Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Sunday, April 26, 2026

Hugh Dougherty: It does not take a security expert to unravel the layers of failure that happened at a Washington, D.C. hotel on Saturday night. How on earth could someone with a disassembled long gun check into a room at a hotel where the president was going to speak? I can answer that: Nobody even looked at my luggage on Friday afternoon. ... No magnometers, no hand checks, no I.D. checks. Nothing.
How on earth could that person get downstairs and assemble a long gun? I can answer that too. I moved up and down from Floor 10 all day.

Kashyap isn't a security expert.

He's a podcast bro who wrote a kids book for Trump to read. It had big words and lots of bright colors.

It was the first book Trump was able to read all by himself.

Trump couldn't be happier.

U.S. Senator John Fetterman
@SenFetterman

We were there front and center.

That venue wasn't built to accommodate an event with the line of succession for the U.S. government.

After witnessing last night, drop the TDS and build the White House ballroom for events exactly like these.

Why? This guy tried to get into the venue and security stopped him before he did. Sounds like it worked just fine.

Even if the Golden Ballroom was there now, this event would not have been held there. It's a private event, not a White House event.

The Hilton has been hosting this event for decades, so I'd imagine they have security sorted out. And, it's a big event, so they need a big space to hold it.

This just shows you how silly your thought process is. You hide behind "statistics", whats important is not statistics, but trendlines.

Here is the trend line of Leftist Violent Radicalization.

Safe Spaces 2010-2015 - Disagreement was reframed as harm and individuals were offered protection.
Cancel Culture 2015-2020 - Ruin the lives of anyone with "harmful" ideas.
Censorship 2020-2022 - People with "dangerous" and "harmful" opinions or "misinformation" were systematically silenced.
Structural Exile 2022-2024 - Frozen bank accounts. Jailed for social media posts. Credentials erased from professional life.
Direct violence normalized 2024-Today - After the Brian Thompson assassination, young leftist fully accept that death is acceptable.
Next up collective attacks.

I have been on this site for a few of these, I bet if you go through the timeline of this site you can see the transition of leftist violent radicalization.

You're a fool to think this described in the statistics of percentages. Today while most Americans say it's unacceptable to be happy about public figures' deaths, but younger and more liberal Americans are more likely to call it acceptable.
yougov.com

This site declares day to day the acceptance of political violence, in fact watching this site is a good indicator of where Leftist are going, and its not civil discourse or Democracy.

This is a bit too conspiratorial for my taste, nevertheless, this guy does raise some interesting points:

"
Eric Schwalm
@Schwalm5132
So let's unpack a few things right up front...

1) He left California and was in DC at the hotel where the WHCD was veing held.
2) Imagine the intent he had to have in order to travel that distance all the while thinking about what he was going to do.
3) He either moved several weapons or procured them in/around DC and figured out a way to get them in proximity to the WHCD.
4) He took the time to load the weapons on to his body (to reportedly include several knives) and nobody noticed.
5) Now here is the kicker...in his hidden location he was somehow aware that the President was in the room and was seated. How/when was he aware of that part?
6) If he wasn't a guest at the WHCD and he couldn't see the President from where he was....how did he know?
7) It's not like he could go look in the room and then go load up with his gear.
8) He was supposedly a guest at the exact hotel? Like every room in that place wasn't booked full over a month in advance? In DC, on a Saturday, with the WHCD in the same hotel....have you ever booked a hotel in DC during a Major Presidential event? Good luck!!!

All of it screams that he had help from someone in DC. Someone with some serious knowledge and capabilities.

You just don't pull off something like that on a whim and without some serious reconnaissance ahead of time."

Yes, that's the correct answer!
The law must be enforced.

When Germany sent people to camps, that's the Right enacting politically motivated violence.

So why in your mind did Reagan apologize for that?
Why did Reagan apologize for upholding the law?

"Claiming anything America is doing is anywhere near what the German NAZI's were doing is dishonest."

There's a deep level of dishonesty here all right.
The dishonesty is pretending the Nazis didn't learn this stuff from the Untied States.
The German NAZIs learned how to do this... by modeling their laws after the United States.

How the Nazis Were Inspired by Jim Crow
To craft legal discrimination, the Third Reich studied the United States.
www.history.com

In 1935, Nazi Germany passed two radically discriminatory pieces of legislation inspired by American laws: the Reich Citizenship Law and the Law for the Protection of German Blood and German Honor. Together, these were known as the Nuremberg Laws, and they laid the legal groundwork for the persecution of Jewish people during the Holocaust and World War II.

When the Nazis set out to legally disenfranchise and discriminate against Jewish citizens, they weren't just coming up with ideas out of thin air. They closely studied the laws of another country. According to James Q. Whitman, author of Hitler's American Model, that country was the United States.

"America in the early 20th century was the leading racist jurisdiction in the world," says Whitman, who is a professor at Yale Law School. "Nazi lawyers, as a result, were interested in, looked very closely at, [and] were ultimately influenced by American race law."

Which is good, because that guy was an incredible asshole.

But that's not why Charlie Kirk got shot.

The Charlie Kirk assassination has everything to do with the Second Amendment.

"History doesn't repeat itself, but it often rhymes. And when we look closely at how fascism rose in 1930s Germany " and compare that to the political climate in the U.S. today " it's hard to ignore the echoes.

The parallels aren't about destination, but about method. About how democracies erode. About what gets normalized " until it's too late.

Even J.D. Vance " now Trump's Vice President " once made that connection himself. Back in 2016, he described Trump as possibly "America's Hitler."

He said it privately, before his political pivot, back when he was still warning about the dangers of personality cults and populist rage."

Political violence is a road we don't want to go down.

Giffords was an official acting in good faith. You might have disagreed with her and her views, but she wasn't acting in a way that was destructing to the foundations of our Republic.

The same cannot be said for Trump. That's not to say he "deserves it," that's to say he's a loathsome, disgusting pile of s*&^ of a man who by his very polarizing nature will inevitably incite strong emotions towards him.

#49 | Posted by BellRinger

When ICE sends people to camps, that's the Right enacting politically motivated violence.
Why isn't that very alarming?
Because it's enforcing the law.
#80 | Posted by boazreborn

When The Riiiiight embraces politically motivated violence,
They don't call it politically motivated violence.
They call it "enforcing the law."

And when someone on the Left points out that the German NAZIs were likewise "enforcing the law"
The Riiiight really doesn't like that!
They cry
"Claiming anything America is doing is anywhere near what the German NAZI's were doing is dishonest."

Let's review the claim: Both America and Germany are enforcing the law.
Which laws am I apparently dishonest in comparing?
Laws, both American and German, that send the Undesirables and other enemies of the state to camps.

But no matter. We don't have to leave this country to demonstrate the truth I'm elucidating.
So I switched it to Americans enforcing the law.
It's okay to compare Americans enforcing the law with... Americans enforcing the law, like happened to Dred Scott, and thousands of Japanese? That should be an okay comparison, right?

And then the Riiiiight
Simply ends the discussion
Because they know they've got nothing.

NOTHING

Parsing the reasons and excuses for murdering someone like that is perhaps a clue you're just fine with violence when you don't like the victim.

Now, I don't think you're supportive of such violence, Corky, but there are plenty of folks here who are admitting they are.

Some are working furiously to walk that right rope of being okay with it but working to fool us into believing they're not.

JFK pissed off more people than Trump has. JFK got people killed. JFK banged anything with a heartbeat. He engaged in nepotism. He couldn't screw anyone in a business deal because he never did a business deal.
