Does this make sense to anyone?
Only if it's part of the continuing Trump pattern of behavior

Simply explained.

"Eliminating a specialized drone battalion is not necessarily the same as eliminating drone warfare. The real question is whether the Army is spreading those capabilities throughout the force"or allowing the lessons to disappear with the unit."

Hit: It's the former.

Johnny Winter, "Too Much Seconal."

youtu.be

If capitalism and the healthcare system wanted to do something helpful for the US, there'd be seconal and methaqualone vending machines in convenience stores, just like you can get MD 20/20 and drive away with it.

Just one consumer's opinion.

Lets talk about big box vs local shop ....

When a big box moves in it pays for the property and taxes. But it doesn't pay for the same rate as a mom and pop store who employees local talent to build a display case ($1000), they get taxed heavily. The big box, throw up some cheap economy scale manufactured displays, cost $100.

The BPP creates a barrier to entry to the local mom and pop. Making the country a BigBox Country. On top of all profits going to the bigbox HQ versus your hometown.

The same reason Billionaires and BigBoxes are being created is because you want to collect MORE taxes.
Its not the big box retailers fault, its the government you wanted.
You indirectly voted for the big-boxes over mom-pop. The system is working as you wanted.

Lets go with your personal homes ..

Make an improvement and you are taxed at a new assessed rate. What's the logic here?
Or make changes to your home to make it better, you add perhaps a pool or an ADU, and the government wants its increase in value forever!
Despite that you improved it with your income that was taxed already ...
Look I get when you sell it and get the government reassess ithe property, but you can't improve your property without paying the government forever.
Thats insane.

So no one does it, or they do it without being permitted, or only the super rich that can afford to.

If you follow the above, and see the insanity happening in America now ... why investment into liquid assets are really the only play.

Perhaps, but unlikely you can understand why Billionaires would move to a new state, or be against an asset tax, and why you should be too.

It constrains investment, facors BIG corporations over mom and pop, which then constrains local tax revenue for the government, by staying local.

Dan,

"Christmas is a national holiday. Name a belief other than Christianity whose most sacred day is a National Holiday."

Christmas is a federal holiday, but that does not make Christianity the state religion or require anyone to worship. Christmas has also become a cultural holiday celebrated by many people who are not practicing Christians. Christians themselves are not required to attend church, put up a tree or exchange presents.

Likewise, Muslims are free to worship in America. My objection is more specific. When a religious message is amplified into surrounding homes and neighborhoods, it must obey the same noise laws governing everyone else. Hearing the call to prayer does not make someone a participant, but people should not be forced to hear amplified religious broadcasts that violate local ordinances.

Should a Christian church be permitted to broadcast its Sunday morning sermon over outdoor loudspeakers into surrounding homes? Of course not. The same standard should apply to a mosque.

"So you believe a woman should decide whether she gets an abortion?"

I have answered this before. Yes. I thought reversing Roe v Wade was a mistake. I believe abortion is morally wrong, but from a secular legal standpoint, the government should leave that decision to the woman rather than impose my moral beliefs upon her. She must make that decision and live with its consequences.

"Can you show us a single current instance of Muslims getting MORE constitutional rights than you? Please be specific."

Did you listen to the video attached to this thread?

No group possesses more rights than provided by the Constitution. The concern is officials who sometimes protect or enforce those rights unequally.

The current Dearborn video contains allegations of unequal treatment and an attempt to impose Sharia Law .

One documented Dearborn example is Bible Believers v Wayne County. At Dearborn's 2012 Arab International Festival, a hostile crowd threw objects at Christian speakers. Law enforcement responded by ordering the speakers to leave under threat, instead of protecting their constitutional right to free speech. The Sixth Circuit ruled that officials had violated the Christians First and Fourteenth Amendment rights by permitting a hostile crowd to silence them.

That is not an allegation from a video. It is an actual finding by a federal court.

"Treating minorities like crap is never a good idea."

Have I suggested that Muslims should be treated like crap?

Muslims do not need to abandon their faith or private traditions. Like every other religious group, however, they may need to modify public traditions that conflict with existing laws or the rights of their neighbors.

Living in a free country without an established religion means that every faith receives the same protection, no faith receives governmental preference, or the right to impose its religious practices upon the surrounding community.

OK. But what does that have to do with capitalism.

I was pointing out that recognizing how broken the system is in the US doesn't mean one wants to be Cuba. That's it.

I would also point out that "capitalism" isn't a monolith. There are very different ways of doing business in different countries, many of which aren't broken like the US is.

I assume you're now on your feet in NLD, correct? And NLD is a very, very capitalist country.

It is. But not, in my admittedly limited experience, as brutally and ruthlessly as the US has become. The social contract here is alive and well and although the government oversight seems over the top at times compared to what I'm used to, s*&^ works here. As a senior manager I've had to become decently familiar with Dutch labor laws (at least the spirit and pertinent parts) as part of onboarding and worker protections, considerations and rights are far greater here. Kind of annoyingly so from an American perspective.

The US is in tatters, but it's not because of capitalism. If capitalism was the issue, most of the world would be in tatters.

Again, it's not a monolith. The system American businesses have descending into is a massive part of the problem. Laziness and complacency of the populace comprise a significant portion of the rest.

The problem in the US is that USans want lots of rights, but no responsibilities. It's that simple. You will soon recognize that, living in your new home.

I already see it. Interestingly, another thing I see is people here aren't so over the top in their pride for their country to the point that it's kind of dirty.

Congrats, btw. Where are you living?

I'm about an hour and a half south of Amsterdam, not far from the Belgian border. We're finally comfortable enough that we're starting to think about a first trip, probably right before Christmas depending on the school schedule. Currently thinking either Prague or Edinburgh.

-Why should anyone need to provide documentation to prove they need assistance?

I concur!

Why do multimillionaires and billionaires need tax payer subsidies?

I agree with you here ...

But I assume you're taking about Stadiums, and here's why it happens; researching why the Oakland deal fell apart., the Cities want control of the project.

So if the city wants control why should the owners of the team foot the bill? The team was throwing in all sorts of items that had nothing to do with the A's.

that is why most projects become the taxpayers burden, across the board I suspect this is what happens.

Cities never if ever, say build whatever you want and we will subsidize it.

That being said, I learned to from a friend who is a restaurant owner; His refrig went dead at the restaurant, and they replaced it, sales tax 10%, on top of that there is another tax for "property improvement" of his restuarant; WTF was improved.
This is the government at work behind the scenes, sure maybe the give them a subsidy, but the asset they build is TAXED to no end. This is the ---- happens behind the scenes.

I think they are called Tangible Personal Property (TPP) / Business Personal Property (BPP) taxes.

I get taxed more (forever) if I make my plane safer to fly ... If I add a new avionics I pay a 10% sales tax, then I pay an asset tax on an asset that never depreciates. Ergo I pay more every year to the government to be safer for you and me. Thats insane.

NOW thinking about the hospital that paralyzed those patients; there are automated systems but they cost $1M+ but also there is an enormous "improvement tax" the hospital will have to pay. So the hospital has to weigh the odds and chances, in this case they got hosed, and people are paralyzed, why? Some of the reason is that taxes on improvements make things like safety unaffordable.

America is ------ up with these sorts of taxes on" improvements"; they aren't every where but they are in a majority of States. The government is actively charging a tax for safety and making things better.

Former Federal Reserve Chairman and Ayn Randian cultist, Alan Greenspan, gave this speech in 2001: www.federalreserve.gov explaining how awful it would be to pay off our public debt. He also went on to support W's tax cuts (which required the US to borrow even more money for the Iraq and Afghanistan wars) as an effective way to prevent budget surpluses and keep the country in debt. The idea that the Social Security trust fund would have "too much" money in it really worried old Al.

Mission Accomplished!

"As a Christian, I accept that America has no state religion."

Christmas is a national holiday. Name a belief other than Christianity whose most sacred day is a National Holiday.

"Christians do not get to impose biblical law on everyone else"

That doesn't stop them from trying. Heck, they'll literally MISINTERPRET the Bible to justify their fascist actions. For example, the Bible talks about "the quickening" as the beginning of life; fascists will overrule God to say moment of conception.

"There are radical Islamist movements that openly advocate bringing Sharia into government and public life."

And there are radical Christian movements who believe husbands should be able to strike their wives, and every household should have only ONE vote: the man's. Frankly, neither will get any traction.

"Religious freedom does not mean the right to impose religious law or religious requirements on everyone else."

So you believe a woman should decide whether she gets an abortion?

"Muslims in America have the same religious freedom, but they also have to accept the same constitutional limits."

Can you show us a single current instance of Muslims getting MORE Constitutional rights than you? Please be specific.

"Here, when religious demands cross constitutional boundaries, the courts will determine where those boundaries are."

Yep. And if you remember, SCOTUS ruled Hobby Lobby didn't have to pay for women's reproductive services, since the owner of Hobby Lobby claimed it was against his religion.

"My concern is that some Americans who are strongly anti-Christian and anti-Israel may become so eager to oppose Christians and Jews that they excuse or support demands from Islamic groups that they would never tolerate from Christians."

Well then, the answer would be to give them no future reason to distrust you or hate you. Start working alongside, and stop called Muslims "them".

Treating minorities like crap is never a good idea, especially if folks who look like you are destined to be in the minority.
