Civil War being mentioned on social media

Minutes after the shooting of the right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk in Utah on Wednesday, calls for civil war began appearing online. The term "civil war" was mentioned on Wednesday more than 129,000 times on the social platform X, according to an analysis by The New York Times. On Thursday, it was mentioned at least 210,000 times. That was up from a daily average of around 18,000 in previous months. Many of the posts that included the phrase were reposted on other platforms, including Truth Social, TikTok and Instagram.

That's why they ran with the narrative allowing them to express those thoughts openly, even though we knew absolutely nothing about the person or persons who shot Kirk.

700,000 Americans died in the first Civil War. 2.5% of the population at that time. If a comparable number of Americans died in a second Civil War, AI tells me that would be between 6 and 10 million or more. My guess it would be more. Much more. Why would any patriotic American want that?

There isn't going to be a Civil War like the first one. Trump is going to escalate his authoritarian power grab, using the law enforcement apparatus in the country accompanied by the RW militias, whose leaders he set free with his 1/6 pardons. And don't call it a civil war; it's a conservative revolution:

You'll get the premise right away. Hedges backs it up with history. His personal involvement as a war correspondent informs his writing. Example after example supports his postulate.

It may feel a bit repetitive as you read it. I felt it became an indictment of this human characteristic, or need. I became a bit better for reading it.

It's been years since I read it. I'll be curious what you think of it, Alexandrite.
