Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, March 04, 2026

The march to the US midterm elections, which will determine which party controls both chambers of Congress for the second half of Donald Trump's presidency, is officially under way.

For the Democrats, state representative James Talarico defeated Dallas-based US Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett and will advance to the general election.

The Republican race was not decided on Tuesday, as Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and US Senator John Cornyn, the incumbent, each finished with less than 50% of the overall vote. The two men will advance to a run-off election on 26 May.

"Here are five takeaways from the voting in Texas - in what is just the start of months of primary campaigning across America.

Crockett performed well in Texas's major metropolitan areas - including her home city of Dallas as well as Houston - and the eastern portion of the state, with its large black population.

But Talarico carried suburbs with affluent white liberals and areas with large numbers of Hispanic voters " including San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley along the US-Mexico border.

"The people of our state gave this country a little bit of hope," Talarico said in his election night speech before the result came in. "And a little bit of hope is a dangerous thing."

Later, when his primary victory was called, Talarico said in a statement that "we're about to take back Texas"."

I'm seeing lots of stuff on Threads/Blue Sky that the Dems are already walking into a blunder with Crockett questioning the results and planning a challenge.

James Talarico Primary Night Remarks

"Thank you. Thank y'all so much. I
appreciate y'all. Thank you for staying
up. Thank you. Thank you.

Tonight, our campaign is shocking the nation. We
we are still waiting for an official
call, but we are confident in this
movement we've built together.

Every vote must be counted. Every voice
must be heard. The voter suppression in
my home county and in Congresswoman
Crockett's home county underscores the
gravity of this moment.

This this movement is about whether the
people will hold the power in this state
and in this country.

We have recruited more than 28,000
volunteers who are organizing in every
community across this state. and we have
shattered grassroots fundraising records
all without taking a dime from corporate
pacs.

This this is a people powered movement to
take on this broken corrupt political
system. This is truly a campaign of, by,
and for the people.

We are not we are not just trying to win
an election. We are trying to
fundamentally change our politics and
it's working.

The number of young people
who showed up to vote in this election
is unprecedented.

The number the number of Texans who have
never voted before but showed up in this
election is unprecedented.

The number of independents and Republicans who voted
in this Democratic primary is
unprecedented.

This is proof that there is something
happening in Texas tonight. Tonight, the people of our
state gave this country a little bit of
hope.

And a little bit of hope is a
dangerous thing."

I bet NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani took time to congratulate James Talarico.

Like Curtis Sliwa (R) in NYC who publicly condemned an injustice against Zohran (a threat against him and his family), so did James in his speech about Jasmine (voter suppression).

Unselfish.

The selfish ones like Andrew Cuomo or Jasmine Crockett will never do that.

Give her time; last night she was a victim of purposeful voter suppression. You'd be pissed, too.

One report had 486 votes cast at that precinct, and 400 voters redirected to a different polling place. Old rules were you could vote ANYWHERE there was poll open.

More votes got suppressed by Texas yesterday than ALL their vote-fraud convictions listed on the Heritage Foundation compendium, going back three decades.

BTW: I bet during the next blackout or blizzard that hits Texas, US Senator James Talarico (D) won't be skying out like the way Canadian-Cuban Ted Cruz usually does. You'll see photos of James Talarico helping his neighbors.

Voters said they were pretty happy with both candidates, and would have support whomever won against the Complete Criminals on the Republican side.

And apparently the Voter Suppression for both candidates was obvious to voters... and something we are going to see on a grand scale in November... well, if there's actually an election then.

Of course, were Dems to take the Congress, Trump's Reign of Terror would be over, so I for one will not be surprised whatever he does to stay in power.

The Voter Suppression in this case is a Republican Rule change that forced voters to vote their own districts rather than the previous freedom to vote anywhere in Dallas.

Anything to make voting more difficult.

The selfish ones like Andrew Cuomo or Jasmine Crockett will never do that.

Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett conceded to state Rep. James Talarico (D) on Wednesday in their competitive Democratic primary for Senate, pledging to help support his bid for the first statewide win for the party in decades.
"This morning I called James and congratulated him on becoming the Senate nominee," Crockett wrote in a statement shared to the social platform X. "Texas is primed to turn blue and we must remain united because this is bigger than any one person."

The GOP wanted Crockett to win this primar and she probably would have until the White House tried to block Talarico from appearing on Colbert. Despite not being televised, his interview ended up being the most watched one that Colbert has ever done and gave Talarico's campaign a late game donation infusion. Not only did they end up helping Talarico win, they gave him a nearly 3 month head start on general election campaigning because the GOP couldn't settle on a candidate and have to go to a runoff in May.

Between this and the state's poorly thought out redistricting of Texas it is looking like the GOP may have really screwed the pooch on their handling of Texas this year.

I don't watch TV so I don't know. I wouldn't recognize the sound of her voice if she spoke to me right now.

I only heard James Talarico's voice for the first time a few hours ago when Corky posted his speech from YouTube.

I was referring to your comment about allegations of voter suppression.

If voter suppression is that powerful in Texas and Felon Musk is now headquartered there with 90 companies and his billions of dollars, how did Jasmine Crockett survive all the previous Jim Crow attempts at sabotaging her like this time as was alleged?

#31 | Posted by C0RI0LANUS at 2026-03-04 02:15 PM | Reply

Trump wanted Crockett gone.

She constantly humiliated him and the GOP.

Her takedown of Pam Bondi was epic.

I wouldn't count Crockett out for good. She'll be back and stronger than ever.

How great would it be if she ran against Ted "don't call me Rafael" Cruz.

She'd destroy him.

Was it you who answered my query a few weeks ago about why Beto O'Rourke had lost to sniveling Ted Cruz?

You or someone wrote Beto lost because he wanted stricter gun control laws in Texas, a "No-No" in the Lone Star State.

And as liberals, progressives, and Democrats, we should all be glad that James Talarico (D) is the US Senate candidate for Texas, right?

I am sure that was incredibly frustrating in a place so large because why should I have to drive all the way from work to a polling place in my district rather than going to the place nearest my work on my lunch break? There are measures in place that prevent the same voter from voting twice without treating people like that.

No, you've been told in-person voting is the easiest to suppress.

Yesterday being Exhibit A.

Interesting, you've never commented on busline interruptions, or thoroughfare construction, or hours-long lines, are common suppression tactics.

Feel free to chime in on the report 486 voted, while 400 were turned away. That doesn't happen by accident. And it's more than all the voter fraud you can find in Texas going back 30 years.
