The company is run by the husband of Noem's chief DHS spokesperson and has personal and business ties to Noem and her aides. DHS invoked the "emergency" at the border to skirt competitive bidding rules for the taxpayer-funded campaign.

Democrats passed the ACA.

Republicans passed tax cuts for the wealthy and attempted to repeal (and NOT) replace the ACA 70 times!

The difference could not be clearer.

Especially after this recent shutdown.

That is the one thing Democrats did get from the shutdown.

We need cost controls tied to whatever Healthcare system we inact. Lack of cost controls was ACA'S ultimate undoing.

The problem with throwing more money at ACA witbout cost management is it's always a temporary fix because costs will rise to match, guaranteed. The system resets to a higher baseline.

If the mandate had been kept, now we'd have healthy young people subsidizing the unhealthy and ACA would still be coming back to the extensions trough for more.

Every year, the money needed will always go up a little bit more, with no end in sight, unless someone does something unpopular like slamming on the brakes.

Sounds like Medicare for All, or any kind of Universal Health Care. Most first-world countries do it via taxation of ALL the populace.

Anyone that says Medicare for all is a solution to controlling high healthcare costs and providing healthcare for all, is not on Medicare and had to wade through supplement and part C plans. Medicare is good for everyone except the really sick with chronic illness, which eventually include most people.

What are your ideas on actually lowering the costs? All I've seen is platitudes (We can't have runaway premiums; We have to lower the costs) but no hard suggestions.

That's because every year, you get older. And every year, there's medical inflation.

Every one of the policies on healthcare.gov, EVERY ONE OF THEM, has a rising price for every age. Between 27 and 64, there are THIRTY-EIGHT different premiums for every policy, all based on your age that year.

The folks who are 64 ALWAYS pay top of the market (Currently around $1200-$1500month), and that's usually what COBRA folks pay as well.

So your prices should go up every year for TWO reasons: you're a more expensive client than younger you last year...

...and medical inflation.
