Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, July 01, 2025

The DOJ is prioritizing the revocation of US citizenship from individuals charged with certain crimes per this 11 June memo. The ten categories of crimes that could lead to citizenship being stripped range from "war crimes" to COVID loan fraud. Individuals "who pose a potential danger to national security, including those with a nexus to terrorism, espionage, or the unlawful export from the US of sensitive goods, technology, or information, raising national security concerns" will be among those prioritized for denaturalization.

To qualify for Medicaid, individuals generally need to have limited countable assets, typically no more than $2,000 for an individual and $3,000 for a couple in most states. However, certain assets are exempt and not counted towards this limit.
Countable Assets (generally include):
Cash and bank accounts (checking, savings, CDs)
Stocks, bonds, and other investments
Retirement accounts (IRAs, 401(k)s)
Real estate other than the primary residence
Some life insurance policies
Cash value of annuities
Exempt Assets (generally not counted):
Primary Residence: In most cases, the primary home is exempt, provided it meets certain equity and occupancy requirements (e.g., applicant must intend to return home if institutionalized, or a spouse or dependent relative lives there).
Personal Items: Clothing, jewelry, wedding rings, and other personal belongings are typically exempt.
Household Goods and Furnishings: Essential household furniture and appliances are generally not counted.
One Vehicle: The primary vehicle used for transportation is usually exempt.
Irrevocable Burial Plans: Funds set aside for burial expenses in an irrevocable pre-need funeral plan or burial fund are often exempt.
Life Insurance: Some life insurance policies, particularly those with low cash value or face value, may be exempt.
Business Assets: Assets used in a trade or business may be exempt under certain conditions.

To Shut up anyone not completely comfortable with Murder and Cultural destruction if it's Israel doing it?

13, 15: Y'all are pathetic. Really. Person's in a nursing home. You want to reveal your medical histories here, much less your real names? If everyone on the Retort could be found as easily as Laura, this place would get quiet quickly.

FWIW, I'm not counting on any blue wave in 2026, and I'm amazed Corky, Danforth, etc. have every two years touted the possibility of a Roe-mentum moment at the polls, or whatever it is this cycle. At least TonyRoma has the sense to stay away for months at a time.

I've got two kids in their 30s. Their political memories start around 9/11. They and many of their peers are turning into democratic socialists. Capitalism sucks, and they are seeing it.

All the voters in their late 20s and younger have grown up thinking that Gingrich-Bush II-Trump (especially the latter) are normal for US politics. (And Obama, Biden, ...) They don't have any frame of reference, and recent history is never taught in schools.

A lot of those immigrants whom Gracie and Boaz love to hate on are from patriarchal, autocratic countries who gladly vote Trump.

Yeah, and there are plenty of American citizens I wish smelled a little less natural.

"I've got two kids in their 30s. Their political memories start around 9/11. They and many of their peers are turning into democratic socialists. Capitalism sucks, and they are seeing it."

You appear to be saying that economic opinions are the only defining differences between liberals and conservatives.

According to Newsweek, younger people are moving toward the Republican Party.

Not because they love capitalism, but for other reasons basically watching liberals and how they conduct their lives.

Do these idiots understand how difficult denaturalization is? How expensive it is? The insanely high burden of proof? How limited it is?

COVID loan fraud isn't enough. It generally has to be either fraud to become naturalization (Elon, Melania) or at minimum willful concealment or misrepresentation of a material fact for naturalization (insanely high bar) or basically treason, espionage or war crimes.

That's pretty much it.

Good luck, idiots.

You assume they'll require the same level of stringency in these proceedings as opposed to simply declaring them denaturalized cuz Trump says so.

I have many times. RCADE knows who I am. I've met more Retort members in person and real life than anyone here. Plus, I run a Discord server with 70 people there, 38 of them from the Retort, who all share family photo's, stories and general awesome conversation, unlike the personal insults seen here. Many of them have quit posting at the DR, because of how much it's changed, but we remain friends in the real world and keep contact on Discord.

People like me an Laura come from a different time at the Retort, when it was genuinely fun. People were nicer and we could debate and have discourse and still be friends.

Me and Laura talk ----, but dont mistake it for real life. I probably know more about Laura than any of you. I truly care for that individual and she knows it, or should know it.

Elliot Duke was denaturalized under this policy. A British national convicted of receipt and possession of child pornography in 2014, Duke was stripped of his US citizenship on 13 June. He was granted US citizenship in 2013 after enlisting in the US Army in 2012. Duke claimed on his 2013 citizenship application that he had never committed a crime for which he was not arrested, but while serving in Germany, Duke began receiving and distributing child sexual abuse material. Zohran scares the shht out of the oligarchs.

The man won the democratic mayoral primaries for NYC, didn't swear fealty to Israel and said he'd put working class Americans first, and suddenly the entire nation either loves him or wants him dead.

Which other mayoral candidate has received so much attention?

If Andrew Cuomo won the NYC Democratic Party mayoral primary, there would have been no need for AIPAC and the dinosaurs to target Zohran Mamdani like this. He now gets NYPD protection as the Democratic Party candidate for NYC Mayor, which sadly he'll need.

I've seen your comments on Laura, Boaz, both those that show care and concern and those that don't.

Someone who "truly cares" would exercise some restraint in some of the more vengeful attempts you make at deriding her, which are more than occasional. Restraint isn't hard for someone you care for. Lack of restraint does make the Retort more fun, but don't try to run from your words.
