Trump effed this up. Just freaking effed it up. His behavior today has been so insane on so many levels.

The man needs to be medicated, and restrained.

I suspect this is just a story, a fable, a fabrication Trump has generated to save face.

He may as readily send a B-1 over Iran with a nuke if he wakes up tomorrow in a bad mood.

Our president is insane.

My understanding is Iran agreed to SOME travel through the Strait coordinated BY Iran only during the Ceasefire.

Iran is also claiming the US agreed to their ten point plan that included lifting sanctions and uranium enrichment.

If true, this is a war we lost. Iran came out ahead of where they were 2 months ago. They came out ahead of where they were under Obama even.

This appears to be the 10 point doc from a couple of weeks ago. If the Strait doesn't open, it's nothing new.

If it does, you'll note the, "Peace in the Middle-East" part of his post is his ultimate goal. Those Nobels are sure hard to come by these days!

Of course, Peace in the ME is what the AC does in the story, too, so there's that.

- If true, this is a war we lost.

He may be lucky to get the same Obama deal he tore up last time he was in Office.

#6 | Posted by Corky at 2026-04-07 07:55 PM | Reply

WHY does Iran have to open the Strait for a Ceasefire if:
1. We already won the war.
2. We wiped out their Navy, Air Force, Defences, Mine Layers, and we control the air.
3. We can simply escort ships through the Strait.

Oh...because all these things are Trump lies.

And now the Strait is PARTIALLY open with Iranians deciding who goes through AND they have time to resupply internally/with Russia.

Not quite. Because if Trump followed through on his psychopathic, genocidal threats, America would have ceased to exist, because when you lose your own soul, you lose absolutely everything.

Sometimes a Trump TACO is the best result we can hope for. Especially after Trump ------ up this entire situation by making threats he never had the political support to follow through on.

Except now the Iranians KNOW they won.

So the negotiation will be a nightmare and they will be in a MUCH better position than before the war. We're looking at likely the Strait requiring a toll.

But it's still WAY better than going through with the actual attack. The reprecussions from Iran are terrifying. Oil hitting $200 a barrel would have caused a global recession, possibly depression.

#13 | Posted by Sycophant at 2026-04-07 09:19 PM | Reply

It's not really a TACO.

The threat: "I will destroy Iran if they don't open Hormuz"

The "deal": "I won't destroy Iran if they do open Hormuz".

I fail to see the difference?

Perhaps you need to read between the lines.

Before I became Muslim I studied Buddhism for almost three years in Nepal and Bhutan. Late 90s. Memorable years. I remember some sort of lesson to this effect: The difference between the edge of a cliff and the abyss is a thin, imperceptible line: on one side of it gravity safeguards your life while on the other side it irreversibly pulls you to your doom.

#20 Not sure who will understand/appreciate this, in light of your excellent comment, but...

It was during the days when the tall ships ruled the oceans of the world, in the 18th and 19th centuries. One such tall ship was sailing into the night when a fierce storm arose. In the middle of this terrible tempest one of the cannons broke loose from its moorings and rolled about the deck, threatening to sink the ship. One sailor braved the winds and rain and waves and went up on deck, grabbed the cannon, pushed it back into its berth, and lashed it securely into place. His heroic actions saved the ship and the lives of his fellow sailors.

The next day the captain brought the entire crew up to the deck where he gave the sailor a medal for his heroism, then had the sailor hanged from the yardarm. Why hang the heroic sailor, the sailor who saved everyone's life?

Because it was that sailor's responsibility to make sure the cannon was properly secured before the storm arose.

Iran, Oman reported to be allowed to charge for Strait of Hormuz passage
Iran and Oman will be allowed to charge fees on ships transiting through the Strait of Hormuz as part of a two-week ceasefire deal mediated by Pakistan, the Associated Press (AP) news agency is reporting.

AP cited an unnamed regional official as saying that Iran would use the money it raised for reconstruction. It was not immediately clear what Oman would use its money for, the AP added.

The official, who had been directly involved in the negotiations, spoke on condition of anonymity with AP as they were not authorised to discuss internal deliberations.

Iran and Oman share territorial rights over The Strait of Hormuz.

White House claims victory, welcomes opening for long-term peace'
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has lauded the ceasefire as a victory for the US that she said Trump and the American military "made happen".

From the beginning, she said, Trump had estimated the war would run for four to six weeks and that in 38 days, the US has achieved and exceeded Washington's core military objectives.

"The success of our military created maximum leverage, allowing President Trump and the team to engage in tough negotiations that have now created an opening for a diplomatic solution and long-term peace," she wrote.

"Additionally, President Trump got the Strait of Hormuz reopened," she said.
