Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, June 27, 2026

Nearly four million people who signed up for Affordable Care Act (AKA Obamacare) plans this year have already dropped their coverage after the loss of subsidies resulted in sharply higher costs, for some the premiums were more expensive than their mortgages. Meanwhile, the US has wasted over $113bn fighting an illegal and reckless war against Iran on behalf of Israel, a wealthy and nuclear-armed country that offers world class universal healthcare to all her residents.

Why are Americans paying for another country's excellent universal healthcare system?

America's mega-oligarchs fared quite well with GOP tax cuts in the 2025 "Big Beautiful Bill."

I wonder how many poor Republicans dropped their Obamacare coverage this year because of the lack of federal subsidies?

And more than 4.7m people nationwide have lost their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

The auto repossession rate is increasing and the Dept of Education is aggressively pursuing delinquent school loans.

474 health facilities have closed or will close soon.

Out of a dead dry rock Republicans are trying to squeeze out blood.

In the early years of the marketplace, there was no health insurance competition in my area. Indeed, the monthly premiums for my wife and me damn near equaled our monthly mortgage. Those were hard years.

Sooooooooo... did they buy insurance at all?

This is so strange... for insurance companies to profit...they need to sell policies... no?
So does this mean fewer policies are sold?

Will they drop their prices... and lose profit?

Concepts of a plan - to administer a screwing to the American people. This, MAGAts, is what you voted for.

That's why Old Yeller says likes you "uneducated." For him that's a synonym for "dumb."

Feeling the love yet?

It originated with Romney... who later had to apologise to republicl0wns for coming up with the framework... or they wouldn't let him run for office.
Obama made bank with a republicl0wn concept... it was more popular than killing bin Laden... another thing the republicl0wns failed at.
Not much different than Bushturd1 having to pass the largest tax hike in US history to pay for the Reagan VOODOO trickledown economic plan...
Bill Clinton balanced the budget with those tax dollars... AND... by allowing Reagan's military budget cuts to play out.

which just proves... on the RARE occasions one comes up with a good idea... they fail to implement it.

Time to quit calling it Obamacare. With all the changes brought/bought by Republicans it should be Obaminationcare.

" Time to quit calling it Obamacare."

It ceased being Obamacare the minute the Republicans cut off the mandate leg.

It's been Trumpcare since that moment. And Trumpcare sucks.

As a US Senator representing Florida in 2015, hologram Marco Rubio sabotaged "Obamacare" by adding debilitating riders into the ACA bill.

The ACA [obamacare] was to save the recipients money, [remember those lies?, just like 'you can keep your doctor] not require ongoing subsidies from we taxpayers. It is the dems who designed and passed it and all the problem lay at their feet. Dems, and their policies, screwing up on a regular basis. So if any here are on the ACA, just pay up like so many with their alternate health care programs.....

#14 | Posted by MSgt at 2026-06-28 05:30 PM | Reply | Funny: 1

THE ACA is a failure as it does not accomplish what the dems claimed, but like other programs by the dems, they just want to throw more taxpayers money at the problem, like with the high-speed train in California, because we know that just throwing money at a problem will fix it like the homeless problem in California....

THE ACA is a failure

No worries. Lewzer's concept of a replacement will be out in two weeks.

This is absolutely tearing apart Red States who already had low wages, high poverty rates, poor insurance markets, little state help, and long lists of medical facilities closing.

And I sleep so much better at night knowing MAGA is suffering so much. We could use a few less MAGA Racist Pedos in this country.

You said it.

Republicans are like chickens and roosters voting for Colonel Sanders.

You could that it's unaffordable. It isn't health care it's a wealth transfer system to insurance companies and PBMs.

" It is the dems who designed and passed it and all the problem lay at their feet. "

Nonsense.

The Dems designed O'Care with a required mandate to purchase. The Republicans "design" chopped off the mandate, hence the return to spiking costs.

You can't claim the Democrats designed what currently exists, after Republicans changed the central tenant.

Universal coverage is such a massive undertaking that only 38 of the top 39 nations have mastered it.

Universal coverage is such a massive undertaking that only 38 of the top 39 nations have mastered it.

#23 | Posted by Nixon

And how many of those 38 nations have a massive insurance industry generating $1,700,000,000,000 in annual revenue, netting $71,000,000,000 in annual profit, and spending $180,000,000 per year on federal lobbying? Or religious groups controlling nearly a quarter of the nation's medical facilities? The insurance industry's annual revenue, for comparison purposes, is about the size the annual budget deficit.

That's $250billion NOT going to actual healthcare
