Justice Brett Kavanaugh, a member of the court's conservative wing, wrote a concurrence explaining that he thought the proposal may be within the authority of the USPS, but that "state and local election officials do not have sufficient time to reasonably implement the rule before the elections."

Interesting parallel with Bush v Gore in 2000, where they were trying force changes to rules in how votes were counted before an impending deadline.

Voting by mail has already begun in states including Alabama, North Carolina and Wisconsin, with more soon to follow " including Western states such as Hawaii, Oregon and Washington, where elections are held primarily or fully with mail ballots.

And now we have one more reason to make sure to show up and vote during the midterm elections...if the Republican Party keeps both Houses of Congress, they can push this through and take their time about it.
I do hope Alito resigns fairly soon, he is a disgrace to Yale Law School, who seemed to have taught him that the Constitution is a suggestion, not the primary authority.

Jefferson had his expurgated New Testament.
Alito and Thomas have their bowdlerized US Constitution, minus Article 1, Section 4.

This will not stop here.

Those who can avoid voting by mail should do so, at all costs.

Remember all those photos of folks in other countries standing in line for hours on end, just to vote? I've done that, in Ohiehomie, standing in a line, once in the freezing rain, the other with a thunderstorm bearing down on the polling place, in each case for four hours. Americans should be prepared to vote as early as possible, in as secure a location as possible, e.g., at your local board of elections.

ICE thugs and Proud Boys will be out, causing mischief on election day, attempting to chase folks away and intimidate those who hang around to exercise their rights. And once again, African Americans: get out and vote. This may be the last time in your lives when you are able to do so...

What are the odds that the orange chomo and USPS continue with the plans anyways?

What is the SCOTUS going to do to him if he does? Nothing.

""These are not the people I interviewed to serve on the United States Supreme Court, they are merely a shell of their original selves, a Court that is costing the United States Trillions of Dollars with shockingly bad rulings," Trump wrote."

The odds are pretty high.

It's easier to seek forgiveness than to ask permission.

Except in Trumpy's case as he has clearly said.. he prefers not to ask for forgiveness at all.

Dan says I'm being disingenuous that I don't really care about voter eligibility and authentication, I just want to reduce Democratic votes.

Really?

Then explain something. Why would tighter voter eligibility and authentication reduce Democratic votes?

Are there large numbers of Democratic voters who couldn't prove they're eligible or verify who they are?

Zed,

For example, I believe ending the life of a child growing inside a woman is a sin.

But her decision is between her and God. I cannot make that moral decision for her, nor do I believe I bear responsibility for the decision she makes.

If there is judgment for that decision, it is hers to answer for, not mine.

That is part of what I mean when I say mixing religion and politics inevitably compromises one or both.

A person has to come to terms with that conflict and decide how to reconcile the two in their own conscience or choose not to.

That, too, is their choice.

What political principle have I compromised?

Simply saying "you compromise both" is an accusation, not an argument.

Politics should be the application of positive values in the service of facts.

The essence of MAGA (that's you) is absolutely not this.

#28 | Posted by Zed at 2026-09-16 10:15 AM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

Zed,

How can you tell me I'm compromising my religious beliefs?

Are you in my head? Are you my conscience?

If you think something I've said contradicts my beliefs, then point to the contradiction.

Simply telling me what I supposedly believe or what I've supposedly compromised doesn't make it true.

Religion is based on morality.

Politics is about governing people with different beliefs, values, and interests through law, not through a single moral code.

That is exactly why mixing the two creates conflict.

What I may believe is morally right before God is not automatically something I believe government should impose on everyone else.

Religion is not based on morality

Religion is based on control

Religion only occasionally intersects with morality, usually unintentionally

Politics is about governing people through a single moral code-the single moral code being that moral code agreed on by the people, or by the dictator in certain countries where his moral code is dictated to the people.

Truth, are you unaware that many pro-choice people are pro-choice under the exact description of what Bill posted?

Many pro-choice people have a moral and/or religious belief based position on abortion but ultimately agree it's not their decision and it's up to the woman to make her "choice".

That offends you?

#44 | Posted by eberly at 2026-09-16 11:41 AM | Reply

" Then explain something. Why would tighter voter eligibility and authentication reduce Democratic votes?"

It reduces BOTH votes, dumfuq.

And it's because an additional barrier to voting will be an additional barrier to voting.

And every method you're proposing would suppress more legitimate votes than it would thwart illegitimate votes.

Explain why that's OK, and tell us how many votes you would be willing to suppress, to save (for example) two illegal votes?

They grudgingly indulge the woman's silly whims and let her think she is briefly in charge of her own healthcare in spite of their god/ruler of the known Universe's instructions and objections?

Those people are obviously going to the hell of their Gods choosing.

Fake Plastic Christians are pretty dumb huh?

These facts are actually easy to find out. But no, they are not in your Bible.

There are large numbers of Voters (of all parties) who cannot EASILY show proof of citizenship.

"1 in 10 eligible U.S. voters say they can't easily show proof of their citizenship"

About 1 in 10 adult citizens, or 21.3 million eligible voters, say they either do not have or could not quickly find in order to show the next day their U.S. birth certificate, passport, naturalization certificate or certificate of citizenship, according to results released Tuesday from a national survey.

This will not stop here.

Exactly.

Courts have already ruled that what they are doing to be illegal (using social security database to purge voter rolls) and they are STILL DOING IT after it was ruled illegal.

Laws and court rulings MEAN NOTHING TO CRIMINALS AND THIS ADMINISTRATION FROM THE TOP DOWN IS THE MOST CORRUPT CRIMINAL ADMINISTRATION IN HISTORY.

You prove your eligibility when you register to vote.

I know I had to submit my birth certificate, social security number, proof of residency and government ID when I registered.

Period. Full stop.
