President Vladimir Putin told the West on Wednesday that Russia was technically ready for nuclear war and that if the U.S. sent troops to Ukraine, it would be considered a significant escalation of the conflict.
Putin warns the West: Russia is ready for nuclear war
About as ready as it was to take on the poorest nation in Europe? Three days to Kyiv, amirite?
Russians should change their "China's Final Warning" expression to "Russia's Final Warning."
Why the war in Iraq was fought for Big Oil
Yes, the Iraq War was a war for oil, and it was a war with winners: Big Oil.
It has been 10 years since Operation Iraqi Freedom's bombs first landed in Baghdad. And while most of the U.S.-led coalition forces have long since gone, Western oil companies are only getting started.
Before the 2003 invasion, Iraq's domestic oil industry was fully nationalized and closed to Western oil companies. A decade of war later, it is largely privatized and utterly dominated by foreign firms.

@#34 ... Poland is the country that is talking about sending troops to help Ukraine ...
Poland won't rule out NATO force in Ukraine
www.dw.com
... Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski responded positively to French President Emmanuel Macron's recent comments about the deployment of Western troops in Ukraine.
"The presence of NATO forces in Ukraine is not unthinkable," Sikorski wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
On the contrary, British Foreign Minister David Cameron has stated that he opposes the deployment of Western troops in Ukraine, even for training purposes.
Members of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG) will meet again on March 19 at Ramstein Air Base in Germany to discuss support for Kyiv. ...
So maybe we can get back to the thread's topic and away from the lame deflection attempts?
Putin resumes sabre-rattling' with warning Russia ready for nuclear war

"Russia, Ukraine, it's an almost identical culture. The language difference is more like a dialect. "
Wrong again. No it's not just a dialect.
While one language has influenced the other a Russian may not understand a Ukrainian at all.
There are people who say that Ukrainian is a dialect of Russian, or that the two languages are very similar. When traveling in Poland or Slovakia, Ukrainian speakers have no problem understanding the locals and they in turn tend to understand spoken Ukrainian. On the other hand, in Russia if you speak Ukrainian, you will not be understood. So the question is: are the two languages really similar?

@#62 ... Helping the breakaway oblasts in Ukraine fight off the Kiev attacks was justified by events. ...
What events?
Please be specific.
And as a follow-up question...
"oblasts" seems to be a distinctively Russian thing.
Oblast
en.wikipedia.org
... Historically, it was used in the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union. The term oblast is often translated into English as region or province.[2][3] In some countries, oblasts are also known by cognates of the Russian term. ...
Wow.
Going full-on Russia here are ye?
And, if I may note...
From my understanding, there is only one time when Article 5 of NATO (~an attack on one is an attack on all~) has ever been invoked.
Do you know when that event was?
It was an attack upon the US, the World Trade Center attack.
Invoking Article 5
shape.nato.int
... Article 5 is the cornerstone of the Alliance. It means that an attack on one is an attack on all. This article has been invoked only once in the 70-year history of the Alliance: in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks on the United States. In this episode we discuss how NATO came to the aid of the US and why article 5 was invoked. ...
Putin is going insane with frustration that his "Special Military Operation" is not unfolding to plan.
He knows no one is planning to use nuclear weapons against Russia. But to make his constantly lied to public believe his lies, he's stoking his jingoist war bloggers fo keep up their extreme rhetoric.
KGB Putin knows using any nulcear weapon would mean assured destruction of the Mafia-like fascist system he's designed and thrives under.
There are some who say the war is stalemated. Not so. Russia's military is getting weaker every day. For a series of updates on Ukraine's military's progress at decimating Russia's military, see the Ukraine-Russo War Map series: www.youtube.com
As Ukraine brings the war closer to the homes of Russia's voters, pressure might force Putin to fire even more senior military officers. And the turmoil would make Russia vulnerable to hearing real news about Putin's klepto-fascist government, and EU pressure on Kalingrad might lead to this isolated Russian city's 1/2 million rssidents angry at Moscow.
Russia is experiencing internal conflict by an increasing number of anti-Putin militias. How they are communicating with each other is a mystery but as Putin is about to be "elected" again to yet another term as Russia's Fuehrer, more and more Russians are becoming with Putin & Russia's government. Could this frustration spill over to Kalingrad? Maybe. Check out this: "Why Russia Will Lose Kaliningrad":
