Only 55%? Methinks that percentage will rise, as US businesses will more and more be forced to pass along the tariff expense, so as to remain viable. Do your Xams shopping now, before costs rise in the coming months...

Our groceries cost nearly double what they did a year ago. Thanks, MAGAdiots!

Gonna be even tougher when the paychecks stop flowing.

We gonna Find Out then who the WEAK are!

But that's what a FAFO is for.

Right?

"Only 55%?"

Agreed.

Why on Earth do these folks pretend importers aren't on US soil?

#7 | Posted by Danforth at 2025-10-14 12:23 PM | Reply

This is what I said. They wouldn't bear all the cost of the tariffs.

Its nothing but a per product corporate tax, which as all us educated Liberals have stated the consumer will bear some of the cost.

I am completely shocked by this news.

You might be,but I bet you argued like DonorBot that a higher corporate tax wouldn't be passed on to the consumer.

You don't think, you just don't like Trump.

I bet you just made that crap up.

And I think. Obviously.

And what I obviously think is that you and Trumpy are both sick demented iceholes.

But do carry on with the Lie of the Day.

lol... isn't that how it always goes?

I'm inspired to mesh two Bush brains... into one thought.

Read my lips... no new taxes... until one or both of us have to abandon free market principles to save the free market lie.

It's what clowns do...

Only two dolls per customer! Don't get greedy. You bastages don't need 30 dolls.

But no worries. These tariffs will cost Americans "nothing"!

And nothing is what you'll get!

Trumpy done promised!!

"Corporate taxes are not always passed on to consumers because the burden of the tax is shared between consumers, shareholders, and employees, depending on factors like the elasticity of demand and market competition.

While some studies show that a portion of the tax is passed on as higher prices, others find that a significant part is borne by workers through lower wages or by shareholders through lower profits."

Elasticity of Demand may be a new concept for visa holders.

Where is all this money going to?

I hear promises for everything from replacing income tax to fixing basically everything and we'll all be rich.

But I haven't seen receipts. (except for my own, which are a bummer)

And we're definitely not getting rich. But Trump is.

Corporate Tax is on PROFITS. It's a small fraction of revenue. If it's spent on re-investing in the business, it isn't even taxed as profit.

Tariffs are on the product itself. No escape.

And for grocery stores, this is insane. Not only is inventory a huge cost, but the profit margins are razor thing. Sometimes only a few percent. The corporate tax ONLY applies to that small percent after other expenses. But the tariff applies DIRECTLY to the inventory purchases.

The math shouldn't be hard here...but you are MAGA.

NFIB Small-Business Optimism Index Drops in September
finance.yahoo.com

... The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) released its Small-Business Optimism Index for September this morning, with the headline coming in negative for the first time in three months: -2.0 month over month to 98.8.

This is still above the survey average of 98, although the Uncertainty Index shot up +7 points to an even 100 -- the fourth-highest reading in the 52-year average of the index.

Supply Chain concerns, up +10 points month over month, topped the list, followed by Inflation.

A seasonally adjusted +31% of small businesses plan to raise prices in the next three months.

And +32% of jobs have gone unfilled in September, unchanged from the August figure.

This is not considered a major economic print, but it does provide more points on the graph adding up to a more-insecure economy at present. ...

U.S. Imports Slide 8.4% as China Trade Volumes Plunge Before Tariff Deadline
www.globaltrademag.com

... U.S. container imports fell sharply in September 2025, with total inbound volumes dropping 8.4% from August to 2,307,933 TEUs, according to Descartes Systems Group's latest Global Shipping Report. The decline -- the steepest monthly drop in recent years -- reflects importers' growing caution ahead of looming tariff changes and the expiration of the U.S.-China tariff truce.

China was the primary driver of the downturn, with import volumes plunging 12.3% month-over-month to 762,772 TEUs, a 22.9% year-over-year decrease.

Nearly all major product categories saw declines, led by aluminum and related articles (-43.8%), footwear (-33.9%), and electric machinery (-31.5%). Both knit and non-knit apparel categories fell more than 29%.

Furniture and bedding -- China's largest export category to the U.S. -- dropped 22.3% from a year earlier but continued to represent 14.5% of all China-origin shipments.

Descartes noted that global supply chains continue to face elevated uncertainty as tariff volatility intersects with broader geopolitical and logistical disruptions. ...
