Not only is the reflecting pool growing algae, but now the beautiful American Flag Blue coating that was installed by a pool company chosen by Trump for a no bid contract is peeling off shortly after being installed.

The extent of Trump's destruction of Washington, D.C., is truly stunning. It's the ultimate metaphor. The algae-infested Reflecting Pool. The destroyed grass from the UFC event. The bulldozed East Wing grounds. "86 47" etched into the lawn near the Reflecting Pool. REUTERS/Aaron Schwartz

Hydrogen peroxide is a component of paint stripper.

Water is a component of paint stripper.

This is worse than overshocking. It's a paint prep failure.

Gee, it's as if the comic-book trope clown PEDO DONNIE hired was unqualified for the job.

When I lived in a development with a HOA and retention ponds we tried grass carp but the Osprey kept eating them. So, we got a service that sent a biologist every month to spread the proper amount of copper sulfate to handle the algae.

Trump says vandals targeted it.

LOLOLOLOL!!

Ya, starting with the one in the WH who gave his pool guy a no-bid contract with an unheard of profit margin for a shoddy job.

"Trump says vandals targeted it."

So Trump admits, even with his limitless Federal power, he cannnot keep the National Mall safe.

Republicans have to pretend they don't understand what I just said.

"Trump acknowledges real problems' at reflecting pool after $14m makeover, blaming vandalism'

Donald Trump has blamed "vandalism" for "real problems" at Washington's reflecting pool after an algae bloom in the wake of a $14.2m renovation of the site he declared would turn it "American flag" blue. Paint has also been seen peeling off in the water.

He also made claims that vandals had been arrested.

In a Truth Social post on Sunday afternoon, Trump claimed, again with no evidence whatsoever, that "multiple individuals" had been arrested by US park police for "vandalizing our Nations magnificent Reflecting Poll".

"Who would do such a thing?" Trump wrote. "These are very serious crimes having to do with the destruction of National Monuments. Years in jail! Work will begin immediately on its repair."

Trump also claimed in his post that the algae problem was largely under control, suggesting it was "75% gone" and the issue would soon be "completely remedied".

Law enforcement is "actively investigating this situation", he claimed, and "will hopefully have it resolved soon".

The Department of the Interior did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding Trump's statement."

"A three-time US Olympian and canoeist was arrested on Friday after noticing a partly detached piece of the blue liner and reaching into the water to see what it felt like, he said.

"I didn't vandalize anything," David Hearn, who had been cycling, told the Washington Post. "I didn't destroy or break or peel anything. By the time I realized what was going on, I was being put in handcuffs."

From TDS sufferers, few can.

Can you imagine how filled with TDS you have to be to grab the hose they are using to clean the algae with and wrestle it around?
Not to mention the cycling get up ... what a schmuck.

Dang they caught another fool pulling up the bottom of the pool this time...

I worry about what a ill-considered Trumpian quick-fix remedy will certainly have on the waterfowl that rely on the pool as their main habitat. It's the incompetence, stupid. The photo of the damage to the Elipse courtesy the Fight Night mouth-breather army is soooo on-brand, eh? Another uncalled-for variation on a all-too-familiar theme, if you will. Why should the pool be any different?

The fat sack of---------- somehow managed to give leprosy to the reflecting pool.

@#8 ... Law enforcement is "actively investigating this situation", he claimed, and "will hopefully have it resolved soon". ...

The problem that apparently needs to be resolved soon is that Pres Trump gave the no-bid project to someone he knew and for a higher profit level than usual with government contracts.

So, going to the root cause, why didn't Pres Trump put the repainting project out to id and then select a qualified contractor to perform the task at hand?

Will "law enforcement" be actively investigating that aspect of this situation?

I'm not yet of that opinion.

But, yeah, there seems to be a resemblance in the inanity of the posts.

I'll leave it there ...

@#13 ... I worry about what a ill-considered Trumpian quick-fix remedy ...

Apologies for not quoting all of your comment.

But your mention of Pres Trump's ill-considered inclination towrds a ~quick fix~ as opposed to a lasting solution rang true with me.

Stated differently ...

Try to make it look pretty. Don't try to resolve the problem.
