President Trump blasted Democratic politicians who declined to endorse his State of the Union message that the "first duty" of the US government is to protect American citizens over illegal migrants. "One of the great things about the State of the Union is how it gives Americans the chance to see clearly what their representatives really believe," Trump said during his Tuesday night remarks in the House chamber. "So tonight, I'm inviting every legislator to join with my administration in reaffirming a fundamental principle. If you agree with this statement, then stand up and show your support: The first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens." Duly cued, Republicans led by Vice President JD Vance and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) rose to their feet while scores of Democrats remained firmly seated.

There was a point there when I wondered if the dems who no-showed were better off.

I watched it on ABC....they showed the same folks not standing up when we were honoring soldiers, families of folks killed, etc.....and it showed the dems stoically sitting there and them Trump shaking his head at them.

How many times has a Jury convicted him of sexual assault? Once.

How many Fraud Convictions? 34?

Team USA gold medal champions
Law enforcement and Border Patrol agents
American heroes
Americans over illegals

That's on Trump and the Republicans not the Democrats. Trump incited murder in the Capitol after losing in 2020. Not very Civil is it? He has pardoned the Criminals of 01/06/2021 and declared them to be Patriots. Trump is Waging a very real "war" on liberal States and Cities.

During the State of the Union?

The State of the Union speech isn't required by the constitution. reporting on the state of the union is required but he is invited by the House to come and deliver in in person.

I don't care about the not standing up and I don't care if the president has to tolerate some interruptions. We interrupt him plenty of times for applause and he's fine with that so being interrupted with disagreement is fine as well as far as I'm concerned.

I'm merely pointing out when Joe Wilson yelled "you lie" that made his wiki page and dominated news for quite a while. At the time, that was a major breach of etiquette.

Omar can "Keep it real" 24/7 all she wants....but it's not unreasonable to point out that there should be limits on it during a SOTU speech.

Trump wouldn't care if paint balls where shot at the next president if he agreed with the shooter.

Trump framed the speech to shine a light on dems he knew wouldn't stand no matter what. He referenced guest after guest that it would look bad if dems didn't stand and applaud them.

I don't know if it's going to impact upcoming elections. we'll see.

I didnt watch it and wont bother with the snips I could find online but I dont see how it could have been any worse than Biden was treated each year.
