because they didn't get a good enough slate of stuff the Dems would do for them.

You just keep right on diggin'.

Again. Post 55. Trump had already done significant damage to the ag industry in his first administration, but he bailed them out because he needed the votes.

This time he's screwing them again but is refusing to bail them out.

That's what you get for trusting Donald Trump.

Now you're just getting yawn levels of ridiculous.

If farmers needed JPW from the Drudge Retort to tell them what was going to happen, then they are in fact...wait for it...stupid.

-I've known plenty of people who disagree with me that I don't think are idiots

LOL

-So despite living through Trump 1.0 and his bad ag policy,

you're offering nothing up for that.....

okay......you managed to do what I asked for much earlier.

not bad. At least you found a little information on it being discussed prior to the election.

But it wasn't much more than just noise clearly.

and the dems were silent on this.

Farmers should have known better. okay.

Actually what shocks me the most is that farmers went ahead and planted soybeans this year.

They counted on, and still do, specific help for them.

Which is what they are asking for......help. Not a do over on the last election.

Let's see if a leading democrat campaigns on this.

BTW I stopped posting links in 55 after only the second page of good results.

I'm sure it could be much, much longer. Especially if I used a different search engine since Google is so dominated by the current news it was only about one ever 4th result that was from 2024.

Their urgent need is highlighted by stories like those of a multigenerational dairy farm that sold off all its dairy cows because the owner could not find workers and another where a farmer's job listings have received no responses.

This is the problem of illegal immigration, and a poor use of H1B.

A whole industry (Agriculture) now relies upon it, and it's not the only industry.

So while the lower-class poor citizens are shipped off to college, graduating, only to find themselves competing with H1Bs, the lower end of the wage has been over taken by the illegal immigration.

There's no good way out of this. Fascinating the bind the Lumpers have gotten America into.

Certainly, diversity is a strength, but you must admit it's killing your citizens.

But it wasn't much more than just noise clearly.

Just noise. LOL

I show you people/interest groups clearly aware of what his previous policies did and now it's just noise...

Mike Pompeo took a bunch of s(*& from Iowa farmers because of how bad it was...and they still voted for Trump anyway. Just noise, huh?

Which is what they are asking for......help. Not a do over on the last election.

They're asking to be bailed out of their self-inflicted FO. Stupidity.

That's why all the information I posted is "just noise." They expected to be treated differently and, adding a second layer of stupidity here, thought they would be shown loyalty by Trump as a sizeable portion of his base.

and the dems were silent on this.

I hope to God you're day drinking because if you're not...wow.

Let's see if a leading democrat campaigns on this.

Incorrect question.

Let's see if an election is even allowed to happen in a fair and secure fashion.

-they are in fact...wait for it...stupid.

yeah...we know.

we are still traveling to the central point I'm making. I'm asking you to carry my very heavy luggage along the way.

Thanks, BTW.

Fascinating the bind the Lumpers have gotten America into.

And this dishonest sack of s(*& shows up to rub his inflamed a&&hole all over the carpet...

"and they still voted for Trump anyway. Just noise, huh?"

exactly. they bitch and moan but their vote stayed the same.

noise and not much else.

-That's why all the information I posted is "just noise."

It is nothing but noise if they aren't considering another candidate.

where do any of those articles suggest listening to what a democrat wanting their votes has to say on the issue?

Where was Harris on these issues?

Could it be they didn't have time to address them because they were too busy campaigning in the inner cities and talking about abortion, gay/trans, minimum wage, etc...?

And I get why.....they are trying to win and it makes more sense to spend time in Philly rather than rural Pennsylvania...same goes with Cleveland, Detroit, Milwaukee, ie large cities in swing states.

the farmers rejected what was clearly a better alternative FOR THEM.

#46 | Posted by eberly

The farmers DID reject what was clearly a better alternative FOR THEM. The information about what was going to happen was out there. All they had to do was read it.

I personally know a few farmers who studied it and voted Dem. JPW has a point, ignorance got many of them into this.

#66 | Posted by Whatsleft at 2025-09-15 04:38 PM | Reply

"The information about what was going to happen was out there. All they had to do was read it."

Read it? Where did any of it tell them to run from Trump? If anything, it was limited to how to diversify your crops and prepare for it.

I referenced all the local and national associations, buying groups, lenders, suppliers....all of whom make a living off these farmers. They all can talk to farmers and give direction.

where did any of them ever them to "Don't vote Trump"?

You think unions leave it to "the information was out there"? how about Minority advocacy groups? "our members should just know better!!"?

come on......

Everybody endorses candidates and candidates seek endorsements.

It's a pretty huge conspiracy for everyone out there to ignore it all and stick with Trump when they knew it would screw farmers this bad.

Hindsight is 20/20. We all know that.

But why did everyone in the entire industry stay silent? Including the democrats??

So while the lower-class poor citizens are shipped off to college

#61 | POSTED BY ONEIRONAUT

"Shipped off"?

Like, in cattle cars?

I've asked you your education level before.

You've never answered.

I think that you're jealous that some "lower-class" person got something you don't have.

#68 | Posted by Zed at 2025-09-15 04:51 PM | Reply

Here is another clue as to how all that messaging was just noise.

How does one campaign against Trump?

By calling him an honest man? Of course not. What democrat would ever do that?

How do you attack him for his lies and then insist he's telling the truth on trade and immigration?

#69 | Posted by eberly at 2025-09-15 04:52 PM | Reply

Red State Trump supporters deserve EVERY bad thing that happens to them. Smart people everywhere had to know stuff like this was going to happen if Trump got elected. Now enjoy your Shit Souffle. Losers.

then insist he's (Donald) telling the truth on trade and immigration?

#69 | POSTED BY EBERLY

Um, when did he do that?

#71 | Posted by Zed at 2025-09-15 04:57 PM | Reply

-Red State Trump supporters deserve EVERY bad thing that happens to them.

At least Moder8 honestly admits where the issue ends for him.

Where Trump voters matter. Not where they don't.

That's why these piss and moan fests are directed at farmers in states Trump carried.

More farmers in California voted for Trump than many red states combined.

But no whining about them. Only the farmers in red states.

#72 | Posted by eberly at 2025-09-15 04:58 PM | Reply

And again....if you're running against that.....why not offer an alternative.
#22 | Posted by eberly

Trump: "Farmers, you should take a gun and shoot yourselves in the dick!"
Dems: "That's a bad idea and you shouldn't do that."
Farmers: *Shoots themselves in the dick and start rolling around on the ground in pain*
Eberly: "Dems should have offered an alternative to farmers shooting themselves in the dick!"

California OVERWHELMINGLY voted for Harris. It is the citizens of Red States who deserve to suffer anything that happens. Not Blue States. Duh.

nothing stopping the dems from doing that.

nothing stopping them from showing them how trump is bad for them and how they're better.

especially in states like Pennsylvania where votes really matter.

it should be more like this...."Trump has almost entirely killed your farm and did kill many farms here. I won't let that happen. I'll protect your farm".

#75 | Posted by eberly at 2025-09-15 05:02 PM | Reply

No. You are not the one failing to understand that it is the citizens of RED STATES who most deserve to suffer under Trump. Not a bunch dumb-**ck sheep-**ckers outside of Bakersfield.
