Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, August 11, 2025

Washington is a federal district rather than a state, it falls under the constitutional authority of Congress rather than a governor, meaning any presidential attempt to take over the city would raise serious constitutional, legal, and political concerns.

President Trump wrote Sunday that homeless people should be moved out of Washington, D.C., "IMMEDIATELY" and relocated "FAR" away, as he hints at more aggressive policing in the nation's capital -- and suggests putting the city under federal control.

"Actual factual" is a redundant phrase often used informally to emphasize the truth or reality of a statement, essentially meaning "really true" or "really existing". It's a stronger way of saying something is a fact or real. The phrase is also used in the title of a party game called "What the Actual Factual" where players try to come up with the most believable fake answer

White House Reacts To Judge Rejecting Ghislaine Maxwell Grand Jury Request
www.newsweek.com

... White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Tuesday that it was "unfortunate" that a federal has denied the Department of Justice's request to unseal grand jury transcripts related to the indictment of Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted associate of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Leavitt was asked about Monday's decision during her press briefing.

She replied, in part, "We think that is unfortunate. The president wants to see credible evidence released. ...

On Monday, in a strongly worded written decision, U.S. District Judge Paul A. Engelmayer said federal law "almost never" permits the release of grand jury materials and warned that making such documents public casually would be ill-advised. He went further, accusing the Justice Department of pushing for their release under false pretenses, suggesting the real aim was to give the public an "illusion" of transparency rather than genuine disclosure.

Engelmayer dismissed the department's claim that unsealing the transcripts could reveal new details about the crimes of Maxwell or her longtime associate, Jeffrey Epstein, calling that argument "demonstrably false." ...

Kamala Harris Has More Billionaires Prominently Backing Her Than Trump -- Bezos And Griffin Weigh In (Updated) (October 2024)
www.forbes.com

... Key Facts

Our breakdown records 83 billionaires supporting Harris and 52 backing Trump so far (see the lists for both below).

Many more billionaires may still financially back a candidate, but their donations won't be learned until after the election, when final Federal Election Commission reports are issued in December.

Billionaires leaning toward Harris may seem incongruous, since she often criticizes Trump for advocating for policies favorable toward billionaires"but there are practical reasons why the ultra wealthy may favor Harris.

A letter signed by more than a dozen billionaires last month endorsing Harris explained their belief Harris "will continue to advance fair and predictable policies that support the rule of law, stability, and a sound business environment," indicating the support for the status quo as the U.S. economy and stock market exhibit strength, while a recent survey of millionaire investors -- which found a 57% to 43% split in Harris's favor -- identified technology, healthcare and sustainability stocks as the sectors most poised to benefit from a Harris win, a mix friendly to many of her billionaire backers from Silicon Valley, who grew familiar with Harris during her time as a California prosecutor. ...

So what were the goals of those billionaires supporting fmr VP Harris?

To turn the Country into an autocracy?

And which of them paid almost $300 million to the Candidate to get a job destroying his competitors Gov contracts?

Why? Because those who advise the DNC are disconnected fools who can't see past their own social wedge issues.

This is the moron who supports people not being able to hike trails because there is a burn ban. I hope he enjoys his slavery. It's like saying don't drive your car on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays because there's more wrecks on those days. Nothing about how to prevent wrecks, just stay in your home and be afraid.

Canada has become China lite.

Too Much Joy - The Kids Don't Understand (1996)
www.youtube.com

Lyrics excerpt ...

genius.com

...
Well they flash
Those half-knowing smiles
As they pass
Heroic profiles
Like they're in some book by Ayn Rand
Always working, always tanned
So satisfied but the kids don't understand

You kiss her
Don't even love you
It's a blur
She's getting on top of you
Sometimes you see stuff nobody planned
Stick your head back in the sand
Oh, don't worry cause the kids don't understand

Stuck your hands in the wet cement
In the soft spot of my skull

Well it stings
Lick your wounds if I could
No such thing
As a normal childhood
Give em paper, scissors and crayons
Give all those concerned a big hand
Maybe they deserve it, but the kids don't understand
...

Whatever you have done unto the least of these, you have done unto me, Jesus Christ, Matthew 25:40

And

Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' And then I will declare to them, I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'

Because you have no love for your fellow human, what you have heaped on others, will come home to roost on you

Charismatic, that's going to be a hard sell.
Cult Leader, that's an even harder sell.
Every major party national candidate is backed by billionaires.

Congratulations, one out of three ain't bad for a Republican.

The party == the ideas.

Dem policy typically polls well once you strip away the party association.

Considering I'm usually very critical of the Dems as a party, you're barking up the wrong tree.

As typical, you revert to gay sexual fantasies. Nice meltdown, by the way.

Homeless people are not who most people picture when they think of homeless people.
1/3 of them are children. To evict homeless people from DC is to force children out from areas where they attend school and receive healthcare and social services.
Somewhere around 1/2 of homeless people have jobs. To force them out will make it more difficult for them to get to work which means they will likely lose their jobs which harms their employers and customers.
100% of homeless people are people who have constitutional rights that are violated by evicting them from the city without due process.

#121 - When I lived in DC there was a big problem for the working homeless. It's been going on for decades. The most notable example was "Reaganville."

I know we had 10's of thousands of working homeless when I lived there. Like you said - whole families. Kids.

I like DC.
Prior to President Pedo, DC hosted about 27 million tourists a year. I don't know what that number will be this year. Maybe that UFC fight honoring the birth of the United States 250 years ago will bring in a few more? God help us all.
